Everyone paved the way for the stretcher where Serina is. They headed straight to the observation room, then Daniel had to go back to the office to settle the meeting which Caster should have attended before coming to their banquet dinner this afternoon.
Vincaster was left outside the room together with the nurse. He glanced at her and was irritated when the woman stared at him.
"Are you done drooling at me? Can't you focus on your job as a nurse?"
The nurse finally got a hold of herself and stopped admiring the beauty in front of her. "Do you know this woman, Sir?" She asked for information that needed to be filled in by the person responsible for the patient.
"Serina Alpheus- Liverteo. 26 years of age, born on February 07, 2000. Blood type A+," he replied without even holding his breath.
The nurse was dumbfounded when he suddenly blurted out the necessary information without asking him.
"What else do you need?!" He asked with evident irritation in his voice.
"W-what is your relationship with the patient, sire?" Despite the fear towards the cold-blooded guy who accompanied the patient, the nurse managed to ask another question to complete her duty.
"She's my wife. Are you done?" He asked while crossing his arms together. Then, the nurse nodded her head, and before she could utter another word, Vincaster had turned his back already.
He went to the lobby and dialed the chairman's number to let him know that they might not attend the family banquet this afternoon.
"I knew you were lying when you told me that you are on a one week honeymoon. I should have hired an investigator to watch your movement."
"I'm not lying, so please stop interfering with my private life, grandpa. If you want to know the reason, then come here to Sioson Hospital, ward S."
"Are you sure you did not come up with an alibi again?"
"Since when did I do that? It was you who always doubted my words. Anyway, do not bombard her with questions because my wife is stressed right now."
"You are such a bad husband. How come your wife suffered from stress already when you guys had been wedded for just about a week? You didn't force her to marry you, weren't you? Honestly, I find it weird that you never had a ceremony, then out of nowhere, you showed me that marriage certificate."
"I told you, we are going to tell you everything. Don't overthink because it's bad for your health."
"Alright, I'll visit my granddaughter-in-law. You better show me your prowess in acting if you are going to fool this dying old man."
He sighed and replied, "We are married out of love, and it's not like what you think of our relationship."
The chairman made no statement and simply cut the line. After that conversation on the phone, Vincaster hid his phone inside the pocket of his black pants and went to Serina's ward. He found no one inside, aside from the patient. He sat on the edge of Serina's bed. Then a moment later, the doctor entered the room, holding the diagnosis result.
"Is she alright?" He asked and glanced at the woman sleeping on the hospital bed.
"Don't worry, the lady is alright. She just suffered Reflex syncope as the result of a reflex response to some trigger, in which her heart slows, or blood vessels dilate or widen."
"She fainted from an emotional shock?"
He wondered how stressed she was for fainting?
'What provokes her to faint? Was she traumatized by something? And, as far as my research about her is concerned, she does not have cardiovascular disease, nor has she had psychotic triggering sickness.'
"Yes, that is likely what happened. Does she have a phobia?"
'How would I know? I barely know this woman.' If he wasn't too careful about his words, he would have blurted those words out.
"She was a secretive person, so I'm quite unsure if she had a phobia. But, I noticed her cold hands when she was holding our new wedding ring."
"You need to encourage her to open up and free herself from whatever triggers her. If she kept on having episodes like this, her heart would grow weaker." The doctor tapped his back before leaving him a word of wisdom.
"I'm saying this as your family friend and not just your private doctor. I was surprised when your grandfather told me that you are married, at first I didn't believe it. But after seeing how concerned you were, I knew why you had kept your marriage a secret. Your woman is quite an ordinary woman, and I know you protected her private life. So, even if she's preserved, you must still try to get to the bottom of her heart because that's what a couple should do. Take care of your woman."
He ran his finger in his hair as the doctor left and thought he might have fooled the doctor about his marriage, but not his grandpa. He glanced at her and noticed something was wrong.
"I-it's your fault," says Serina with her eyes closed.
"She even talked with her eyes closed," says Vincaster as he bends a little to wake her up and only to receive a slap from her.
"What the hell?!" he roared in anger and it awakened his wife.
Serina was surprised when the first thing her eyes laid on was Vincaster's face, which was only an inch away from her face.
"You were pretending to sleep to slap me, aren't you?" he added while closing the gap between their faces, and just when the tip of their nose touched, the door had opened. He was startled and lost his balance, so he ended up putting half of his weight on Serina.
Serina forgot how to react because her mind went blank when a soft and strawberry taste of his lips touched hers. Her eyes widened upon realizing what happened...
"Ehem."
They both turned their heads when the chairman cleared his throat.
'That bastard kissed me!' Her mind was in an uproar but could not act on her real emotion because the chairman had entered the ward already. Instead of throwing a fit, she extended her arm and hung it on Vincaster's neck and pull him closer to her mouth as she whispered, "I'll kill you, a*shole."
