Despised Queen's Ascension

'Damnit! How could this be? She's human! Why in the wolf spirits would the Moon Goddess pair me with a puny human? Well, I'll be damned if I accept this. Then again.... My wolf will become restless. What to do? What should I do?'

'Right! I can keep her close for now and see if I can change my opinion of her. There is no way I'm presenting such a weak existence to the packs as their future Queen Luna. Hell no! Better yet, I can run this by my dad, and I'm sure he would understand me. Humans are not meant to lead. They are beneath us and there's no way I'm going to let one become my equal.'

These were Hunter Bloodfang's thoughts as he looked at the young lady being bullied by some mean looking guys. He had gone to the human territory to check on a piece of land that his father wanted him to purchase. Yes, he was a werewolf prince but in the human realm, the Bloodfangs were known as just an elite family with businesses all over.

On this particular day, Hunter had decided to check out the neighborhood and assess the extension of their realty business. This is when he caught a whiff of the most tantalizing scent ever. Without a doubt, he knew that it was his mate.

Hunter told his driver to pull over and alighted. The guys pulling and tugging at his mate were not fazed by his presence. They became even more aggressive. "Either you pay back every cent your sorry excuse of a father owe us or you pay in kind. How would you like that?" One burly guy with a buzz cut and a sleazy smile addressed the girl as he tried to kiss her.

"Never! Not me. I, Narla Diamante Lunaria, will never beg anyone. And I'd rather die than allow you wankers to touch me! You said it yourself. It is my dad who owes you, not me. So, care to tell me why I should pay for a fuckin grown man's debts with my body? Ha! You must be dreaming!"

'Woah! The girl's got swag.' Hunter could not help but sneak another look at the mate he was about to reject. He has been around humans for sometime but this one exuded a different kind of aura. Even when out numbered, Narla held on to her pride. "Hmmm, interesting." Hunter smirked and kept watching.

The guy with the buzz cut was momentarily stunned by Narla's vehemence and thus loosened his grip on her. Bad choice because once freed, Narla wasted no time before she kneed him straight where the sun does not shine. Buzz cut thug doubled over in pain and dropped onto the floor.

'Good choice.' Hunter mentally applauded his newly found mate. The buzz cut guy was presumably the leader of the thugs. Taking him down was a smart choice. As expected, the rest of the thugs were now looking at Narla with fear. Seeing this, Narla stepped on the buzz cut thug's groin and decided to go all out.

"Now, y'all listen to me clearly. You want your money, you go looking for the man who barely raised me. You know his name and you know where to find him. Who said daughters have to pay for their father's sins? Even if that were true, I would never do it because that man does not deserve a daughter like me." She paused whilst putting a little more pressure on Buzzcut's groin.

"Argh! Please. Please don't hurt me." "You better shut the fuck up, Buzzcut! You're such a cry baby, yet you like to strut your non-existent bravado when you prey on weak girls? Lemme tell you something. I, Narla, have never been one to return kindness with evil. But if you shove evil into my face, I'll return it a hundredfold!"

'Ha! She has even named him 'Buzzcut'?' This girl's got spunk and I like it.' Hunter could not help but take yet another look at his fated human mate. 'Just what had she gone through to make her so prickly?' Hunter could not help but wonder. But it did not take long for him to learn more about his human mate.

"Argh!"

Buzzcut let out another pained scream. Arla, though barely above 18 years old, was not one to take insults. She did not remove her foot from the thug's groin as she watched the other thugs, in case of a sneak attack. Her anger was almost palpable.

"You dare disturb my fuckin peace, on my frigging eighteenth birthday? My boyfriend just dumped me, telling me that I'm weak, poor, and not worth to stand on his side. After two fuckin years together, he chose my fuckin birthday to dump me! Then you guys think you can waltz in and taint my innocence just because my so-called father owes you! You must be joking. Today, I will rid the society of scum like you!"

Without batting an eye, she stomped harder on Buzzcut's groin and he wailed like a pig before he blacked out. The rest of the thugs looked on their faces aghast. This girl was not joking. She was out for blood. One by one the turned to run. One unlucky scrawny thug tripped and fell.

Narla grabbed him and headbutted him before telling him through clenched teeth to, "call the fuckin ambulance or Buzzcut might prematurely meet his maker!" Then she released him and hopped on her old bike and rode off as if nothing had happened.

"Woah, bro! Did I just witness an epic heroine in the human realm? That girl is so cool. I would not mind if I became friends with her. Damn! I never knew humans were this interesting." Ravena Bloodfang cooed standing beside her brother, Hunter. Hunter was pulled out of his reverie and snapped back to reality.

"Yeah. She's indeed quite an intrigue. Wait. When did you get here?" Hunter was shocked and a bit irritated. He had been so engrossed in watching his mate that he let his guard down. Bad choice for a werewolf. If Ravenna had been an enemy, his life would have been in danger.

"Bro? Don't tell me you did not even sense my presence! I arrived right at the moment when my heroine kicked that Buzzcut in the egg rolls! Wait. Are you by any chance smitten with my heroine? No no no, bro. She's mine. If you cared, you wouldn't have just watched whilst she almost got taken advantage of." Ravena protested , albeit weakly.

These two siblings were inseparable. They are the prince and princess of the werewolf realm. Yet they always kept a low profile. Not many werewolves even knew them. Hunter cleared his throat and responded nonchalantly. "How could I have noticed you when I was watching over my beautiful human mate?" He made sure to put emphasis on the word human.

Ravena blinked in quick succession, his mind reeling in shock. "Wait, wait, wait! Did you just say that she's your mate? Like seriously bro? Damnit. We have to follow her. How could you have let her leave when you've been looking for your mate since you turned sixteen? Goddesses! Hunter Nathaniel Bloodfang! Are you out of your mind?"

Hunter watched as his sister was getting worked up as if it was her mate that just left and smiled dotingly. "Calm down Venna. She's human and she's just broken up with her boyfriend. Do you think she's ready to meet another man? We need a strategy. At least we now know her name. Besides, we can follow those thugs to the hospital and get her dad's contact details. Don't worry sis, I got this."

Ravena let out a sigh of relief. "Okay then. We will do as you say. I thought you were going to reject her because of her identity." Hunter averted his gaze but ultimately, decided to be honest with his sister. "Initially, I indeed wanted to reject her. But she's not weak and I'm sure the Moon Goddess never makes mistakes. However, I will investigate and see which punk chose to hurt my princess on her eighteenth birthday."

"Yeah. If he's human, you need to rough him up a little. But if he's one of us... Heh! Anyway, let's go do a little sleuthing. I'm not at peace leaving my beautiful sister-in-law out in this godforsaken city alone. We need to work out a solid plan and ensure she's within our circles." Ravena patted Hunter's shoulder as she entered her own car.

Hunter stared at the direction Narla Diamante Lunaria went for a while before smiling faintly as he got into his car. He was sure of one thing. And that was the fact that he no longer wanted to reject his human mate. That girl is an enigma and one that I plan to unravel slowly and meticulously. Hunter mentally smirked before telling the driver to follow the ambulance
