Chapter 2| The Chaotic Down Fall

‘Mate!’ my inner wolf, Sarah, exclaimed that it made me freeze.

I looked intently at the man as I tried to digest what I’d heard.

“Mate…” I involuntarily said those words due to being in shock at what Sarah said.

My mate… my mate is this man? The man who killed our Pack Beta Charles? And possibly the man who invaded our pack?

All the realization left me speechless.

How? How can this be possible?

I admit all my life I’ve waited for my mate to come. But, I never expected that my mate would be this kind of person. I never expected to meet him in the middle of the war, wherein our people were dying to save my life—like Charles.

I saw his right eyebrow rise at what he had heard. Then soon, he scoffed and chuckled mockingly.

“A mate?” he repeated those words as if it was a big joke in his ears.

“What are we gonna do to her?” one of the werewolves asked and walked closer in our direction.

My attention got caught by the speaker. 

He shifted back to his human form. 

He has a great body, a strong jaw, ocean blue eyes, and white long hair. It seems he has a position in an organization or pack. A beta, perhaps.

Before my mate in front of me spoke, he lost his grip on my right arm and pushed me away. That made me fall to the ground harshly. He put both of his hands behind his back and stared at me arrogantly.

The way he looked at me, it seemed I was just a mere rabbit that was easy to kill, trash that was easy to throw, and a piece of paper that was easy to crumble. 

Those cold golden eyes show no mercy.

“You…You are the only daughter of pathetic George Williams, right?” he asked those words in a cold and mocking tone.

From what I’ve heard, the fear for my life was instantly replaced by burning anger. My breathing pattern became unstable, and my knuckles turned white as I gritted my teeth.

How dare he say my father is pathetic?! He was the greatest father and leader of the Red Moon Pack that we ever had!

This man crossed the line!

I stood up quickly and growled at him. I showed my claws and bravely scratched him.

But, I was left stunned at what happened next. He was so fast, that helped him to avoid my attack. Because in just a blink of my eyes, he was already at my back, holding my right hand, and without any second thought, he twisted it. I heard the sound of my bones cracking badly.

A loud cry came out from my lips as my eyes shut firmly. 

What the hell?! It hurt me so much!

“Why? Why are you angry?” he whispered in my ears which made me shiver in fear. Yet, I felt my hormones rise unexpectedly. His warm breath fanning my cheek made me feel an inviting sensation between my thighs. 

I bit my lower lip. 

I couldn’t deny I had this strong attraction to this man. Having skin-to-skin contact with him made me in heat. Even though he was hurting me so badly.

“What a horny…” he commented and chuckled arrogantly. It made me realize that he senses my attraction to him, and I hate it.

“Are you angry because I called your father pathetic?” he asked in an innocent tone. As if he had no idea about his evil doings.

“Look, I am just stating the facts. Because before I ended his life, he kneeled in front of me, begging me to spare the life of his begotten daughter. Touching, right?” he said, then chuckled evilly.

“Then, your mother, Catherine, I don’t wanna end her life. I just think that at least I will make her one of the Omegas in my pack. But your mother was stubborn and fought for your dear life. So, she ended up like your father—dead.”

In all the revelations that came out on his lips, at this point, I broke down in tears.

This man, this man who is my mate is the one who killed my parents.

This man, this man is truly evil.

“N-nooo…” I said in a cracked voice and cried. The pain coming from my injured right hand didn’t bother me anymore. What truly hurts me this time is my heart due to my loss.

I looked up at the dark sky. I saw the full moon shine brightly.

How could you be so cruel?

I question the Moon Goddess inside my head as I stare at the moon.

How could you be so cruel that you let my parents die, then my destined mate was the one who killed them, invaded our pack, and destroyed everything we had?

What a cruel joke, Moon Goddess.

I mocked and looked down at the ground due to a loss of hope.

“Pss… Pathetic bitch. Just like her father.”

I heard him whisper before turning his back on me.

In this situation, I never try to escape anymore. His group scattered everywhere that even if I ran as fast as I could, they would surely have caught me in just a second.

There’s no point in running. I didn’t have a family to run for anyway.

“Cage her,” he commanded before finally leaving me with the hands of his men.

A blue-eyed man with white long hair who spoke to my mate earlier approached me. He gently helped me to stand up, which stunned me for a second.

Why was he gentle towards me? I am accepting he will hurt me just like what my mate did.

I looked him in the eyes out of curiosity. I saw he was looking at me too. When our eyes locked, I saw he had something that he wanted to say but holding back.

“Ivan! Make it quick!” 

I flinched and also the man in front of me who's named “Ivan”. 

He averted my gaze and blinked his eyes a couple of times. As if he came back to his senses in deep thought.

We both looked at where the voice came from. I saw my mate looking at us with his usual cold stare. He looked at me intently as if he was trying to read me. After a minute, he smirked and shook his head before walking away.

Ivan started to guide me since my back was still hurt. 

After a minute, I passed out when I felt a solid object smash at the back of my head.
