Isabelle's POV…

The city lights blurred past the tinted windows as I drove home after a very hectic day.

I hadn't realized how tightly I was gripping the steering wheel until my fingers began to ache.

Although the event took place in the same city I stay in, the distance between my house and the event venue was far.

I was eager to arrive home, take a shower, and sleep so I could forget about everything that happened today.

  • Dear Ex-wife, Please Come Back    Behind the Flames

Isabelle's POV… The city lights blurred past the tinted windows as I drove home after a very hectic day. I hadn't realized how tightly I was gripping the steering wheel until my fingers began to ache. Although the event took place in the same city I stay in, the distance between my house and the event venue was far. I was eager to arrive home, take a shower, and sleep so I could forget about everything that happened today. As I drove, the images from the gala refused to leave my mind like a nightmare. I could clearly still see Lyvanne's smile, her award, the applause, and the hurried exit in my mind. They weren't ready to leave my memory anytime soon. Of course, from the look of things, I could tell that something had happened. And my instinct told me that it was something terrible. In fact, I knew that something bad had happened.

Rovan's POV…The smell of smoke reached us long before the store came into view.Burnt plastic, charred wood, and chemicals lingered heavily at night air, choking every breath. The moment our convoy turned the corner, flames reflected against the windshield like a wall of living fire.My jaw tightened.“Drive faster.”Even though the driver was running as fast as he could, it was as if he were delaying. Tension couldn't allow me to think straight. The SUV barely came to a complete stop before Lyvanne opened the door as though her grip had been on the door handle long ago.“Lyvanne, wait…”It was already too late before the words escaped my lips. Before I could think twice, she was already running towards the crowd that stood watching the scene.“Ma'am!”Several employees rushed toward her, their faces stained with soot and tears. One could easily tell how bittered t

Lyvanne's POV…My grip on the phone tightened as tears gathered in my eyes.Even after hearing her words, it was as if I didn't comprehend what she was saying.“What did you say?” I mouthed, staring at no direction in particular.“The Cancelo Avenue branch,” she explained, her voice still cracking. “It's burning!"For a second, I couldn't breathe or even move an inch from where I stood. “No…”My entire body started shivering. I was confused beyond explanation. How could this happen? Was it an accident or another attack from my enemies? And if it's from my enemies, then who?“The fire started only a few minutes ago,” Emma continued. “The alarm went off, and everyone rushed outside.”“Is everyone out?” I asked sharply because that was the most important thing.Even though it won't be easy to recover the material things lost, considering the fact that it costs

Lyvanne's POV…The award felt heavier than I expected. Not because of its weight. But because of everything it represented.Years ago, people called me a criminal.Tonight…Those same people stood and applauded.Life truly had a strange sense of humor, I must say.I smiled politely as congratulations came from every direction.Business partners, friends, investors, politicians, and everyone else.Everyone, except the one person I refused to look for.The only person I have been trying everything I could to not set eyes on.It was no other person but Alexander.I knew he was here. I had known the moment I entered the ballroom. You don't need to see someone to feel their presence.Occasionally you simply know.Still, I refused to search for him. Not because I hated him.Because I didn't want Rovan to misunderstand. Again.T

  • Dear Ex-wife, Please Come Back    The Grand Charity Gala IV

Rovan's POV…Alexander Saint.Even from across the ballroom, I could feel his eyes. Not on the stage, but on the awards. Not on the investors, but on Lyvanne.Again and again and again. He thought he was discreet, but he wasn't. A man in love never is.Everyone who was present at the event was none of my concern, except for Alex. I knew so well that if he had the chance to approach her, he would. The question was, will I give him the chance to do that?Certainly not. Unless I change my mind, else, as long as I'm here, he won't dare to do it even in his wildest dream.Suddenly, I leaned closer to Lyvanne to converse.“They're announcing your category next.” I stated, and she smiled.“I wasn't expecting to win.” She responded with hesitation.“I was.” I maintained my wide smile as I inserted. She didn't bother arguing but nodded and smiled back a

Isabelle's POV… Smile. Just keep smiling. No one could ever suspect a smiling woman. At least that's what I kept telling myself, and it has always worked for me. Well, it said what you believe works for you. I guess whoever invented that statement was right. Looking at the enormous hall, the ballroom glittered with wealth and power, yet none of it interested me. Why should it? That wasn't why I was here. So it was none of my business. My eyes searched only for one person. Lucas. Where was he? He said he'd be here, but I haven't seen any sign of him. This better not be a prank or else… I don't even know if I can do anything to him, though. I just hoped it wasn't another way to put me in a problem I never wished for. Because I was ready to live a free life. A life filled with happiness, where I wouldn

  • Dear Ex-wife, Please Come Back    THE DIVORCE

I got home, still crying. The tears were refusing to stop pouring, my heart would not stop bleeding. I felt pain. Too much pain and none was physical. Even the cabman who had driven me home had been worried about how hard I was sobbing. He’d asked questions but I didn’t answer any. Now I was ho

  • Dear Ex-wife, Please Come Back    THE HEARTBREAK

I studied my reflection in the mirror, taking note of the sage green dress I’d saved up money to buy. It was my anniversary and I wanted to surprise my husband at the office. The dress was fabulous and I knew my husband, Alexander would love it. He usually liked dresses that clung to me and showed

Lyvanne’s POVThe silence in the room was deafening, my gaze never leaving him. The atmosphere was so quiet, like a graveyard.I watched Alexander standing frozen by the door, my question still hanging heavily in the air. I was desperate to hear what he had to say.“Why did you help me?” I asked on

  • Dear Ex-wife, Please Come Back    You have a call

Lyvanne's POVThe studio buzzed with pressure, fabric rustled, machines hummed, staff moving quickly as if the very floor beneath them would catch fire if they slowed down.I stood in the center of the busy office, a storm in heels, snapping out instructions like a general in battle. It has always
