It was some minutes past 6pm. Caitlyn Hugh was dragging her tired feet back home after a long day at work.

As she walked along the lonely road, she looked back at intervals, hoping for a cab to appear. Although she was very much aware that cabs do not ply that road, Caitlyn prayed for a miracle.

She took out her phone from the small bag she hung on her shoulder and connected her headset to the device. She was going to click play on her favourite music, but the sound of a car honking halted her.

She stopped walking, and the car stopped, too. Inwardly, Caitlyn hoped that the owner of the car would offer her a ride- she was so exhausted to the point of accepting an offer without caring if the driver was a stranger or not.

The owner of the car, as it appeared, opened the car's door after switching off the car's engine. She wondered why. 'If he was going to ask to give me a lift, he definitely would not switch his car's engine off.'

She furrowed her brows slightly and watched closely at whatever was happening. His feet, covered with a shiny black shoe, came out first, before him.

He closed the door with such force that made her shake with fear and take a step away. She bent a little to get a glimpse of his face, as it appeared like he was hiding it.

However, as though he read her mind, he raised his head to face her. Caitlyn gasped slightly as she saw his face. 'Is he a water god?' She thought he looked too handsome to be a human.

She could see his sharp, blue eyes sparkling as she stared into them, with his long lashes complementing them. His eyebrows were carved so beautifully.

His lips were pink and plump; They looked succulent. She traced her eyes down to his broad shoulders. He wore a singlet that exposed his fair, and spotless skin.

She gulped down nothing as her eyes stopped at his biceps. She nearly reached forward to place her hands on them. She could imagine how tiny her hands would be if placed on them.

Her eyes moved away from his biceps and continued their journey down to his long legs. He stood at a height of about six feet and some inches.

'If I were to kiss him, I would have to stand on my toes, and he would still have to bend his head to meet my lips' she thought and bit her lips seductively. The man stared at her; he was angry and confused.

He wore a black baggy trouser that matched his white singlet. “Hello?” he called in his deep masculine voice. Caitlyn was too lost, she thought the voice came from a distant place. Though, she loved how soothing the voice sounded.

Still lost in staring at the man in front of her, her small, round lips began to stretch into a smile. Soon, she was grinning widely.

“Hello?” it came again again- the voice. This time, with a harsh tap on her right shoulder. She flinched and returned to reality. She looked around trying to find the sweet voice that dared to interrupt her moment.

“miss?” the man spoke again. This time, Caitlyn was fully conscious and knew exactly where the voice came from. She slowly turned to face him, the voice owner, her Mr handsome.

As her gaze met his, he waved his hand with an indescribable look on his face. She nearly melted. 'How could one be so handsome and also be blessed with such a beautiful voice!?' Inwardly, she cried. A cry of excitement.

“You have been staring at me for minutes, miss. If you're done, I would like to drive into my building. You're blocking the way.” Caitlyn was lost again. Now, in his voice.

She was unable to hear nor understand a word he said. She could only hear his voice and watch his attractive lips moving. A smile appeared on her face again.

“Excuse me, miss! I have to drive my car in. Are you even listening!?” he yelled. That made him look more attractive in the young woman's eyes. His brows were furrowed; that made his face different. Fierce. And his voice became more masculine.

His thick, manly hands grabbed her shoulders. That moment, she melted. Her heart raced, and her lips nearly had a tear from her wide grin.

His grip on her shoulders was tight, but she loved it. Suddenly, his hands left her shoulders. Her heart fell. She felt disappointed that second.

However, in the next second, she was lifted off the floor by two strong arms. She was stunned at first, but she soon relaxed and began to admire his face again.

The man only wished for one thing; to get rid of the mentally ill woman pestering him. Caitlyn's heart almost bursted as a result of excitement. She wrapped her hands around his neck, her gaze still not leaving his face.

Her smile remained stamped on her face. She had no idea where he was taking her, and she gave less regard to that. She made up her mind to go with him wherever he decided to take her. She wanted to be lost in the world she suddenly found herself in, forever.

She was still relishing being carried by her Mr handsome when he suddenly dropped her carelessly.

Her buttocks hit the ground so hard she nearly screamed at him; but for her sudden love and admiration for him, she would have. As soon as he dropped her, the man gave her a disgusting look before he turned and walked away.

She had expected at least a sorry from

him. 'Is he the handsome without manners type?' She thought as she slowly stood up. She dusted her skirt as she hurried back to his car.

“Hey!” she knocked on his car window. He sighed and attempted to open the door. Just then, the gate to his house opened.

