First kiss

He kissed me right on my cupid-shaped lips, and I don’t even know why I said that.

Tanga mo, Aifia!

I pulled my lips away from him and slapped him hard.

He held his right cheek and glared at me.

"Gago ka ba ha?!"

I glared back at him and he just kept staring at me.

The pervert guy named Kyzue gritted his teeth at what he saw, and tried to grab my arm to pull me closer to him.

He didn’t succeed because I slapped his hand away and punched him in the face.

"You all perverts! Stay away from me, fuckers!" I shouted at them and they were all stunned by me.

I was too stunned to speak.

I processed what happened, the freaking thing I did earlier. I didn’t expect it. Never!

I was seriously thinking about what happened just now.

Kyzue was holding his ugly face that I punched earlier, and he stood up.

He made a fist and tried to fight the kapre guy.

And they started fighting. Handsome man versus pervert guy.

When Kyzue punched the kapre guy in one eye, he smirked because he succeeded.

And when he was about to do it again, the kapre guy punched him back and he fell to the ground.

He blacked out.

I felt a little sorry for him. I already punched him, and then the guy punched him too.

Meanwhile, the kapre guy was holding his eye where he got hit.

"Fuck! That damn hurts," he said and cursed.

Yup, that's me. Aifei Yuna.

I punched the pervert guy and slapped the kapre guy, trying to process what the freaking chocolate fudge was happening right now.

And the pervert’s dogs carried him and ran away like death was chasing them.

I sighed in relief because the guy who actually wanted to fuck me was now far away.

Meanwhile, I stood frozen there because I was alone with him.

He looked at me, and my feet felt stuck to the ground when I remembered what he did to me.

"Don't move! Or I will slap you harder, kapre!" I shouted and he got annoyed.

"Why do you keep calling me kapre, huh?"

"Bakit? May problema ka bang manyak ka!"

I rolled my eyes at him, and decided to pick up my shoes and look for the way out of here.

I glanced at him and felt guilty.

Because Kyzue punched him earlier, I couldn’t help but ask him.

"Okay ka lang ba? Masakit ba? Masakit?" I asked him out of concern.

"Thank you nga pala ha at natulungan mo akong makawala sa manyak na yun."

I thanked him sincerely because he didn’t let that guy touch my private parts.

Even though the kapre kissed me.

"And I'm sorry if I punched you. Hindi mo naman kailangang halikan ako."

"You're welcome," he said and knelt in front of me to put on the shoes that fell on the road earlier.

He signaled me to follow him.

I hesitated. What if he did something to me? I was already traumatized by that other guy.

"Wag kang matakot. Hindi kita sasaktan... at hindi kita babastusin," he said and I finally caught my breath again.

I just followed him to wherever we were going.

I looked at him worriedly, because his right hand was still on the eye that got punched earlier.

I felt sorry for him. I was the one who punched him too.

And we arrived at where he was taking me.

A black Rolls-Royce.

It must be expensive, right? Just by looking at it, you could tell it was pricey.

He opened the left door of the car and let me in.

After he got me in, he went to the right side and got in too.

He started the engine and I finally breathed out in relief.

I grabbed my phone from my pocket and called my mom so she wouldn’t worry about where I was.

"Mom?"

"Ohh anak, jusko! Saan ka na? Malapit nang mag alas nuwebe! Ba't hindi ka pa umuuwi, Aif!"

She was worried because it was already night and she didn’t know where I was.

"Wag kang mag-alala, Mommy. Uuwi na ako mamaya," I lied to her.

I couldn’t help it because she might worry if she knew I was with a guy I didn’t even know.

"Sige, sige, Aif. Mag-iingat ka ha at umuwi ng bahay at hindi na pupunta kung saan-saan!" she said and hung up.

I checked the time on my phone and it was already 8:50 pm.

It was almost 9 pm.

I'm so sleepy right now because I'm exhausted from running.

