The bitter truth

Alexa lay down on the bed throughout the night, not able to catch any sleep.

She was determined to find out who Gabrielle was, and what he wanted with her.

Her stomach rumbled loudly, reminding her that she hadn't eaten anything throughout the day, not even water.

She could hear keys clicking on the lock outside the room- someone was trying to get in.

She tiptoed to the side of the door, holding a broom in her hand. The clicking suddenly stopped, and the door opened slowly

She was about to strike, when she saw Ava walk in. Ava looked at her in shock, and hurriedly locked the door so no one would see them.

"Shhhhhhhh don't make a sound" Ava hushed her, turning off the light.

Alexa was stunned. Ava came in with some bread, milk and cheese.

"Here, I brought you food. I figured you might be starving, and they were a few left overs." Ava whispered, handing the food over to Alexa.

"Ohh thank you ma'am." Alexa's eyes beamed with gratitude.

"I might be killed if the master finds out. After eating, hide the basket and I'll come back for it tomorrow morning. Ava said, getting ready to leave.

"Wait!" Alexa held her wrist, stopping her from moving.

"I won't eat unless you stay"

Ava's eyes widened in fear. Alexa was going to put her in a lot of trouble .

"My dear, I'm already in trouble for bringing you food. I went against the master's orders. We'll talk tomorrow morning." Ava urged Alexa, loosening her grip.

But Alexa was determined, holding onto her More and more. Her eyes glistening with tears.

Ava was moved. She wondered why a sweet girl like Alexa would be involved with a ruthless man like Gabrielle.

"Okay, I'll stay until you're done eating. But be fast about it. You don't want to be caught do you?" Ava mumbled, sitting on the bed.

Alexa sat close to Ava, devouring the food. So many questions were running through her mind, and she was going to ask Ava everyone of them.

"Who is your master, Gabrielle?" Alexa asked, gulping down the milk.

Ava rolled her eyes, already aware of where the conversation was headed.

"He is Gabrielle Casanova. The famous mafia boss, and head of the Casanova group of companies." Ava said.

Alexa gasped. Olivia had said the same thing at the hospital. If he really is a ruthless mafia boss, then she really is in deep trouble.

But Gabrielle had acted nicely to her earlier, and she was even placed in a beautiful room.

Was he in love with her?

No, impossible.

"What does he want with me? I mean, why all this treatment?" Alexa sighed, frustrated.

"Only the master can answer that." Ava stuttered, avoiding eye contact with Alexa.

Alexa knew something was wrong. That question had made Ava uneasy, and she was sure Ava knew the answer to everyone of her questions.

"Please ma'am, I need you to tell me the truth." Alexa pleaded.

Ava sighed. Alexa was trouble.

"Okay fine. The master has an allergy towards women. I heard the men whispering that he had a one night stand with a stranger, and that he was madly in love with her. His allergy was gone almost immediately, and he went to the hospital just the be sure. He couldn't stop thinking about the girl, and sent his men to fetch her, and that girl my dear, is you." Ava summarized.

Everything now made sense!

That was the reason why Gabrielle was in the hospital in the first place! And the fool! He was the one that defiled her, and still abducted her!

Alexa suddenly felt indescribable resentment towards Gabrielle.

"I think the master is in love with you Alexa. I have never seen him behave this way towards any female before." Ava teased, stroking her hair.

Alexa didn't smile. She felt used. She was in her most vulnerable state, and Gabrielle took advantage of her.

" I understand what you might be going through, but i can assure you that the master would take good care of you." Ava added.

Alexa understood that Gabrielle liked her, but keeping her locked up with threats of starving her? No one does that to someone they love.

The bread suddenly became stale in Ava's mouth, as she lost her appetite. Her anger towards Gabrielle's grew by every passing minute.

She detested him.

Alot.

********************************

The moon shone brightly into the room like a scene from a fairy tale movie.

The two women sat down in the comfort of each other, one nestled in the warmth of the other.

Ava suddenly took a liking for Alexa. She felt sorry for her, and was on the lookout for her.

Silence haunted the room, as they were both lost in thoughts.

Silent sobs emerged from Alexa's throat as Ava patted her back gently.

How was she going to escape from this ruthless mafia boss? The look of him alone was terrifying, and one command from his lips could have her head hung on a stake.

"I should be on my way now, and you should be asleep. You've had a very rough day." Ava suggested, picking up the basket.

"Can you help me get out of here?" Alexa asked, startling Ava.

"Goodness no!! I could be killed for that." Ava whispered, her hand covering her mouth .

"It should be the master's decision if he wants you to go or not." She continued.

Alexa was disgusted.

Was this the way things were run here? if yes, then Gabrielle must be a monster.

Ava kissed Alexa goodnight, and went over to open the door.

Her basket fell from her hand as she screamed in fear.

She met a pair of blue eyes staring back at her from the darkness.

- Gabrielle.

"going somewhere Ava?" He asked with a mischievous smirk on his face.