"Did I interrupt something?" says the chairman wearing a stretched smile from ear to ear. He brought a basket of fruits for Serina and placed it on the top of the bedside table.Vincaster stood up and acted as if nothing awkward had happened between him and his wife. He kissed the back of his grandpa's palm and helped him sit on the edge of Serina's bed. "Does your age make you forget the basic rule of knocking before entering someone else's private space?""Stop scolding your grandfather. Hubby, where's your manners?" Serina interrupted and thought it was great timing to act like they were a real couple.Vincaster was surprised when Serina cut her off and asked about his manner. His upper lip curled a bit in protest, and if it wasn't for the sake of conv
"Yuck!" She stood up and immediately wiped her lips."Yuck?!" He repeated her words, but this time he was questioning her. "You.. argghh! How dare you insult me?" He was holding his temper and tried not to be sensitive as hell. "Do I look like a virus to you?""Yes, you are a virus that will kill me in the future," she replied while getting all her staff and the basket of fruits. Then, she stormed out of the room."What did you say?" he followed her but had to stop when the nurse assigned to process the patient discharge documents asked for his signature.Serina was about to leave when all of a sudden her phone rang. She glanced at Vincaster from a few blocks away from her, who was busy sig
"Take us to this address," says Vincaster while handing over a piece of a business card. The driver kept glancing at them through the rear mirror. "Miss, you seem uncomfortable. Do you really know the guy next to you? Is he harassing or threatening you?" The middle-aged man could not help but meddle when Serina sat on the other end of the passenger's seat to distance herself from Vincaster."Didn't you hear me calling her 'wife'?" says Vincaster with his infamous expressionless face. Despite his nonchalant countenance, his voice had proved his irritation."I have been a taxi driver for two decades, and believe me or not, I often hear weirdos and psychotic people use that excuse.""Do I look like some c
Serina suddenly stood frozen in tears seeing her mother alive. Back then, before she traveled time, her mother died because she saved Savina when the fire broke out from their apartment.“I miss you so much, mom.” She embraced her tighter. "Mom, can you drop the knife first? Hear us out. Anyway, Vincaster, I want you to meet my mom, Samira Alpheus."Her mother is bewildered by Serina’s odd behavior. "Both of you, sit down. We need to talk, and you..." Samira glanced at Savinah. "Go to our room and don't eavesdrop. This matter is for adults only.""But... mom!""No more buts, close the door and go study in our room. Don't come to the living room unless I'm done with these two."Savinah stamped her feet before leaving. Samira placed the knife on top of the coffee table, next to the dilapidated sofa in their sala, only a few steps away from the door. She was starin
"Ouch!" He arched in pain as his back hit the wardrobe when Serina cornered him."Don't ever call me your wife in public. I already told you that I don't like people discovering my weird connection to you," says Serina in a very low voice, just enough for Vincaster to hear it because she's afraid that the people outside the room might catch their conversation."Then, what should I tell the people around us? I can only protect your secret in my jurisdiction, and that is LV's personnel and staff. Keeping your secret from your neighborhood isn't something I can assure.""Are you stupid? Why would you worry about my neighbors? Just don't respond, aren't you the snobbish type, so ignoring people around you is an easy task."
Vincaster is left alone with Savina in the dining area. He was stealing glances at Savina, and the latter noticed it."What? I won't help you, Mr." She glared at Vincaster. "Are you really my sister's husband?" she asked."Yes, we were married for almost three months," he replied. On the next day, after they met at the exclusive bar, he proceeded with the legalization of the paper, but he waited for two months before sending it to Serina. Technically, from the day they signed the paper on the bar, they are already married, and it was almost three months from today's date."You stole my sister from me. She is supposed to live with us once we get out of the financial crisis, but now she has to live
"Just kidding, Let's sleep since we're both busy for tomorrow," says Vincaster while removing his t-shirt after letting go of Serina."H-hey, why are you sleeping half-naked?" she panicked when his broad shoulder and muscular chest revealed before her eyes."It's freaking hot in your house, and I can't sleep without an aircon," he replied while closing his eyes. She turned her back on him and crouched to touch the floor, and a cold moist emitted by the floor kissed the tip of her finger. She stood up and glanced at the empty space next to her husband."The floor is too cold, and even if I use a blanket, I'll probably catch a respiratory illness if I insist on sleeping there," she mumbled after tu
"Are you going to school now, Savi?" "Yes, brother-in-law." Serina massaged her forehead because hearing how her younger sister addressed him so dearly had almost made her scream in irritation. It makes her want to scold Savina. "Do you want me to drop you at your school?" Vincaster asked. "I'm used to walking my way to school since it is only walking distance from our house." "Wait for me. I'll just take a quick shower, then I'll drop you off." "You don't need to do that. It's not your obligation to take care of my sister. I'll drop her off. I'll give you my spare
