Chapter 55

The sky was lit with colours of pink, red and orange. A soft breeze blew and stirred up dust into the air. The land was filled with small shrubs, cacti, dry grass and sand. It was like everything around us went in slow motion.

I had time to describe every detail of Axels face, and how his body hit the ground. He landed face first with his eyes still open while his blood seeped into the sand. His arms were at his side and his knees bent to the side.

He didn't breathe, he didn't blink, he didn't move. Even when Kiara screamed his name and wind flew dust towards us. He wasn't bothered. He just lay there.

Then suddenly everything went back to normal speed as another shot went off and hit one tire of the van, making it sink down to the rim.

My body jerked into motion as I grabbed Kiara and pulled her behind the side of the van, incase the sniper tried to shoot us.

"Stay here, Kiara!" I yelled and looked from her tearing eyes to peek around the door to see where the sniper shot from.
