The mate bond between me and the mysterious man again surfaced. Kira was over the moon after seeing the man who was our mate but his face didn’t give any expression that he recognized me.
But I was still hopeful.
After all he had rescued me.
“Winston Shadwell!”
Alpha Heyden growled but his anger was silenced by an ear-deafening silence.
“She is mine and I am taking her home with me.” The man whose name I finally discovered said.
His voice held authority, fear and an undeniable sense of dominance.
He was claiming me.
“You know that you have breached the pact by invading my pack and killed many powerful alphas here. You won’t walk out from here alive.” Saying this, Heyden launched towards the man and in a blink of moment, he had shifted in his massive wolf.
I hid in a corner ready for another violent bloodbath between two alphas.
“Really, Heyden? You want to challenge me for a duel?” Winston mocked him with a sinister laughter and what I saw next, it almost made me shriek.
His wolf was different, he was larger than Heyden and standing on his two feet, his eyes were bloodshot red.
Two men were ready to kill each other but the outcome seemed one-sided. He was a different creature, he wasn’t a werewolf.
“I am giving you one last chance to survive. I just want the girl and I’ll leave.” Winston said.
He could speak in his wolf form!
But Heyden tilted his head in my direction. I saw menace and a sinister gleam in his eyes.
“Alpha, please, don’t…don’t hurt me.” I begged him.
He took predatory steps towards me.
But in the next moment, the creature blocked my sight. He was shielding me.
“If you take another step towards her, consider your pack in ruins, Heyden. I said she is mine and I am ready to pay for the compensation of the damage I had done.” Winston said.
He was holding himself back from killing Heyden.
“I can’t believe a lycan’s words. Your race is deceiver. You are an outcast in our world. Our Goddess despises your existence.” Heyden mocked him.
“Yet we’re more powerful than petty werewolves. I am here to take what is mine. I am the one who has claimed this girl before and I don’t share what’s mine.” He stated proudly but his words broke my heart.
He only considered me as his property, a possession that his male ego didn’t want to give up. It was clear that he couldn’t recognize my scent or connect with Kira.
“Fifty million dollar for the damage I have done. I am taking her with me. Consider our pact annulled. You held an auction and sold stolen girls but this girl is sacred. You dared to impure what belongs to the lycan king.” Winston stated proudly.
My eyes went wide hearing his words. He was no ordinary wolf but the infamous lycan king.
Surprisingly, Heyden didn’t react impulsively.
“You can take her but it will mark the beginning of a forever war. Either we’ll win or you’ll perish with your entire breed, Winston Shadwell.” Heyden threatened him.
“We’ll see, Alpha.”
There was a momentary silence before the handsome creature turned to face me and his expressions softened when our eyes met.
“Time to go home, little dove.”
His voice was as smooth as honey but it still held so much dominance that it paralyzed my vocal cords.
He knelt down to my level and our eyes matched. I could see in their depth.
I searched the traces of emotions that I experienced a night ago but failed as fear gripped me.
“Averine Cullen, I said get up. We’re going to your new home.” He repeated, this time his voice held firmness.
“Alpha, please, don’t hurt me.” I said barely in a whisper.
I never came across a lycan and there was their king who was asking me to come with him.
“Do you really think that I’d kill you, little dove?” He mused.
“You bought me from him.” I said with lowered head and it pained my heart to see him acting like a pure stranger.
“I didn’t buy you, little dove. You are already mine. He had stolen you from me. I told you the moment that you’ll be marked as mine the moment I touch you. Now, you are mine. So, you are coming to my home.” He said.
His voice held possession.
At that point, I didn’t know what I should have felt. I was excited that finally I was reunited with my fated mate but at the same time, I was terrified and uncertain because he didn’t see me as his mate but a price for his pride.
“I hate waiting, little dove. Are you coming or should I pick you?” His voice broke my chain of conflicting thoughts.
“Alpha Heyden will strike a war against you if you take me with you. My father has sold me to him.” I stated and his eyes darkened.
“I will kill Alpha Gavin Cullen with my bare hands and the war has already begun, Averine.” He placed his fingers under my chin and forced me to look at him.
“What do you mean, Alpha?” I asked with a hard gulp.
“You heard me well, little dove. I am not leaving your bastard father who dared to hurt you. Like I said, you became mine the moment I touched you, Averine. I can see you also bear my mark. A mark I should have given to my mate.” He said and his fingers touched his mark on my neck.
An electrifying sensation run through my body cells.
“Even if you're not my fated mate I’ll marry you, Averine Cullen.”

AverineDark, cold basement has always been my home.No matter where I’d go, my solitude and pain were my companions in my lonely, tragic life.Alpha Hayden brought me to his pack forcefully. I begged my father to kill me because death was a better punishment than being a s*x slave to the cruel alpha whose wolves had beaten me.I was waiting for my ultimate fate.To serve Alpha Hayden’s lust. They had infused me with wolfsbane to make Kira weak and without her, it was more than a nightmare for me.The doors burst open and I heard footsteps entering.“I don’t know what our alpha had seen in a wolf like her. She is half human and barely has flesh on her body. I am sure she won’t survive the night. Our alpha is a beast in the bed.”I heard those people mocking me but their latter words scared me more.“Hey, get up!” They grabbed my arms and forcefully made me sit.Their nails dug in my skin.“Are you ready to please our alpha tonight, petty human?” The female guard smirked at me.They un
AverineWhen I opened my eyes as sunrays fell on my face through the window, I was alone in the bed, there was no sign of my mate but his scent lingered in the air.My heart sank with all the negative thoughts. The soreness in my body was the evidence that I had given myself to the man who was my mate. I collected my dress and wore it. I had to search him.“Averine, I can’t feel him. He is gone.” Zora howled in agony.“No, he must be around. Perhaps, he is gone for running or hunting.” I tried to consol her butI tried to slip out of the bed when the doors burst open. I was startled and Zora was quickly in her defence mode but when my father along with Amara and other pack members walked through the door.“Father..” I bowed my head but a harsh slap landed on my cheek and the intensity threw me on the floor.A low guttural sound escaped from his throat. Shame and disgust were what I saw in his eyes and Amara smirking beside him.“You brought disgrace to my name, Averine. You proved th
