There were still some hours left before the company closes but Diane had no intention of returning to work for the day. She made a quick call to the secretary about her decision while she waited at a traffic light in the car she just rented.
She drove slowly but purposefully to the apartment she bought a few months ago in another part of the city.
She had believed it would rot away because she never knew she would have a need for it and now that house seems like a savior to her shattered self.
A phone rang, startling her out of her reverie. She grudgingly fished out the device from her handbag and lost focus on the road.
The moment she picked up the phone it flew out of her hand as she jerked forward suddenly almost hitting her head on steering. She sat shocked for a few seconds before calming down.
She came out of the car immediately to check what happened, apparently the traffic light had turned green and she didn't realize until the driver behind her rammed into the car she just rented.
"What sort of day is this?" Diane thought painfully to herself as she assessed the damage done to the car.
The little accident had caused a disturbance and other drivers threw looks at her while some cursed at her before moving on with their journey.
Diane knocked on the window of the car that just hit her car but got no response.
The car was definitely expensive with tinted glass.
She had expected the person driving to come out immediately when the accident occurred.
"What if something has happened to him?" She pondered before knocking again but louder this time.
The tinted window rolled down, she stared at the young man behind the wheel who was staring at her quite unfocused. He looked like he was still in shock from the collision.
"Are you alright?" Diane asked with concern as she was trying to figure out why the man's face looks familiar. She doesn't remember knowing him but he doesn't look like someone she knew.
"Maybe a business client" she thought before his croaked reply came seconds later.
"No, I don't think so." He replied.
"There are no external injuries, maybe just a little concussion. Let me get you to a hospital" Diane said out of courtesy as she doesn't know what to do.
She definitely doesn't want to take him to a hospital but she was the cause of the accident so she wants to defuse the feeling of guilt.

"Hey baby!" Rhea's cheerful voice drifted into Diane's ear through the Bluetooth device she wore while driving.
"Are you at work?" Diane asked immediately, not wanting to indulge in any conversation.
Rhea was one of her childhood friends, they have been together for longer years than she can recall but the woman is always as cheerful as ever despite the nature of her work.
Diane couldn't help but admire her friends' forever positive energy despite being surrounded by deaths and sick people everyday.
"Yes I am" Rhea replied as she got excited again.
"Are you coming over?, are you?" She asked expectantly.
"Yes, I have a little problem. We will talk when I get there" Diane replied and ended the call immediately.
She glanced over at the person she was driving to the hospital hoping his problem is not more than a mild concussion with his head suspended to the side and his breath evened out as he had fallen asleep.
His sleeping position was a little awkward but Diane was relieved.
"What happened? Did you hit him? Rhea asked in a whisper as they came out of the room where the man was being treated.
" Have you ever known me to be violent?" Diane asked, offended.
"No but it might not be physical maybe with your words" Rhea continued with her unreasonable assumption while laughing at Diane's expression.
"How do you even manage to be a doctor? Your way of thinking is out of this world"Diane asked, striking back at her unreasonable friend and got a scowl in response.
" Are you sure you earned your degree the right way?" Diane continued to take jabs at her.
"No, I stole the degree. You little naughty girl" Diane replied.
"He is just a stranger, I don't know anything about him. Can I go home now if you don't need me anymore doctor?" Diane said with exhaustion, stopping any further assumption from her wild friend.
"Are you sure he is just a stranger because he looks so hot?" Rhea asked again, ignoring Diane's killing gaze and deciding to indulge in her novelty imaginations.
"Rhea do you like him?" Diane asked, suddenly catching Rhea unprepared.
"No!, why would you think of something as absurd as that" Rhea replied laughing nervously.
She had feared that her friend had caught her. She felt drawn to the injured man and couldn't stop staring at him when he was being treated, which was so unusual of her but she just couldn't help it.

"What do you mean you haven't seen him since noon?" A man asked in a cold tone.
He countenance remained unchanged as he sat in the dimly lit room.
He appeared to be unfazed by the news of his brother's whereabouts unknown but the subordinate before him knows better.
It was calm before the storm.
" He said he would be back in a few minutes but hasn't returned, we are still searching for him" The man replied, shaking slightly in fear at the pressure he was facing.
He was literally crying inside praying for a saviour.
He felt ecstatic when a single wave of hand waved him out of the room in dismissal.
He breathed out in relief when he was out of the room.
