I stepped in dark private room nervously.
“Hello?" I called out in the darkness but got no response. For a moment, my heart quivered in fear. What if I get pounced upon by some men? I turned back to the entrance to leave, I made to run out but the door got closed from the outside. NO! I was a trembling mess, sweat poured out from my pores and I almost passed out in terror, I looked around me half squatting with my fists pushed forward in preparation to strike any of the supposed men down. “Happy birthday!" Voices called out from the dark before the light came on and I almost sank into the floor but Bianca held me still. “Your pose was funny." She giggled into my ear and my stomach churned in disgust. "You know I have nyctophobia." I hissed through gritted teeth but she let go of me before eyeing me. “Calm down, don't be dramatic. We were all here with you." She walked away. “Happy birthday Babe." Matteo sang happily, bringing the cake towards me. I looked around the faces of the invitees and bit my inner cheeks in sadness, they were all either Matteo friends or Bianca's, I had no friends. “Go on, blow off the candle and make a wish." He smiled at me but I felt no desire to force a smile. I did blow off the candle either way and made a wish that they both meet a terrible fate. “What did you wish for?" Bianca stood before me with two glasses of red wine in hand, she had a large grin as she looked at me for answers. "It wouldn't be a wish if I told you.” The words forced themselves out of my throat as my eyes stared at the glasses in her hands. "Right.” Her smile irritated me as I stood awkwardly in the centre of the room, clenching my handbag like my life depended on it. "Yes, this.” She pushed the drink forward. "Hey guys, let's make a toast to the birthday girl.” She raised her voice and everyone stood with a glass in hand. My heartbeat spiked, she was making it difficult for me to refuse her. "Go on, take it.” She pushed the glass forward towards me. "I feel sick, I can't drink.” She looked back at Matteo who had a frown on his face. "That's nonsense.” She smiled before pushing the glass into my hand. "A glass of wine won't kill you Valentina, we all know that.” I swear to the heavens, if she smiled one more time, I was going to let hell loose and smack her face. "To the birthday girl!” She cheered and they all replied before downing their drink. I stood frozen before forcing a cough, in a twinkle of an eye, I splashed the drink on her while doubling over in a fit of cough ignoring the gasps around me. “Aah!" She shrieked and I coughed louder, hitting my chest while on my knees. “Oh my God! Bianca. Are you okay?” Matteo rushed towards her instead while she fussed over the wet patch on her expensive cloth, ignoring me completely on the floor. Soon enough, I felt his hand tighten itself around my arm before dragging me up. "Ouch Matteo! You are hurting me!” I cried out but he ignored me, his eyes were thick with disgust. “Apologize!" He demanded. “What?" I glared at him. “Apologize to her now!" “I had a fit!" I declared stubbornly. “That's no excuse…” His hand went tighter, his fingers digging into my flesh and my eyes stung. "Oowww Matteo, it's alright for real, it's just a wet patch.” Bianca purred before hurrying towards us like she wasn't just standing by and watching things unfold. Effortlessly peeling Matteo's hand from my arm, she clung to me before whispering in my ear. “I told you earlier, you don't have to be dramatic." I felt the poison in her tongue. “Why can't I when it's my birthday today?" I asked her, meeting her gaze with a hard stare as she frowned. “You want Matteo right?" I questioned in a whisper and her eyes widened. “Nah, you already have him wrapped around your little dirty fingers right?" Her grip on me loosened, her face went red. “You can have him." I turned to face her fully, her breath was loud enough for me to feel her terror and mine came in a hurry, showing my anger. She broke the tension in the air with a snort, then a laugh before bending down to the table closeby to pick a drink for herself. I squinted at her. “Don't be silly." She waved her hand in the air. “Do you love Matteo?" I stepped closer and she spilled the drink out of her mouth to my face, drawing everyone's attention to us. “Is everything okay?" Came Matteo's concerned voice. “We are fine." I responded, cleaning my face. “I bet you enjoy his lips more than I did." I stepped even closer and suddenly, she gripped my clothes tightly, throwing herself backwards, forcing me to push her hand off my cloth by reflex and soon, she was on the floor with a loud thud followed by her shrill painful cry.“You see, your dear lover doesn't even care about you.” Lorenzo was all up in my face, his foul breath worsening my situation. I kept mute, I could no longer hear my voice, I had lost my voice, the blood in my mouth tasted rancid too.“What do you say huh?" He made me shiver when the blade of the dagger touched my face.My eyes were beginning to get heavy and I felt numb to all pains shooting across my entire body, from my hanging hands to my toes. How many badlucks does a person have to have in a lifetime to be enough? I think I will just…die. I think I want to sleep. My lids were beginning to flutter to a close and my mind became blank of any thought. “What do you think you are doing?" I could feel the venom in his voice but my mind remained blank.I couldn't conjure up a reaction to his acidic voice. What does fear feel like?Is this how it feels to die? “Don't you dare close your eyes!" I felt something sharp peirce into my wrist. Nothing…no reaction. His voice was beginni