Chapter 32"Good morning, sir," Caitlyn stood up and greeted as lawyer Bernard walked into her office. "Get ready. There's somewhere we need to be in two minutes," He told her and turned to walk out immediately, ignoring her greeting. She knew something was amiss. Perhaps, a serious case to be handled by them. She couldn't point it out, but she knew already that the day would be a busy one. She hurriedly checked her bag to see if every necessary item was in it. After confirming, she picked up her phone from the desk, hung her bag over her shoulder, and quickly walked out of her office. She met her boss standing beside his office and they both walked out of the building together."Take us to the Greys," He told his driver when they were in the car. Caitlyn tilted her head to face him. "The Greys? Why are we going there, sir?"They had handled a case for that family in the previous year and Caitlyn regretted it. They were a powerful family with so many enemies who were prepared to sh

Chapter 31"Wow!" Caitlyn breathe out as she walked into Martin's home after he did. "It's so beautiful!" She complimented, her eyes roaming around. "...and huge!" She added. Martin couldn't help but smile. "C'mon, let's go to the kitchen. Help me with the bags," He said and began walking away, carrying four bags- two in each hand. Caitlyn hurriedly picked up the three bags she brought in and followed him, her eyes still wandering about. A heavy breath escaped her throat as they entered the kitchen. "Do you live here alone?" She blurted out, unable to keep the question in. The house looked too big for one person. "Well, not really. My gatekeeper and I share the building," He answered, placing the bags on the large table in the middle. "How?" Caitlyn muttered before trailing off. She thought the house was too big for just him. "What do you mean how?" Martin asked with a raised brow. He started bringing out the items in the bags one after the other, while Caitlyn still stood with

Chapter 30"Can I come in?" Kate asked her"Sure! Please, " Caitlyn responded and opened the door wider. "Your apartment is so warm! I love it," She commended as she looked around Caitlyn's room. Caitlyn smiled and drew out the chair facing her dressing table. "Take your seat," She told her, pointing to the single chair in the room. "Isn't yours like this?""Well, yeah. Not exactly, though. I just have a bed and my clothes in it. I recently left my parents' home to start my independent life," Kate replied with a small chuckle. "It truly can be quite hard at the start. I left mine a few years ago and I kid you not, it was crazy.""You're right. I only have a few bucks left as we speak. I might visit them for groceries next week," She said and laughed. Caitlyn smiled. "You should. They'd be happy to help.""I'm checking around for a job. I just need them to cover me until then.""What type of job are you looking for?""Honestly, I'm going to take anyone that comes with good pay.""W

Chapter 29"Sit," He said and pointed to one of the chairs opposite his. Caitlyn took her seat quietly. "Coffee?" He asked after taking his seat. Caitlyn shook her head negatively."Why did you ask for me to come here?" Caitlyn voiced out the question in her head."Well," Martin started, scratching the back of his neck nervously. "We've become pretty much close. I visit your home and even call your phone. It's not something I do with any lady.""Right. From the little I know, it's very unlike you," Caitlyn concurred with a small chuckle."Right. For two days, I've been thinking of the right way to ask you this. I'm unsure of how you'd take it."Caitlyn maintained a calm and focused expression even though her heart was thumping hard against her chest. 'Where's he driving to? Is he trying to ask me out?' She wondered. She could feel her raising heart in her throat. She swallowed. "Go ahead and ask.""Well, I don't have groceries anymore and I'm too busy to go to a grocery store to rest

Chapter 28"She loves you, bro. She loves you so damn much," Herald said in between pants. Martin Sat on the floor, his hands wrapped around his folded legs. He was panting slightly too. "If she does, she wouldn't threaten me with that every time we have a little problem."Herald heaved a sigh. "You need to talk to her about that.""I'm taking legal actions already. I only have a few things left to do and she wouldn't have that power anymore."Herald's broken lips managed to form a smile. "I'm sorry for what happened, earlier," He muttered an apology after a moment of silence. Martin stood on his feet without a word. He looked down at his brother. "Come on," He stretched his right hand to him. Herald looked up at him and quickly took his hand. He helped his brother up and took him inside. "I'll go get the kit," He told him before walking away. ... "Good morning!" Caitlyn greeted cheerfully as she walked to her office. A minute after she settled down, a call from Martin came in.S

  • CAITLYN   fight

Chapter 27It was a Saturday, and Caitlyn was at home. Bored and too lazy to cook, she lay curled up on her bed and shut her eyes.It was one of those days she wished she was at work. As she lay on her bed, she buried herself in deep thoughts; mostly that of her mother. She missed her mother greatly as the woman was the only family she had left. "Make some friends, Caitlyn. You need them," Her mother's words echoed in her head. She wished she had listened and befriended people. She was alone without a friend, family, or lover. Her neighbors weren't friendly so they never spoke except it was an important matter. She heaved a sigh and turned to the other side, her body still curled. "Was I cursed?" She wondered seriously. A lady of her age isn't meant to be as lonely as she was. Her 24th birthday was coming up. She knew that only lawyer Bernard would remember to wish her since her mother who used to be the first already died. Caitlyn sighed again and slowly sat up. "I miss you, mom,
