The whole incident made Alice feel rather guilty.
She felt guilty that she had destroyed such a wonderful to end to both of their days by asking a personal question. She felt guilty that she had upset Emilia by being overly curious. She felt guilty about taking advantage of Emilia's 'secret for a story' scheme.
When she hopped onto the bus for school on a breezy Monday
The rest of the members surrounded Alice, protectively. Each one of them had an expression of pain and remorse on their face."I tried," Juliet mumbled miserably, "I tried making the club sound boring and dull so that Alice wouldn't join.""I should've broken Emilia's rules and told you the truth," Gwen said sadly, "I'm so sorry, Alice. I was frightened about what would happen to me if I did..."
Life in England had never taken such a dark turn. She no longer woke up each morning with a spring in her step and smile on her face. She woke up, practically dragging her feet behind her dreading the day ahead. Alice preferred Tuesdays and Thursdays- the days that she did not have the gardening club on. On those days, she would spend all of her time with the other members, exchanging jokes and compliments to ease away one another's pain. Alice had no idea what she would've done if they weren't there for her.
A/N: Because it is almost Christmas, I present you a happy chapter where nothing goes wrong. You're welcome :) (It's also a little shorter than my usual chapters and I apologize. Half-term passed by in a blur. Before Alice knew it, she was due to go back to West Bridge to complete the term.On Monday morning, her body didn't seem to want to wake up at all. In the morning, Alice woke up, still feeling tired and grumpy. She knew that she would need to train her body into becoming more responsive in the morning. It was normal for Libby to get emotional over little things as she was quite sensitive. But Alice had never seen her as distraught as yesterday.
Alice's face registered shock and dismay once she realized that Libby had runoff. She was an inch away from learning about what was bothering her, an inch away from finding out how to fix everything. She turned to look at Lauren, giving her a frustrated look."Lauren!" She huffed, "I was about to figure out what was bothering Libby!"Lauren didn't look concerned at all. She blinked lazily up at Alice, unfazed by her expression.
Trigger Warning: Mentions of Suicide. Please read at your own riskAlice predicted that the other girls' predictions would be rather wild. She wasn't wrong. After she and Libby had finished explaining what had just happened on the Gym's Balcony, everybody looked shell-shocked.
When Alice arrived home, her head was in such a whirl. It was almost heaving from the amount of information it had received in one day. Not just from the ordinary lessons. But also from Juliet's shocking story about Courtney. Her head was in such a spin that she ended up tripping over a table leg and ripping her school skirt. Cursing, she crawled to her knees and examined the damage. Her eyes rubbernecked over the skirt and decided that the tear was too much to mend. The skirt had a large gash, slashed through the centre. There was no way that she could go about her day with that unnoticed.