I closed my eyes for a bit when he said that we’re going to a nearby store to buy some food to eat, because both of us hadn’t eaten dinner yet.

We’re in the store now.

He opened the door and signaled me to go inside first. What a gentleman.

I sat at the table, and waited like a child waiting for her mom to cook the food.

He bought two sodas, two bottled waters, two sandwiches, and buldak noodles.

He opened it and gave it to me.

We enjoyed eating.

He’s so quiet and I can’t stop asking him questions and chika with him.

"What's your name, dude?"

"Ziel. Ziexiel Buandivez,"

Same last name as my fiancé. Weird.

"How old are you?"

"31 years old."

Ay, taray! Napaka layo ng age gap namin.

"How about you?"

I stopped stuffing my mouth with the buldak I was eating and started talking.

"I'm Aifia Yuna Cruz. 24 years old."

I drank my soda and stuffed my mouth with my sandwich.

I glanced at him and couldn’t help but stare at his face with the little bruise near his eye.

"Let's buy some band-aids and clean that bruise, Xiel,"

"Di na kailangan,"

"No, Xiel! Magkaka-scar ka niyan. Sungit na nga ng mukha mo, i-add mo pa yang bruise mo."

He gave me a sharp look and I just shook my head.

I insisted and he had no choice but to give in.

"Stay here. Don't move!"

I got what I needed and went back to where Xiel was.

I prepared it and started cleaning the wound he got from fighting that pervert guy and from my punch.

I gently wiped it with alcohol on a cotton ball.

When I was done cleaning, I put on a Hello Kitty band-aid that was violet.

Violet is my favorite color so that’s what I chose.

When I finished, I looked at him and almost laughed at his expression.

He was glaring at me like I stole his lollipop.

"Keribells na yan!"

"Ba't ba ito yung pinili mong band-aid? May brown naman dyan,"

"Yaan mo na nga yan. Bagay naman sa'yo. Para kang femboy."

I laughed and laughed, and lost my balance and was about to fall to the floor.

He caught me.

Our noses touched because we were standing so close to each other.

He stared at me so deep, and I stared back at him, and I lost myself in his charcoal grey eyes.

So magnificent.

He came closer and was about to kiss me.

"Ano ba yan, Miss! Bagay kayo ni Sir!" the cashier shouted and she was even kilig.

Sana all, baliw!

And for the record, Ma'am Cashier, I have a fiancée.

‘Ikaw na lang pumalit sa postura ko, p*****a!’ I whispered and I was still staring at him.

Because of our position, I remembered the kiss we had and my cheeks turned red.

I punched him hard again.

"The more you sapak, the more you love, Miss!" the cashier shouted.

Puta.

The cake was half-eaten. Aileena was asleep on the wooden table, drooling, still holding her bottle like a trophy. And I was cleaning cups, rubbing it so hard because of the stain that wouldn't come off. "Easy there, tigress!" Eliza yelled at me and I smiled. I glanced at her — she was trying to put Andrea's party hat straight, Fathime was on Derek's lap smearing chocolate on his puff see-through jacket. And I was beside Zexchiel now, wiping chocolate off my white blazer. I was so focused on cleaning my blazer that I didn't notice the lights outside went bright. I looked at it and thought the fairy lights would come off, but it was just a car light. A black car parked right in front of our glass door. Not our usual customers' tricycle, not a delivery bike. A black Alphard, shiny. Eliza froze. "Who's that..." Derek froze harder. And I saw how anxious he looks even with the thick makeup he has on his face. The car door opened. And we watched at the glass door. It was Mr. Kade Fl