"Good morning Miss Diane" the secretary greeted her respectively as she walked into the office hurriedly. She nodded in reply without glancing at the other woman. She doesn't have time to waste, she had intended to skip work today because of what happened between her and Michael but later changed her mind. She has important work related issues to attend to than wallowing in her stupidity. She doesn't want her relationship to get in the way of work. The company is more important than her pathetic love life.Diane broods as she arranges the documents she needs for the morning's meeting. The meeting is very important and she can't afford to mess it up, situations like this are always handled by Michael but she can't bear staying in the same
Diane walked slowly inside even if she wished she could walk right back out the direction she was coming.Micheal is truly in a meeting with someone, a business partner. The man whose eyes never cease to caress her body whenever they meet and always gross her just like right now."I thought you said she wasn't around," the pot bellied man said to Michael while staring at Diane like he always does."I'm sorry for interrupting your meeting, I just want to pick a document" Diane said in a crispy manner while she ignored the disgusting looks from the older man and pretended to search for a document and was about to leave the room when the door to the bathroom opened and a lady came out.Diane stopped i
Gregg sat helplessly as his next patient wasn't responding to questions which was making things difficult for him."How long do you intend to waste my time? Gregg asked, feeling the urge to snap at the unbothered patient but he couldn't because he isn't just a patient but also his best friend. He decided to keep tolerating him rather than chasing him away because it has been a long time since he has agreed to pay him a visit as a patient." Do you want to chase me out?Do you know how much work I left behind to come here and you want me to go away?Jeremy asked as he sensed his friend was growing impatient with him."I'm not chasing you away, I can't even do so if I want to.". Gregg replied while rolling his eyes.
"Where on earth have you been?!, I have been trying to reach you for two days now." Rhea's loud yelling made Diane pull the device from her ear as she fears losing her sense of hearing. "I have been very worried, Michael was not picking up my calls too", she continued to rant. " I'm so sorry, I have been occupied these days and I think Micheal didn't see your calls or he would have returned them". Diane lied smoothly to save herself from her enraged friend. "So What's up". Diane asked as the other end grew silent. She has been trying to put her apartment in order for almost an hour now. She needed to do so if she intended to live here. " Where are you, Diane?" Rhea asked, addressing Diane by her name which she hasn't done in a long time now. "I'm home" Diane replied, pausing what she was doing. "Which home?" She asked again, in a surprisingly low voice. "Where are you?" Diane asked as she felt something was off with her friend. "I'm at your house and after ringing the fucking d
Jeremy smiled slightly as he imagined things going according to plan, he would be the happiest person alive. He subconsciously dial Gregg's number to tell him about his new intention but he contemplated on telling him because of his nagging behavior."Hello..Gregg's grumpy voice reached his ear and he could almost see his friend's disgruntled expression." Did I disturb your sleep?" Jeremy asked in a caring way."Just say what you have to say, I have picked your call already." Gregg replied, stifling the urge to yell at him."It seems you are in a good mood this morning, but this is just 7am don't you think it's too early to call someone?" Gregg
Diane POV"Why have you sent me an invitation? I asked, feeling a hot rush of anger from within me.Did I just get tricked?." Because you need a job," he replied."How do you know I need a job?"." Because you just admitted to that" He replied with a smile, I got trapped by how handsome when he smiled and forgot myself for a second.Did I just get played?I couldn't keep the thought out of my head."Well, thanks for the offer but I'm not interested" I said and stood immediately."Why?" He asked with a slight shocked lo
Diane's POVThe murderous loud noise of devices ringing jolt me out of my deep sleep, I stretch a hand to stop the alarm clock before picking up my also ringing phone.I had slept late last night, that is why I set an alarm. I usually don't need to use it because my body was once used to waking early but after staying home for almost a month I had to go back to using an alarm unless I would be late for work.Yeah! I'm working again."What is it?" I said into the phone, the words came out slurred and raspy."Wow!, that is a rude way to speak to your boss". a masculine voice said into my ear and I realized I didn't check the caller before picking the ca
"No, I don't" Jeremy replied while staring at her face, he wondered why she asked such a question unexpectedly."Okay now I get it, Good bye. See you tomorrow" Diane said and wanted to open the door but he still wasn't letting go of it."Let me drive you home," he offered quietly. He did not want to keep her if she was eager to go home but he also wanted to spend more time with her hence he decided to drive her."You don't need to" Diane felt it was wrong to accept the help."Your car broke down this morning, it won't be good if it does the same thing again" With that being said he knew he would be able to persuade."Okay" she grudgingly accepted after ponderin
