The air was silent apart from the sound of our footsteps, it was past midnight so everyone in the pack had dozed off by now, getting some rest to continue their lives next morning.
Dad was a few steps ahead of us, he hasn't spoken to me since we returned from the cabin. I study his tensed shoulders indicating he was lost in his thoughts.
Mom was walking beside me, her eyes were focused on her mate. I'm sure she could sense his worry through their bond.
Maybe even read his thoughts?
Mom fastens her steps to reach dad leaving me behind observing them. She silently falls in step with him, dad gives her a quick glance then reverts his eyes back to the path.