Silence. The music was loud so I decided to take the call outside. I held my breath and sighed. "Pa, I can explain—" He sighed, then laughed. "Your mom would be proud. She did the same before, like always! Helping me judge all the designs, the technical problems and about businesses by day, feeding stray kids by night. And I know you got her gene." I laughed and I felt tears again. "So... you're not mad?" "Mad? Hija, you won a custody case without using my money. You used your intelligence and your younger sister's hard work. That's more professional and hard working than stamping designs." My heart aches, not from pain, but the joy I felt hearing those words. "Come home later and bring your younger sister and bring the twins also, your mom misses them." I agreed. "Oh, and bring Derek. I want to meet my other... co-guardian's family." Call ended. I stood outside the cafe, fairy lights behind me, Eliza still screaming bleeding love with broom mic, and twins free ins

For the first time since we opened, we decided to close the cafe not because there were no customers or we were preparing for new flavors or events, but because there were too many emotions that needed to be celebrated. The case! Tables were pushed together with the guys. The fairy lights were on one by one, glittering different colors in my eyes. Eliza's speaker playing random party music was too loud while she took a broom to make it her microphone. "Keep bleeding I keep, keep bleeding love!" she screamed. And Aileena joined her and I face-palmed. I laughed too hard when I saw them covering their ears because of Eliza, and I agreed to it, because she has the voice of a donkey. Andrea and Fathime's little shoes on top of the counter, both asleep now in the staff room, curled on my extra apron like cats. As I gazed at them earlier, they were peaceful, because they were now free. Finally free from the grasp of their mother. I looked at them in the window and my heart melted.

Weeks later, we didn't know that time was ticking so fast.As we entered the courtroom, it smelled like old wood and the aircon was too cold.I was sitting on the wooden cold bench, Fathime asleep on my lap, while Andrea was gripping my right arm like it was her lifeline. My outfit today was my usual office blazer, white, with my cafe apron still folded in my bag. Because after my boss mode, I will escape reality and do my hobby. My CEO and tita mode at the same time.Derek was beside me, hands shaking so hard he kept wiping them on his puff see-through jacket paired with a sleeveless top and a denim skirt. And I knew he didn't sleep. His eyes were still swollen red. Because he prepared for this moment.Eliza was pacing at the back, holding coffee she wasn't drinking. "Where is she? Where is your sister?" she asked while shaking her legs with a blank face."She said she will go at 9AM sharp," I whispered. My phone buzzed.Papa kong pogiWhere are you? Meeting moved to 1PM. The whole cafe went quiet. Customers staring. Phones starting to record. I glanced at the staff who was watching the drama and I widened my eyes to signal them. They instantly nodded and pushed the customers away, closing the glass door, flipping the sign to CLOSED. My face burned hot, and my fingers turned into fists. I knew that using my knuckles to punch her right now would be useless. If I act now, she will use it as evidence. She wants me to hit her. I looked at Andrea, who was now crying silently behind Derek's leg, and Fathime, who buried her face in Derek's sweaty neck, sobbing hard. I was suddenly shot with agony. They were just kids. Five years old? Six? They shouldn't hear this. They shouldn't hear their Kuya being called mentally unstable, unemployed, a bad influence. Without a second thought, I snatched Fathime from Derek's arms and held Andrea's arm. Fathime was so light, so small, her tears were wetting my pink dress. Andrea clutched my hand like I was her l

"So this is where you're hiding them, Derek?" Her voice was soft, pretty, but sharp like scissors. Just like her demeanor. I thought she was a model earlier, but I didn't know she really is a lawyer. A dangerous one. I glanced at Derek and he was frozen where he stands. His arms tightened around Fathime. Andrea hid further behind his leg, gripping his pants so tight her knuckles turned white. I suddenly felt the urge and the tension between them so thick you could cut it with a knife, and I stepped forward. "Excuse me, who are you?" I said, looking at her, balancing my emotions around her level. I tried to sound like CEO Aifia, not cafe Aifia. She flipped her black folder open. And I saw that logo. And now I know where I saw it. It was a Clorexed seal. Gold dove. The same logo as Derek's crumpled, sweaty paper earlier this morning. She smiled, but her eyes didn't. I felt her coldness cling to my body slowly, like the winter wind inside our warm cafe. "Atty. Cassandra L. Vill
