Descendant

The war ended and we won just as I had predicted. And that is how I got my place in the pack house as the special adviser to the Alpha

That morning, I lay on my foam in the pack house tired of the day's activities and preparing for the court meetings that awaited me the following day.

But when I attempted to rest my head on the bed, I had a strange vision.

"The pack is in grave danger and they are conspiring to kill the Alpha." my guardian spirit informed me in the dream.

I thought about her words for some time. But they still didn't make sense to me. There was no threat against the kingdom anymore but the moon goddess insisted that I remain.

"But who are these men?" I said to my guardian.

"He is the beta of the pack." she informed him.

I woke up from my sleep shivering with fear as streams of sweat fell from the side of my head.

"But why will the renowned beta of the pack want the Alpha dead," I thought in my head biting the lower part of my lips in hate and disgust.

"And how do I even convince that brut of an Alpha that hiss beta is hatching a plot against him." I gasped.

I cracked my brain for a way to solve this great mystery but I was blank, answers weren't coming.

"Let me take a walk, maybe I might receive another message." I said to myself.

I got up slowly from the bed and began to walk outside the pack house but halfway through my walk, I heard strange voices coming from the adjoining wall.

"Tomorrow, no one will ever suspect that I stole the Alpha's ring." the beta voice which I could identify anytime whispered to the chief warrior who was standing right next to him.

"I lowered my ears to listen better to what they were saying. This might be the only chance I would get to prove that the beta was a snitch.

"And soon, I will have the ring right in the middle of my fingers, no one will be able to question my authority as the new Alpha." he said as a burst of dark laughter escaped from his mouth.

I could already feel my heart beating hard against my chest as though it was going to burst out.

"So how do we eliminate the Alpha for good?" The chief warrior inquired.

"Leave that, I already got it settled. Tomorrow, I will poison his usual drink at the meeting and there, he will lose his life before everyone present." he laughed.

I pulled away from the place and tiptoes silently back to my room. Nothing could happen to the king, not when his guardian was still alive.

I waited for the time to come when I was going to reveal the big truth.

I got to the proceeding that morning and the two werewolves suspected to have stolen the Alpha's staff of office ring were presented to the pack elders.

"I didn't steal the Alpha's ring, I swear on my father's grave," one of them sobbed but that only made the Alpha angry.

He came down angrily from the throne and walked gradually towards him with his face twisted in hate and disgust.

"You fool, how dare you to lie before this Noble assembly," he thundered angrily at him and threw a slap on his face.

"But I didn't do it," I swear, the old werewolf kept saying but no one believed him but I did.

And I was waiting patiently for the right time to spill the truth.

"And how do you expect us to believe you?" The beta half yelled at him from his official seat.

My face twisted with hate and irritation at such a question knowing full well that he was the sole culprit.

"Because there is no evidence to prove that," he returned.

This got the Alpha even angrier. "No evidence for it so? Then I will also convict you without trial," he announced before the great assembly.

"You are sentenced to death," he announced. There were loud murmurs in the hall making the Alpha stop and turn toward everyone.

"Anyone wants to challenge my authority and be like him," he announced in the hall and everyone became silent once again.

Then, I saw the maiden coming with the glass of poisoned wine and I saw this as my perfect opportunity to reveal the truth.

"Stop!" I yelled at her, making everyone in the hall turn toward me.

"And what is it again Andrea," the Alpha fired at him with disgust in his voice.

"That drink is poisoned," I announced before everyone was present.

I stared at the Beta and caught him staring at me with a mixed feelings of anger and fear. "What's she up to again," I could read the thoughts in his heart.

The Alpha turned over to the lady standing beside him already shivering with fear as the glass trembled in her hands.

"It's not true, don't believe a word she says," she returned immediately.

"Then why do you go ahead and take the first sip," he shot a deadly sneer at her.

He drew the drink from the glass and forced it into her mouth. Her skin turned pale immediately and she fell to the ground dead, making everyone in the hall gasp in surprise.

"How did you know about this Andrea," the Alpha inquired, returning to his throne.

I explained everything to them and revealed the real person who stole the ring. The king ordered a search and the ring was found in him.

The chief warrior was brought before the Alpha while he was boiling with rage.

"How dare you beta, how dare you," he thundered angrily at them.

He walked slowly over to them and stabbed the chief warrior right in his tummy spilling blood all over his face.

I could see the beta visibly shivering with fear and a stream of sweat forming at the corner of his eyes...

"My end has come," his lips trembled.

But then, the strangest thing happened, the mate of the king, Luna Elsa ran into the hall and knelt before the Alpha.

"Please don't kill my father please..." She pleaded with her mate before everyone was present.

