Ethan’s POV

The door clicked shut behind me, leaving the sound of it ringing in my ears. As though I closed it normally—It felt louder than anything I had ever heard. I just didn’t stop walking.

My lashes felt heavy. Eye bags teary. But I didn’t look back.

Didn’t think.

Halting my chain of thoughts and turning off the emotions completely. Because I knew—if I did, even for a second… I’d lose whatever control I had left.

"Hold on to it–", I mumble to myself.

As a lone tear escapes the corner of m

  • Contracted to the man who broke me    Chapter 111: Brewing Feelings

Adrian's POVThe campaign presentation lasted forty minutes longer than it needed to.Marcus had slides.Seventeen of them, each with a subheading and a projected engagement metric I was certain he had rounded up. I sat at the head of the table and said the things required of me and somewhere around slide eleven I stopped retaining any of it.The advertising lead was talking about target demographics.I was thinking about an empty coffee cup.Not the cup itself. The gesture. The way Ethan had reached for it knowing it was empty, just to have somewhere to put the motion that had nowhere else to go.I knew that gesture. I had seen it in people who were managing something they couldn't put down.I hadn't expected to recognize it in him."Sir."Marcus was watching me from the other end of the table with the expression of a man who had just repeated himself."The budget reallocation. For the digital push in Q3.""Approve it," I said."You haven't seen the revised numbers.""Send them to me

  • Contracted to the man who broke me    Chapter 110: Grabbed his ass

Adrian's POVI reached for him without warning. My hand gripping his ass firmly from the right, keeping him exactly where I wanted him. Pulling him flush against me. He went still instantly. Breath slow and controlled like he was trying very hard to maintain it. Heart anything but. His eyes blew wide and his lips fell open just a fraction before the sound slipped out."Ahm...", he moans lowly. Turning me on.It irked me to know the one who has my eyes captivated on him was looking to other men or women. He was distracted with other people's thoughts when all who has the right to keep him busy with wondering should be me.I leaned closer to his face. Lowering my head a little to match his height."Don't moan out again...", I whisper against his lips."People here are already gossiping about our relation enough", I say taking a deliberate pause. "I don't think you want them to whisper how we make out in office...", I added. As I grope his ass harder and give a press."......"He didn't

  • Contracted to the man who broke me    Chapter 109: Distracted at Work

Ethan's POVReturning to the office turned out to be far more difficult than I had imagined.Everyone had welcomed me warmly in the morning. Some had smiled. Some had asked how I was doing. Nobody had been cruel. Nobody had whispered behind my back.Yet that did not stop the fear. The fear had already settled deep inside me.Every time someone walked past my desk, I found myself wondering what they were thinking. Every time I heard laughter from another department, a part of me automatically assumed it was about me. Every glance felt suspicious. Every conversation felt loaded with meaning. As a result, my work barely moved forward.I opened the same file countless times without actually reading it. Emails remained unanswered. Reports sat unfinished on my screen.Even something as simple as getting a glass of water felt impossible. When my bottle became empty, I simply left it there.I skipped lunch entirely. The cafeteria suddenly felt too crowded. Too exposed. The thought of sitting

  • Contracted to the man who broke me    Chapter 108: Resume Work

Ethan's POVEthan refused to step beyond the threshold of our bedroom for two full days.In the mornings he would simply sit on the edge of the bed, fingers twisted in the hem of his T‑shirt, eyes unfocused, as if the floor was made of glass and one wrong step would send him plunging. Work was out of the question. Even going down the stairs had to be negotiated. With great difficulty, and only if either I or Mrs. Rosamund was right beside him, he started to attempt the descent. One hand clutched the banister, the other hovering just a breath away from my sleeve, never quite touching but never too far. Every creak of the steps had him tensing, jaw clenched, as though the memory of that one horrible day was waiting at the bottom like a shadow.Davel came to see him that afternoon. The moment Davel walked into the sitting room, Ethan’s shoulders dropped a fraction. Davel had that effect on people—loud without being overbearing, hilarious without being cruel. He carried a deck of UNO card

  • Contracted to the man who broke me    Chapter 107: Frequent panic attack

Ethan's POVThe garden sat still below the balcony. I wasn't looking at it, not really. My eyes had fixed on some middle distance beyond the glass and the green, and my mind had gone somewhere else entirely. Somewhere older. The cell. The cold. The sound of footsteps that meant something was coming.I don't know how long I sat like that before the bushes moved. It was nothing. A bird, wind, something small and meaningless. But my body didn't know that. My body was already somewhere else, already back in that room where nothing was safe and nothing was mine, and before I could think I was up from the chair, legs moving without instruction, and the shadow fell across the balcony wall, wide and growing, and I made a sound I didn't recognise as mine."Aaaaaahhhhhaaawwaaaaa", a loud throat scratching sound."What happened? Are you okay?"I couldn't face it. I pressed myself to the wall, back flat against the stone, and my hands found my own clothes and held on. The shadow, the voice, the o

  • Contracted to the man who broke me    Chapter 106: Shadow that disturbs

Ethan's POVThe low amber light of early morning came through the curtains in thin, quiet lines. My eyes flickered open to the known warmth. A soft breath fanning my forehead, slow and steady.I smiled before I even understood why.The recognition came gradually. I was curled against Adrian's side, my cheek resting against his chest, his arm across my back like it had simply stayed there through the night without being asked to.I didn't move.I just lay there, listening to him breathe. Let the room come into focus around me, piece by piece.Blackwood Mansion. My safe place. His arms.Light and warm morning. That's what a normal life should feel like.I closed my eyes again and just breathed. This life is just a dream. A dream I still crave for, every day.A smile was finding its way to my lips when the shadow of yesterday hit me.It jolted something deep. What if it wasn't my imagination? What if it was real?He is really back.My heart skipped.Even the thought sent a coldness throu

Third Person POV“There should be no mistake… and make sure no one sees you.”The voice was low, controlled yet edged with firmness like a warning. The back gate lobby of the club was a stark contrast to the chaos inside. The music was reduced to a distant, dull thump like a heartbeat muffled behin

Ethan’s POVI didn’t realize when my thoughts drifted too far. Too deep, too him. When a sudden warmth over my hand pulled me back.I blinked, looking down.Davel.His hand rested lightly over mine, not tight, not forceful just enough to ground me.“You zoned out,” he said softly. I let out a breat

  • Contracted to the man who broke me    Chapter 14: The Night I Almost Forgot The Game

Adrian’s POVI had few drinks, and on top of that a cigar, had made my head light weight. My mind was focused on Ethan as I see him on my screen, my eyes glued as he works relentlessly, having no water or food but a cup of coffee. He hates black coffee but still haves it when working dedicately whi
