81: Picking Up Pieces

Logan's pov

Freya hasn't spoken in three hours and I'm watching her stare at the wall with eyes that look through everything instead of at anything and my wolf is pacing circles in my mind because our mate is hurting and we can't fix it.

She's curled in the corner of the couch with her knees pulled to her chest and her arms wrapped tight around her legs like she's trying to hold herself together and every few minutes she takes these shallow breaths that tell me she's fighting tears she won't let fall.

Sebastian is in the kitchen making tea that nobody asked for and the sound of the kettle whistling makes Freya flinch and I see her shoulders pull up toward her ears before she forces them back down.

Zane sits on the floor near the couch close enough that Freya could reach him if she wanted but far enough that she doesn't feel crowded and he hasn't moved in twenty minutes except to breathe.