My throat went dry all of a sudden and I found it difficult to speak.Yeah, fuck me. I shouldn't have let you be on your own, I know but what you don't know Darling is that I have always been by your side even when you slept every single minute of the day for the past two years. I should have shown myself to you, be by your side while you recovered but I could not just risk having you in this same situation again. Not ever! But I am wrong. WRONG! I want to scream, blow off some steam, slap myself for being this stupid. How could I trust Johnny so blindly just because I found out that he shared the same DNA as you? “Ba…”"Don't you… *cough*..."I heard a sick chuckle, I believe it belonged to Lorenzo. I can't breathe but I must fight to stay conscious and sane. “What happened to your voice, Valentina?" I asked cautiously, signalling to my men to continue their deep search. She sounded like she had her vocal cord tampered with. “I love her breasts, Dominik." I gritted my teeth
“Hide in here darling and don't make a noise." The little me had blinked up at my mother's red rimmed puffy eyes as she nodded at me in assurance. No! I don't want to hide! But I nod back and tuck my legs in till she closes the door and soon I jerk at the loud bang before the low pleading, sick pounding of flesh against flesh, the loud curses and the painful cries. My head hurts. The hurtful eyes of the little boy covered in blood. Dominik! His emotionless eyes years later, demanding that I run away with him. The snide remarks from Bianca which I had thought were thoughtful words. The coded words and actions between mother and daughter which I had missed all my life.Matteo's insincere smile and disgusted look which meant the world to me, I feel so sick. Memories from the past came flooding in. It is all a dream because when my lids fluttered and I became aware of my environment, the musty smell around me made me hold back a cough. Where was I? My hands felt numb, tied above
I stared down at her shiny eyes in disgust. I could actually see stars in them. Her lips quivered before growing wide into an adoring smile.“Don't fucking touch me." I glared hard at her raised hand. “I knew it! I had always known that you love me more than that bitch!" She exclaimed excitedly. My palms itch to smack her face but I hold back. I want to deal with Johnny and his accomplice in the most cruel manner ever but I had promised myself not to go down that path anymore. I need to turn them over to the police and expose their deeds to the public enough to cause extreme damage and destroy their career.Remembering Valentina's hateful face, I felt the air get knocked out of my lungs. I turned back and walked towards the only couch in the bedroom. “Mr. President." Tiana called, slowly leaning towards me from where she was seated.I raised the gun to her face, stopping her in place. “Don't you dare!" My eyes flashed with murderous glint.“Boss." The voice I had been waiting f
“FUCK! JOHNNY LEAVE!" But Johnny didn't leave. He stood, legs apart, his hands folded across his chest as he glared at me.“Leave man! I want to spend time with my wife!" “She. is. not. your. wife!" Johnny boomed, his face red with anger. I watched with interest as Jack stood slowly to his feet, his eyes regarding me one more time before turning to face Johnny. “What are you on about sickhead." He pushed Johnny. He stayed rooted to the floor, the impact of the push insignificant. “You will not stick your dick into my daughter's hole." I flinched.“Ha! Now she is your daughter, ei?" He chuckled. "You know the deal Jack, this…" He waved his hand to me.“...is all on the surface level. We are only in this for the money and to cover up what Tiana exposed to the public.” Tiana? My ears perked up, my eyes narrowing at them. What did Tiana say? Jack turned abruptly to look at me and I blinked innocently at him, a forced innocent smile on my lips. "Shut your fucking mouth before s
If I don't find a way out of here anytime soon, I am sure I will go crazy. I kept biting my thumb even after I had drawn blood from it, the plates of pancakes beside me had grown cold. The duo had transferred me from my initial prison of a room into hell. What duo? This room was painted white with one bed and nothing else. No books to read, no phone to keep me company, no one to talk to, nothing! Nothing at all for four good DAYS!! Or was it five days? Three days? I think I have lost count. “AAAARRGHHHH!!!" I shouted again, banging my head against the white wall. Was it a crime that I suggested that he get married to me? ‘It'll help you…us.' I had continued after they both gave me skeptical looks. I can't even see their faces clearly. ‘Look…’ I had splayed out my hands before me. ‘I am in charge of Dominik's properties and he is…dead.’ I had felt my heart skip two beats at the mention of his name but push the thought of him being dead to the back of my mind. ‘I a
