Lieutenant General Carter

I paced my office floor waiting for the call from Lieutenant Jacobs. I needed this boy found and brought here immediately. With him we could find what we were looking for. We could finally find her and get what we needed. Just when I thought it my phone rang flashing Lieutenant Jacobs name on my screen I quickly swiped to answer.

“Did you get the boy?” I asked impatiently

“Not yet, sir. We are heading there now. Got the address from the case worker.” I heard the ding of an elevator as he said this.

“Don’t take long, and you know what to do if anyone gives you any problems” I reminded. We needed this boy.

“Yes sir.” He said

A few years ago we discovered a special who according to our findings has lived for well over 500 years. We have had specials with healing abilities before, but we’ve found out with testing that they can still die. This special that we found doesn’t seem to be able to die. We need to test it, test her, find that gene and replicate it. The problem was we couldn’t seem to find her. Her name changed so many times we weren’t sure which was the original. Her appearance, too, changed often. She more than likely had an ability to change her appearance.

Either way neither of these abilities were dangerous, just made it hard to find her. No special we know has ever had more than 2 abilities and even those with 2 were rare to find. With this boy we would be able to finally find her and use her to create soldiers that could never die. To sell immortality to those higher up and create an elite race of immortals. I continued to pace ready to have that boy in my office ready to find this special.

About 2 hours later I got a call from Jacobs again. “We got him sir, he’s in the vehicle” I could hear the boy crying in the background and excitement overwhelmed me.

“Great job Jacobs, now hurry and bring him in. Get that crying under control” I couldn’t stand crying.

About 45 minutes after our phone call Jacobs arrived with the boy. “Quickly bring him here” The boy's eyes were red from crying, but thankfully it seemed Jacobs had gotten him to stop.

“Come here boy” I motioned over to him. He looked up at me unsure and scared. “Now!” I yelled. The boy cringed and slowly walked over his lower lip pouting.

“I hear you can find anything I am looking for, is that right?” I asked him, trying to get him to warm up to me. His thumb in his mouth he nodded his head. I handed him a picture of the special we were looking for. “Can you find her? She probably no longer looks like this. Her face may be a little different?” The boy took the picture and just stared at it for a while.

“I no wanna” He said starting to whimper and cry some “I wanna go home” He started sobbing. I sighed annoyed.

“Look if you can find this woman I’ll take you home” I lied.

“Weally?” He asked sniffling.

“Yes really, but it has to be her.” He nodded and looked at the picture again. His eyes closed and I assumed that meant he was doing it. He was looking for her.

“I know dis lady” he said finally opening his eyes. “She nice lady” he smiled.

“Where is she?” I asked impatiently

“I no know” He said.

I looked at him annoyed. “Then how do you know her? I thought you could find anyone”

“She help me.” He said.

“Can you tell me where she lives or her name?”

“Astrid” He responded.

“What’s her last name?” I was so close.

“I no know” I palmed my forehead in frustration.

“Can you point to a map and tell me where she is?” I said remembering that usually, with specials with this ability, a map would help them locate someone. He nodded his head and I had one brought over. “Okay point on the map where is she?”

The boy closed his eyes and hovered his finger over the map moving east then south and pointing straight at the city he was just in. “I am looking for this woman not where you were.” I said frustrated.

“She there” He said as he pointed to Barker street on the map. The special I was looking for was in the same city this child was in. What a coincidence. I looked over at Jacobs with an excited smile.

“Get Captain Laurance to assemble a team of the best retrieval soldiers. Have him pack plenty of blue bullets. Tell him to use lethal force on anyone that stands in his way. I want him there by this afternoon.” I commanded. I patted the small child on the head “Good job little one”

He looked up at me “ I go home now?” he said smiling.

I looked at Jacobs “Take him away. We may need him again later.” The boy frowned looking at me. Jacobs picked him up like a football and the boy started kicking and screaming.

“I want mama” I could hear him yell down the hall as Jacobs took him away. I will finally have my special, have what I most desire. A smile crept to my face
