Lunette's Pov

I sat on the stool with a towel wrapped around my body. I applied lotion on my body and it was time for make-up.

I decided to go with a dark feminine make up. I grew up with rules to follow. Constantly being cautious even when it wasn't necessary, but that changes now.

It's time to be reckless, daring and selfish. Being good caused me more harm. It's just a lot of trouble.

My phone rang. It was a text from Maya.

"Hey girl, I'm close to your apartment. Hurry up."

It was time for the masterpiece of the night. The new dress and shoes I bought, which I intended to wear on a date with Dorian.

My reason for going to the club was for one reason. Have fun. Lots of it.

I don't have anything planned out but anything to forget my predicament, will do.

I unwrapped the towel, and wore the cute shimmering red dress. It hugged my body perfectly.

I oiled the excess skin that was on display. After that, I wore silver heels and jewelry.

HONK!!!

Maya had arrived. I stared at my reflection in the mirror and I was impressed. Turning heads wasn't the only mission after all.

I stepped out and locked the door.

"Damn girl!" Maya's jaw dropped and I winked at her playfully.

"Close your mouth Maya and thanks. You look good too," I chuckled.

Maya wore a black leather dress. She was really gorgeous.

"It's a pity I've never met your mum. Her genes are wonderful." She hit the steering wheel, and I nodded.

My smile slowly faded at the mention of my mother. What they did was still fresh in my memory.

Choosing to go to the club wasn't a bad idea after all.

"Let's go. We don't want to be late" I urged and she nodded and started driving.

"I'm surprised you agreed to come with me to the club today. Weren't you supposed to be all lovey dovey with your perfect boyfriend?" She smirked.

Unintentionally, her words sounded like mockery to me.

Perfect?

Lovey dovey?

I squeezed my hands tightly and out of the window.

"Hey, did I say something?" Maya asked quietly.

I shook my head and breathed out, "I broke up with him."

Suddenly, she stepped on the brake and we jolted forward. Thank God for the seatbelts.

"Huh? I'm not sure I heard that correctly."

I rolled my eyes and bit my inner cheek.

Silence filled the car.

"Wait. What? Is it true?" She gasped. "You just returned from visiting your parents and the last time I checked, you guys were still good. So what went wrong?"

I rested my head on my hand and closed my eyes. "I caught him cheating."

A louder gasp tore from her lips. "What the hell? How dare that bastard cheat on you after everything?"

Silence.

"I can never understand men," she scoffed.

I felt her eyes boring holes into the side of my face but I didn't bother to look at her.

"Bestie, I'm sorry that you had to go through all that alone. Let's go to the club and this time don't take it easy on any man."

With that she resumed driving.

Slowly, I opened my eyes.

Don't take it easy on any man?

I never planned to!

After thirty minutes, we arrived at LUXE Exclusive Club.

The place screamed luxury, class and lust.

"I forgot to ask but how were you able to get the tickets?" I asked Maya.

"I have my ways," she grinned and I nodded with a sly smirk.

Soon, Maya and I were inside. The music blared, threatening to destroy my eardrums but I was used to it.

"Let's enjoy ourselves." Maya announced but her gaze was focused on somewhere else. I followed her gaze.

She and a tattooed-up man were flirting with their eyes.

"See you later and take care of yourself," she pecked my cheek and walked away.

Right. Now, I'm all alone.

As I walked by, everyone stopped what they were doing and turned to stare at me. I took my time to sway my hips effortlessly.

"Hello," I cooed.

The bartender raised his head and looked at me. I broke the stare after a minute, pretending not to notice how his breath hitched.

He didn't say anything but gawked.

"I'd like to have a bloody Mary," I ordered and snapped my fingers in front of his face.

He opened his mouth to talk but couldn't get the words, so he just nodded.

With a shaky hand, he grabbed a glass but it slipped from his hand.

I looked away from him. Too bad, not a single man had caught my eyes since I came in.

"You..your drink," I looked at the bartender's tag.

"Thank you Ian," I said in a low voice and downed the drink at a go.

I slammed the glass down in front of him. "Another one."

He continued to serve the drinks. In no time, everywhere was spinning. I've always been a light drinker. Despite the music, I was getting bored, so I walked to the dance floor.

I sipped from my sixth glass and danced. I traced my hand down my body slowly. The others cheered.

"Hello, beautiful" an old man stood by my side but with one finger I pushed him away. I was desperate to forget my problems but never again will I settle for less.

I could feel someone's gaze on me as I danced but I couldn't tell who it was. I searched the crowd but nothing.

My throat became dry and I gulped down the drink at a go. Irritated that the mysterious man was having an effect on me against my will.

I sighed and scrunched my nose, still searching until I looked up.

My tensed muscles relaxed and my lips tugged into a sly smirk.