Ava was too frightened to talk, her whole body trembling with fear.

She didn't think Gabrielle was still awake. she was doomed.

Antonio was waiting in the garden when Olivia and Alexa returned. He stood with his arms folded, suit jacket still on from work, tie loosened but posture rigid. His expression alone made Olivia’s stomach drop.He knew. Not everything ,but enough. As soon as Alexa slipped upstairs to rest, Olivia braced herself. Antonio didn’t speak until he heard Alexa’s steps fade. Then…“You went into the city,” he said, voice low. “Without guards. Without telling me. And without Gabrielle’s clearance.”Olivia exhaled. “Tone down the General Casanova routine. We had errands.”He didn’t buy it for a second. His jaw flexed.“Olivia, you think I’m stupid?”She winced. “No. Just… overprotective.”“Overprotective?” Antonio stepped closer, eyes dark with restrained anger. “Olivia,I thought we trusted each other enough to talk about things before they escalate into something dangerous.”She opened her mouth, but he raised a hand, holding back his frustration.“Tell me the truth. What happened out there?”O

  • Choke me daddy! (one night stand with a mafia boss.)   The grey coat

Alexa barely slept.Even after the messages stopped, even after Olivia insisted on staying in her room until dawn crept slowly and uncertain across the windows, Alexa’s mind wouldn’t quiet. The warning replayed in her head like a broken chant:You’re being followed.Don’t trust the new guards. One of them works for Voss.It felt unreal and yet frighteningly, painfully real at the same time. Every shadow in the hallway seemed to stretch longer. Every familiar sound now felt like a threat in disguise.By morning, Alexa had made her decision. She needed answers . real answers, not guesses and fears. She needed to know who the man in the gray coat was… and why he was following her.Olivia wasn’t thrilled about her plan, but she didn’t stop her. She never did. Olivia was the kind of friend who would follow her into fire without asking a single question and that was exactly what Alexa needed now.***********They left the mansion mid-morning, pretending they were going out for brunch. Alexa read the message again, even though she’d already deleted it. The words clung to the inside of her mind like a stain:He’s not safe. Don’t tell him I warned you.The kitchen felt suddenly smaller, shadows stretching long across the counter. Outside, thunder rolled again, but this time she wasn’t sure if the sound came from the sky or her heartbeat. She checked the windows. Nothing but the restless sway of the rain-heavy trees. She checked the hallway. Empty. Too empty.A memory flickered of the guard last night, the flash drive, the whispers behind Gabrielle’s closed office door. Someone was close enough to enter their home. Someone was close enough to send her this. But who?Ava returned from her break, humming softly as she wiped her hands on her apron. Alexa snapped upright, forcing her breathing into something normal.“You okay, dear?” Ava asked, brows lifting.“Yes,” Alexa lied. “Just tired.”Ava didn’t push. She rarely did. But her watchful eyes followed Alexa as she left

The city market was alive with color that morning , the kind of chaotic beauty Alexa hadn’t seen in weeks. Instead of going to the mall, they chose the market so that she could take mind off things. The scent of fresh bread, roasted coffee, and cut flowers mixed with the chatter of vendors and the clatter of carts. For once, there were no guards shadowing her openly. Gabrielle had insisted on a discreet escort, but they kept their distance, blending with the crowd. It felt almost normal. The rain had returned. It rattled against the tall windows of the Casanova mansion like impatient fingers, quick and insistent. Alexa stirred in the dark, sensing movement long before she heard it. The digital clock on the nightstand glowed 2:14 a.m. Beside her, the other half of the bed was cold. Gabrielle had gone to his study hours ago. Then footsteps. Soft. Measured. Not his.She slipped from the sheets, pulling on a robe. The hall lights had been dimmed, but the glow from the security lamps painted the walls in long silver streaks. Down the corridor, the faint beam of a flashlight cut across the carpet, then vanished. Her heart kicked. One of the new guards. She followed, bare feet silent against the floor. The man moved quickly, glancing over his shoulder as if expecting someone. When he reached the study door, he knelt, produced a small key card, and slid it through the reader. The lock clicked open.Alexa pressed herself against the wall, waiting for him to go inside. When he

Sigh. The mansion no longer felt like home. Two days had passed since Gabrielle’s appointment, and already the air inside the halls had changed. Guards she didn’t recognize patrolled the corridors, silent and expressionless behind mirrored glasses. Doors that once stood open were now locked. Even Ava moved more carefully, her cheerful chatter clipped short whenever one of the new men walked by.Alexa stood at the window of their bedroom, watching the black shadows of the guards idle beyond the gate. The rain had stopped, but the sky still hung heavy with clouds. It felt as though the weather hadn’t yet decided whether the storm was over. She could hear Gabrielle’s voice from the study below low, measured, all command. He spoke that way now even when he wasn’t angry. The softness she loved in him had been buried under the weight of the title. Each call ended with a variation of the same phrase: “Handle it quietly.”When he came upstairs at last, he looked as though he hadn’t sl
