Chapter 3

It came as a surprise to Alpha Caden when she pushed him away, realizing suddenly who he was.

"My lord." She said. " How did you find me?"

He took a step back.

"That's immaterial right now. You know what you ought to do? Gather your skirts in your hands and let us go."

She did not protest. She knew something was wrong and she had not just woken up in a cave.

She ruminated over what could be possible reasons she was there until she was astride the horse with Alpha Caden.

It came rushing to her then. She had been attacked while she was out in the woods. The whirlwind!

Her wolf! She could not feel her within.

They started out on the journey., Not speaking to each other at all, both in their different thoughts.

"We have company."

Alpha Caden said suddenly as he made the horse screech to a stop.

"Do you ever shift into your wolf form?" He asked Madison.. Madison nodded her head.

"I shift once in a while when I have to get away from my family and go for a run in the woods."

Alpha Caden helped her down and steadied her against the horse. She stood there and watched him, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword.

She thought for a while that he was crazy because she felt no presence neither did she see any sign of anyone anywhere.

But then, she did not have her wolf in her and her senses were almost blunt. While she stood watching him, a woman appeared from the woods.

Caden drew his sword and stepped forward.

" What do you want? "

She asked at about the same time Caden did.

" You have wrestled Madison's wolf in the realms. You have to let her wolf go now."

" Or what happens?" She asked.

Madison was alarmed. How did Alpha Caden know what she did not? How had he known that she was not feeling her wolf?

"You are going to lose your head if you do not. I'll see to that."

He said in a matter of factly way. He was not kidding and his tone of voice did not suggest that he was.

The old lady laughed.

"How do you know so much about what happened in your absence?"

He asked Caden. There was no response. She strutted about and then stopped briefly.

"Lose my head? You think that will make me scared? You think doing that will restore her wolf either?"

She asked. That was right. If Caden lost his patience and snap her head off, she was not going to let go of Madison's wolf which she had entrapped in the realms and that would just about make everything worse because they might have to transport poor Madison across the country to find a magician who specialized in restoring wolves. They were rare.

"It is not impossible that she would have her wolf restored if you are killed. Let her have her wolf restored now and you will go unscathed."

Alpha Caden said. The lady laughed some more and began to trot off, her black dress trailing the ground behind her and picking up debris from the ground. Alpha Caden tried to stop her and she turned around with a feral snarl. The horse shifted back and so did Madison.

"You will not walk off me!" He yelled, stopping her with the sword and forcing her to turn to him.

"Keep the damn sword down!" The old lady cried. Her voice reverberated through the forest and she started to shift into her wolf form.

Alpha Caden sheathed his sword and also shifted into his wolf form and soon, there were two enormous and ominous looking wolves ready for a battle. The fight started before Madison could make sense of the situation of the moment. She was certain that what she was seeing was in a trance. It was happening so fast that she could not keep up with the pace.

There were snarling and snapping of bones and the horse she had been resting on walked away in fright, for a better

place to hide, while she fell to the ground.
