Maya knew going to the emergency room for a sprained ankle was probably overkill, but her roommate had insisted. It was swollen, it hurt like hell, and she couldn't walk on it without wanting to cry. So here she was at St. Catherine's Hospital at eleven PM on a Friday night, surrounded by people with much emergencies while she sat there feeling ridiculous about her stupid ankle.

The triage nurse had taken one look at her, asked if she could breathe and if her chest hurt, and when Maya said no to both, told her to take a seat. That had been two hours ago.
