Twenty

I stormed past the bar, making eye contact with Sam as I walked past, by the look in her eyes I could tell she was concerned for me, but if I explained everything now, I knew I would turn into and emotional crying mess.

“I need ten minutes.” I said a little more stiffly than I would have liked, Sam did not deserve attitude from me, but I was so white hot mad it just leaked out into my words. Sam being Sam, she just nodded and let me go.

I made my way out the back door to the loading dock and went straight up the stairs to my apartment. Only after the door closed behind me did I allow myself to lose my composure a little. I kicked the heels off my feet and halfway across the floor.  Stomping barefoot into the bathroom, I grabbed the curls I’d so carefully created and pulled my hair up into a high ponytail instead.