A hot looking man was staring at me. Definitely

older. Goosebumps crept onto my skin. His aura was intimidating but that excited me.

The alcohol had definitely kicked in but I wanted him!

I commanded with a cold voice. What was the worst that could happen?"She wasn't poisoned," Zade said.My heart skipped a beat, but I maintained an emotionless face. I knew exactly whom he was referring to.But what I didn't understand was his saying she wasn't poisoned. So what could have happened to her? Her body was covered with huge rashes, her face became swollen, and her pulse was extremely slow. When I saw her like that, she was so close to dying. And now, she wasn't poisoned? As if he heard my questions, Zade urged me to move away from the rest, and I did. "I'm listening," I said as my arms shifted back to human form.I took out the white handkerchief from my pocket and started wiping off the blood that had begun to dry."According to the doctor, what she had was an allergic reaction. A severe one that could have killed her, though." Zade added.I blinked slowly as

My fists clenched and unclenched as I tried to keep calm.I fixed my gaze on them as the guards dragged them towards me. Calmly, I sat on my golden throne and watched their every move."Walk faster!"Soon they fell before my feet. Weeping and pleading, but it did nothing to move me. It seemed that they had forgotten how TO deal with betrayers. And I had plenty of time to remind them just how deeply my hatred could run."Please... Please, Your Majesty..." One of them cried, continuously hitting her forehead on the marble floor. My gaze shifted to the silver dagger that I kept on the side table beside my chair. Slowly, I picked it up."Who served my wife?" I asked in a low voice.Instead of answers, all I got was heavy breathing and sniffling. The veins in my hands popped."His Majesty asked a question," Zade said."I..." One of them started, but I didn't allow her to continue before signalling for her to

Lunette's POV"Enjoy your meal, My Lady," the maids bowed, and I flashed them a small smile. I watched silently as they closed the door behind them. The fake smile slowly disappeared from my face. There was nobody to impress or pretend for. Now I was battling with my thoughts.I sighed and looked down at the plate of food in my hands. My heart pounded against my chest.Fear flashed through my eyes, but I wasn't backing down. Since my life has become a joke, a pawn in someone's game, I might as well take some risks too.I took a slice from the plate. The more I brought it closer to my mouth, the more a heavy weight rested in the pit of my stomach."What the hell are you doing?" Makari suddenly yelled in my head, startling me.I rolled my eyes. Why did she have to interfere? I was so close to finishing it. It took me a lot of courage, and now she just ruined it all."Has it come to this now, Lunette?" She hissed.I gritted my teeth and blinked. "Don't you dare play the innocent card, Ma

A renewed rage surged through me, filling me with strength I never knew I had.I scurried off his arms and shoved him so hard that his back slammed against the wall.I stood there drenched, in nothing but my underwear, but I didn't care. Why would I when someone was hell-bent on destroying me?He took one step forward, but I stretched out my hand and signalled for him to stop. As if he were considerate, he didn't bother to take another step."Makari!" He sneered while his jaw clenched."Don't you dare call me that!" I hissed. "You have absolutely no right to call me that name. Only the man I love can call me that. Not a monster!" I eyed him.Something dark and creepy settled in his eyes, shaking my resolve and making me silently question whether I wanted to conti

Lunette's POVSeveral gazes bored into my face. I tightened my grip on the cutlery. I didn't bother sparing them a glance. The atmosphere was chilly and tense, but I was used to it. The only word that came close to describing my life here was hell."Zade, how about what I asked you to look into?" Kaleth suddenly asked. He never cared about others.Wrong.He did care. For his people. But with me, he transformed into something unrecognisable, but the thing I've learnt to know him as. I doubt he ever considered me a living being. To him, I was more like an object.A trophy he displayed. The confirmation of a successful hunt."Hmm," Zade cleared his throat and added. "Yes, Your Majesty," Zade replied. I didn't bother listening to their conversation because I would rather be anywhere but here.Zade.I recently discovered that he was the Pack's Beta and Kaleth's closest friend. He was the second in command, and he had immense power.I shook my head internally as I remembered my past gullibil

How did I get here? The dream I just had... wait, it was too vivid. My jaw dropped as it dawned on me that it might have really happened. Kaleth, he...I covered my mouth with my hands, and I cried, shaking my head frantically. It was impossible.I knelt, pleaded, cried, urged that he should spare Holland's life.Holland was the name of my saviour. One that I knew about a bit too late - when he was on the verge of losing his life.I knew Kaleth was ruthless, but he shouldn't be able to kill casually, right? Maybe I was overthinking. I passed out; it was possible that Kaleth didn't kill him.I shouldn't think the worst of him, yet. It could be that he was hostile towards me because of our family feud. Because if not, how could I live with the guilt that an innocent person lost his life becaus
