Chapter 4

Madison lay watching the fight and was overcome with fear, she was too weak to carry herself up to rest on a nearby tree trunk. While she watched, the biggest and most ferocious of the wolves which she recognized as alpha Caden's wolf, pinned down the furry one with tricks and cunning. It was strangling the wolf until it began to grunt sounds that she did not understand. It was a wolf language that she could not understand when she was still in her human form.

Slowly, the big wolf unpinned the small one and they stood watching each other. Finally, they both shifted into their forms again.

"Get on the horse."

Alpha Caden snapped, When he reached her. There was a total quiet now and he seemed sure that he was not under any risk.

Madison rose up and went to the horse. When she mounted it, it took a while for alpha Caden to join her..and when they started to ride, it began to rain heavily. Her wolf snapped awake within her.

"We may have to wait for the rain to thin out in the cave before we continue the journey."

He suggested

The cave was just a few feets ahead and so they stopped and he tied the horse under an enormous tree that kept most of the rain away

"Get inside the cave."

He ordered and she did. It was getting dark and the cave was dark and difficult to find a suitable place to sit in, if not for the occasional lightening that temporarily brightened the cave up.

When she sat, alpha Caden groped about in the cave and found a few dry twigs and two small smooth rocks Which he picked up and made a small fire. He sat across her and the fire crakled on between them.

"I am sorry for causing us so much trouble in one day."

She said when she was warm from the fire.

Alpha Caden did not reply. He continued to pick a few dry twigs in the cave to feed the fire.

"You have been nice to me today and I can not ignore that. I will not pretend that I have not seen how nice you

have been today, my lord."

He scoffed and continued to watch the fire.

"I am indebted to you, my lord and i shall do what you want to repay this favour. I would be incomplete if you had not intervened and made the witch restore my wolf."

He was silent for a while.

"Does this mean you will no longer run off from the red galaxy pack?"

She lowered her head.

"I shall stay until my uncle sends for me to be returned to my pack."

"Does this also mean that for as long as you are with me in the red galaxy pack, that you will court my affection and love me, even if the love is not reciprocated until I decide to take you for wife, which will be an act of benevolence on my part?"

She was staring incredulously at him as he spoke. He did not stop speaking.

" It will be a great honour to take you and make you my wife and luna of a pack as powerful and big as the red galaxy pack. I do not expect you to decline this, but to accept this opportunity with both arms."

She looked shocked as he finished speaking, but he was not looking at her.. he was staring into the fire.

" I'm sorry, my lord, I can not love you if the love is not reciprocated."

He looked up then at her.

" But you will love me if I had love to give you too? "

She lowered her head at his question.

" I do not owe you the duty of love. I am not the one who is fast becoming a spinster without a mate or even a suitor."

She was hurt by his mean words.

" I am not a spinster and I am not fast turning into one."

"But you will twenty five soon and you are yet to find a mate."

"I have had suitors but I do not want any of them and of course, it is none of my fault that I have no mate yet. My mate is somewhere in the world and we will meet each other soon."

She said it with an uncertainty that made him snort in derision.

"I do not care what you say. It will not be good for you if you return to your pack, not taken by the alpha of the red galaxy pack, especially if you remain a spinster after now."

He said. She blinked the tears that had started to form in her eyes away and turned her face away from him. She felt her wolf stir inside her. It felt good to have Lucy, her wolf stir.

She sniffed.

"What are you doing? Crying?"

Alpha Caden asked. She shook her head.

"It has stopped raining but we cannot travel any further. It is totally dark and we have no light to see the woods with. We shall continue tbe journey tomorrow."

Alpha Caden announced without any room without any room for her to say anything. She looked at the floor of the cave, it was dirty and full of debris that will cling to her hair If she Laid on it.

"You will have to lay on the bare floor."

He said, as if reading her thoughts.
