Natalie’s POV

Brandon looked confused. “What was that supposed to mean? About my ex-wife?”

I kept my face calm. “He’s just being overprotective. Don’t overthink it.”

He didn’t look satisfied with that answer, but before he could ask again, I stood and walked around my desk.

“Give us a second,” I said to him. Then I pulled Dylan out into the hallway before this turned into something bigger.

Once we were alone, I spun toward him. “Seriously, Dylan?”

He didn’t even blink. “I don’t trust him. And honestly? You shouldn’t either.”

“You don’t know him.”

“I know how men like him operate. Smooth talk. Cold hands. And you’re acting like none of it affects you.”

“It doesn’t,” I lied.

He looked at me like he didn’t believe a word of it. “Then why are you hiding the truth?”

I stayed quiet.

Dylan softened. “You didn’t do anything wrong, Nat. You were married. You tried. He’s the one who ghosted through three years of it, not you.”

I glanced toward the office. “It’s not about who’s right or wrong. I

  • Divorce and Regret: Chasing My Famous Lawyer Ex-Wife   Chapter 145 – Helping Him Find Me

Natalie’s POVThe drive back to the city felt too quiet.Too intimate.Too dangerous.Brandon kept one hand on the wheel, the other resting loosely on his thigh, but his shoulders weren’t stiff anymore. They were relaxed—relaxed because of me.Which only made the pounding in my chest worse.“Thank you,” he said suddenly, breaking the silence. His voice was low, sincere. “For staying. For… listening and for being there with me.”I swallowed. “Sure.”Smooth, Natalie. Real smooth. It wasn’t sure for me. Nothing about tonight felt sure. Not when my pulse was doing sprints and my lungs forgot how to function. Not when he looked so raw, so open, that some protective instinct inside me kept reaching for him even when I shouldn’t.He exhaled, eyes still on the road. “I know I don’t say it much. But I mean it.”Great. Perfect. Why not make it harder for me?I forced myself to stare out the window, lights blurring past like streaks of gold. Anything to ground myself. But then the question slipp

Emma’s POVA chair scraped loudly beside me.Lucas dropped into it like he owned the resort. “Evening.”My soul left my body.Jeremiah straightened instantly, spine snapping into polite professionalism. “Mr. Ardent. Good evening, sir.”Lucas gave him a slow smile, the smile that should’ve been illegal. “Jeremiah. Lovely night, isn’t it?”I wanted to shove him into the ocean.“What are you doing here?” I hissed under my breath. He took a bite of the dessert he definitely did not buy and shrugged. “Eating.”I glared. He smiled wider.Jeremiah cleared his throat delicately. “Ms. Emma was just asking about tomorrow’s schedule. I was going over the sunrise activities and—”“Oh?” Lucas stretched his legs out, casual and obnoxiously confident. “I didn’t realize you two were having such an… intimate conversation.”I slapped my palm against my forehead. “Lucas.”Jeremiah blinked hard. “Sir, I assure you, I was only assisting Ms. Emma with—”“Sure,” Lucas cut in. “But hey—does your girlfriend k

Nathan’s POVThe report hit my desk with a dull, humiliating thud.“We’re down twelve percent this week alone,” my sales department manager, Jason Andrews, said quietly. Too quietly. Like he was afraid if he spoke normally, I’d explode. He wasn’t wrong.I skimmed the numbers again, jaw locked.Twelve percent. In one damn week.Because of Vivian Sinclair and her poisonous mouth.Jason cleared his throat. “Sir, clients are panicking. They’re asking if there’s truth to the claims she made about Graveswell Holdings…”I rubbed my temples, a slow burn rising in my chest.“Goddamit, I didn’t even really work with her,” I muttered. “She used my company behind my back. And now I’m paying for it.”Jason hesitated, then added, “She’s been on two morning shows since last week, sir. The interviews are… not helping.”I slammed the file shut.“Fuck,” I said through my teeth. “She’s destroying the reputation I spent years building.”Jason cleared his throat carefully, like he was choosing every sylla

  • Divorce and Regret: Chasing My Famous Lawyer Ex-Wife   Chapter 142 – Escaping the “Honeymoon”

Emma’s POVMy heart was pounding so fast I was convinced it was trying to break free from my chest and sprint back to the airport.Because there he was. Lucas Ardent.Stretched out like a sinfully comfortable panther across the honeymoon bed.He patted the space beside him like this was normal.“Come on,” he said, voice lazy and dangerous. “Join me. This bed is fantastic.”I stared at him like he’d spontaneously grown horns. “No.”He grinned. “Don’t think I arranged this, by the way. I didn’t.”“I don’t care,” I snapped.“I think,” he continued, undeterred, “we’re just destined to be together. Know what I mean?”I glared at him. “No. I don’t know what you mean. And I don’t want to know.”He laughed in amusement. “Ugh,” I muttered. I needed distance. Space. Air. Maybe a different dimension.I yanked my luggage upright, unzipped it, and grabbed the first dress I saw. No idea what color, style, or fabric—just that it was not pajamas and not lingerie and therefore acceptable for my Surv

  • Divorce and Regret: Chasing My Famous Lawyer Ex-Wife   Chapter 141 – A Foolish Hope

Natalie’s POVI stood frozen beside him, hands clasped tightly in front of me. I didn’t trust myself to move. Didn’t trust myself not to.His voice—usually smooth, confident—softened into something almost unrecognizable.“He… uh…wrote this too…” Brandon exhaled, blinking hard before reading from the letter to share with me. “‘I just wanted to give fate a little nudge. I didn’t want to force anything on either of you. But I saw what you didn’t.’”He paused, swallowing.“‘Two stubborn, lonely people who might find something beautiful together—if given the chance.’”My heart constricted, and my eyes filled with tears. But I blinked them away. Brandon kept reading, voice growing quieter.“‘I worried I wouldn’t have long left, so I acted sooner than I should have. I hoped… I prayed… something would bloom between the two of you.’”Oh, Grandpa York. A thousand emotions collided inside me—shock, guilt, grief, longing. But I forced my expression flat, composed. I couldn’t let anything show.

  • Divorce and Regret: Chasing My Famous Lawyer Ex-Wife   Chapter 140 – A Favor of Love

Natalie’s POVHe looked wrecked. Not dramatic, not loud—just silently, devastatingly undone. Like something inside him had been struck with a hammer, and he was sitting there trying to keep the pieces from spilling everywhere. And the worst part?I seemed to feel it too. Every ounce of that hurt echoed in my own chest.I stood there frozen, not sure what to do. Every instinct told me to go to him, touch his shoulder, hold him—something—but I stayed where I was, hands useless at my sides. He turned a page of the album slowly, like each photograph was a punch he wasn’t ready for.Moments of him growing up. Moments someone had cared enough to collect, organize, protect.Moments his grandfather watched from a distance. His throat bobbed. He shut the album gently, palms lingering on the cover like it was something sacred. Then he sank down onto the couch and kept quiet for several minutes. I just let him be. Finally, he exhaled—quiet, shaky—and reached for the sealed envelope that was in
