CHAPTER 60

ZYLIAH'S POV

"Let's take you home first, Zee. Then we'll have Fynn come see you." My friends promised, their smiles supportive.

I felt really relieved and relaxed. Not to say these other faces that had been in here with me weren't nice, except for just one of them though, I just didn't know them.

It felt strange being in their midst. I had no idea what to say to them. And at this point, I wanted familiarity. People I knew and recognized.

The doctor said I had selective amnesia. I didn't know how true that was, but it still didn't change the fact that I wasn't quite comfortable being in the nice man in a wheelchair and the woman with a kind smile and caring, wise eyes' presence.

The temperamental one had left the room again, muttering to himself, his face set stoically. It gave me jitters for no explainable reason.

"Home? My dad's? That's good too," I agreed, trying not to meet any other face in the room except for Delia's and Natalie's.

"No, we..." But I saw the slight n

CHAPTER 63SABRINA’S POVI stared at my reflection, tears tracking down the purple-black bruises around my eyes. I’d just finished my bath. Why did it always have to end with him hitting me? What was so important about his outing that he had to ruin my body and face?Just because I couldn’t get pregnant. Maybe it was time to call Mom and ask for some advice. But that would be later.Right now, all I wanted to do was— The shrill tone of my phone ringing abruptly silenced the rest of my thoughts.I walked over to the bedside drawer to get it. It was Lucy—one of my wealthier, high-society friends."Hello, Luce." I forced cheerfulness into my voice. My friends must never know what happened in my home—it would be embarrassing and downright humiliating."Hey, girl. How are you?" she asked, her voice light and perky."I’m good. You?" I eased myself down onto the bed."Same." I could almost envision her nodding, her curls bouncing wildly in every direction. "There’s good news.”"Oh?" My left

CHAPTER 62 FYNN'S POV "Where are you off to?" My wife, who'd just stirred awake, watched me with half-sleepy eyes that were also laced with curiosity. "What do you mean, 'where am I off to?' What? Am I not allowed to leave the house I pay for anymore?" A little irritated, my words had some bite in them. She rubbed her palms over her eyes and let out a huge yawn after trying to stifle it to no avail. "No one said you can't leave, Fynn. It's just... I mean, it's weekend, and you don't go to the office unless it's really important, and even those times are rare." She was right. Still, I didn't want to answer her. My relationship with her these days was complicated. Our marriage now felt like a 'just on paper' commitment. Seriously, even if I hadn't ended up with Zyliah, Sabrina should have been the last person to replace her. She was useless as a wife. Even as a woman. All she knew was partying and shopping. She basically thought giving me sex at the end of each day I returned fr

CHAPTER 61ANTHONY'S POV"You finally decided to come home, hm?" I glared heatedly at the woman I was now thinking I'd made the mistake of marrying. To think I'd loved her and accepted her daughter, loved and treated her as much as I'd loved Zyliah, my own flesh and blood. Even more, sometimes, I realized shamefully. She glared back. "And when did you start caring about my life, my dear husband?"Her tone held anything but endearment. "You cheating bitch! You refused to come home for the past few days because you were too busy with your boy toy, huh?" I raged. Our marriage might be crumbling—correction, definitely crumbling—but I would refuse this height of insult she planned on throwing in my face and name. Her eyes flashed with an emotion I couldn't decipher before it melted away to give room for a cold, unperturbed gaze. "What boy toy are you talking about, Anthony?! Are you planning on ruining my reputation, hm?""Giving what I was shown a few days back, I don't think you have a

CHAPTER 59SAYGE’S POV"What the hell just happened in there, Dr. Finney?!" I raised my voice once we were out of Private Ward 16 and in his office. Both my grandma and dad were present but were currently standing there, saying nothing."She hit her head, Sayge." He began, infusing patience that grated my angry nerves. Damn! Why was he sounding so cool, as though what we had just witnessed was nothing worth the reaction burning through me?"And fucking so?" I ranted on, because even though I knew cases like this weren’t rare, I just never expected it would be Zyliah's case.He sighed, and his eyes briefly flicked over where my family stood before settling back on me. "She has amnesia.”"Yes, that much is clear. But I thought amnesiac patients were supposed to remember nothing. Zyliah seems to remember every other person and event of her life but me… I mean, us. Her kids." I quickly added at the slight quirk of the doctor's brow. And from his gaze, I could very well guess what he was t

CHAPTER 58ZYLIAH’S POVThis woman with a beautiful set of rich brown eyes stared at me in both shock and disbelief. There was confusion too.Silence thickened, making me uncomfortable. I hated that I was in the midst of it—likely the reason all of their gazes were pinned on me.Why were they here? What even happened to me that had me in the hospital? Where's Dad? Fynn?"Hey, Zyliah. Look at me, darling." The woman smiled—a soft curve of her lips that made her look even more beautiful. But there was sadness behind it."H… How do you know my name?" I sounded strange, even to my own ears."Because we know you," she replied patiently."But I...I don't."She reached out a hand. Just out of caution, I withdrew. I saw that made her even sadder—but still, a glimmer of hope remained."Please, I'd like to see my dad. Or Fynn." Then I remembered my best friends, the names rising suddenly in my head. "What about Natalie and Delia? I want to see them.”The one who looked like he was the doctor me
