Chapter Sixty-eight

Bridgette clicked on a file, which was a voice recording of Bernard's conversation with a client he was working with. She schooled her features and took a deep breath to steady herself. She put her mind into a state of emptiness and clicked on the recording. 

"Ivan, it has been a while." Bernard's voice played over the speakers. 

"Yes, my friend, it has." A deep male voice with a thick Russian accent responded. 

"I hope the product acquired is to your tastes." Bernard said. 

"Indeed, it is. However, obedience seems to be a bit of a problem." Ivan said. 

"How so?" Bernard asked. 

"The child... she does not accept her lessons. She fights back constantly." He said, sounding like a concerned parent. 

"Abigail assured me that she was ready. " Bernard growled.