I had been in the pack house for a few months now but I never knew that the Luna was the Beta's daughter.

 "What a surprise," I thought.

The Alpha stared into the eyes of the beta and back into the eyes of his Luna.

"Thank your stars, you will only be banished from the kingdom." he said to him and walked away.

"What!!" Everyone in the hall exclaimed.

"But this is an offense against the state," one of the elders noted.

"And the head of the state has made his decision," he replied.

 "The meeting was adjourned."

I squeezed my face with so much hate and disgust but there was nothing I could do about what the Alpha king had decided.

The next morning, I was to deliver some important news to the Alpha king but when I came into the room, he was with his Luna, kissing her passionately.

I stared at the duo. "Gulp," a large lump went down my spine.

The Alpha waved me away to leave immediately and I did. Outside the room, I could feel my heart beating hard against my chest.

I wish I was the one in that position, the Luna of the most handsome Alpha I had ever seen.

I noticed that I was beginning to have some feelings for the Alpha, which I tried hard not to believe was love.

"But am I truly in love with him?" I whispered to myself.

"No it can't be," I said but I knew for sure that I was lying. Deep down, I loved him.

"But even if I do, love wasn't part of the mission I was sent to do, I was forbidden to fall in love.

There was no place for love in my heart because my soul didn't belong to me.

And I had a mission to complete, a goddess to serve wholeheartedly. There was no place for love in my life.

That was what I always thought but the reality of it was beginning to fade away as the day went by.

I thought this awkward feeling of jealousy was going to die but unfortunately for me, it only grew larger than my heart could contain.

I wanted to always see his face and always be with him but there was already someone in that position.

"I am going to keep trying until he notices me." I affirmed.

That morning, I got dressed in my best robe to see the Alpha king.

When I got to his door, I tapped slightly.

I could already feel cold shivers running down my spine, I was frightened to my bones.

"Who is that?" His thick voice came from Inside.

"It's me, Andrea." I returned to him almost immediately.

"You may come in." he ordered.

I opened the door gently and walked into the room, closing the door right behind me.

"Do you have a message from the moon goddess," he said to me with disgust in his voice.

"No," I returned and tried to say something else but he would not give me breathing space to even complete my statement.

"So what are you doing here?" He inquired.

"Just when I wanted to tell him that... I came to say hi," I stuttered.

Then, the door parted open and Luna walked in.

I noticed that immediately I saw her face, my mood went sour immediately and my face disappeared under a hateful glare.

I returned my stare to the Alpha and I could see a warm smile hanging on his face.

"Wish that was for me." I sighed.

She came over to him and kissed him on his lips for some time. After which she pulled away from him and shot a deadly glare at me

"And what are you doing here?" She inquired but I didn't bother to give her a reply, making her turn over to her mate.

"Can't you see that I am really busy you fool," he thundered angrily at me.

 "Get out of this place."

"I am sorry Alpha," I apologized and started walking away from the place.

"I don't like the way she is always around you," I heard Luna complaining to Jax.

"That girl? she can't even pull a string when it comes to me. She is only good for state issues and nothing more. So you don't worry about her," he said to her while I continued to walk away from them.

I could feel tears already forming in the corner of my eyes as I ran over to the room.

I went to my room and shut the door close behind me with so much hate and anger.

"Why does he never notice me like I am just a grain of dust, like an invisible being?" I yelled at the top of my voice.

"He is using me, that's just it," I yelled angrily.

"But somehow, you like him," a voice rang in my room like the clap of thunder.

This was the hard truth, I was beginning to fall for the werewolf who had noted earlier that I was only useful in issues related to state matters only and he was never going to look my way.

Tears gradually dropped down from my eyes, raising the dust in my room.

Then, my guardian spirit appeared before me.

"Andrea," she said to me. "Why are you crying?" She inquired. But I could not tell her anything at first.

How would it sound, that the descendant of the moon goddess was falling in love with a mere mortal?

"You can talk to me," she noted with a smile hanging on her face.

I bit my lower lip as I spilled out every single inch of my predicament to her.

"You are not the first nor will you be the last to fall in love with someone that you can never be with and nobody before you had ever gotten their aims. Rather, they are distracted from completing their missions," she said to me, staring right into my eyes.

"You are forbidden Andrea to fall in love with a werewolf so focus on your mission and this feeling will pass just as it has developed," she said to me and vanished from the room.

But her words seem to create only a greater hole in my heart.

"I am just going to let this pass and hold back any feeling I have about him," I said to myself and dried up every single tear that had formed in my eyes.

"But what if I can't? What if this feeling is just too great to withhold." I sobbed.
