"I'll work on that." My voice was breezy as I spoke. I didn't...want to kill the pastor. Not the pastor. Saint's eyes ran over me sharply. "Are you sure you can do it? I can send someone instead." "If that someone is Colt, then no. I'm going to do the job." I said. It was permanent. No one had to know that the competitive spirit in me right now was a hundred and one percent. "I understand, Ariel." He placed his hand on my shoulder. "I will let you do the job with him. But-" My heart raced in my chest as I awaited his next words. It hung over me like a death sentence. "It depends on how well you do tonight." He completed his words. My brows moved as my lips curved into a smirk. "I will not fail you, father." It was a promise. ****** To many, I was an angel. To others like the people in our empire, I was nothing short of the devil. Beautiful outside, dark inside. It was supposed to make me feel isolated, but it didn't. It couldn't....not when you were with people of like minds. The phrase was right, 'Birds of a feather flock together.' But as the daughter of Capo de Capi of the mafia world, Saint D'Angelo, I wasn't sure I could even 'flock'. I could only 'pretend.' "Black won't cut it." I ran my hands over the silky material and turned to give the lady a glare, "Get me a red gown." "Does it need to have many pockets?" She rushed to pick the black gown from the queen sized bed. "No. But it needs to have a corset. And get me a mask too." I said. "Alright ma. It will be ready soon." "Be quick about it, I don't have much time. It'll soon be seven pm." I urged her on and she nodded before rushing out of my room to get the job done. I cracked my neck lightly and inhaled with slight relieve, before proceeding to take off my church dress. Pulling off the dress, my tights were fitted perfectly to my legs and held the gun that was fixed under the flare gown I had worn to church. I couldn't just do without the gun, though Saint D'Angelo warned that we should never take a gun into the house of God. We should always come as we were and we would be accepted. We need protection from the Lord and Him alone. We could never protect ourselves. I let him ramble on because I know he was the only one who didn't carry a gun among our group of people. Emphasis on only. Reason being that, he knew he would always be protected and that definitely didn't come from God. He didn't and could never earn that kind of mercy. I had barely let go of the gun when the door to my room opened and I turned around swiftly, pointing the gun to whoever had the guts to barge into my room that way. "Chill," Colt raised his hands above his head in a mocking manner, a funny smirk playing on that face of his. "What the fvck are you doing in my room?" I asked, nudging the gun ina movement that read 'Get the fvck out!' It was obvious Colt would miss that anyways. He always missed the important things. "Wow...sexy pants." He stared at the fittings leggings I was wearing and I scoffed lightly, dropping my gun. "Surely, you aren't here to oogle at me." It wasn't a question. It was a fact. I and Colt never got in agreement. It was something that had always been between us and I don't even remember how it all started. But the constant thing that remained in our long time of being together was hate....and competition. If I didn't act fast and better, my father would leave the empire into Colt's hand and I'll rather eat chickens feathers than watch that happen. He stepped fully into my room, staring at me with his glintful eyes that spelt mischievousness. "Are you sure you can kill him?" He asked me and my eyes narrowed thinnly. "What. Are you talking about?" I asked. "You know what, Ariel, don't act dumb." He shook his hand, feeling funny. "This is going to be your stepping stone. If you fail, it's going to be the last big thing for you. Saint is going to put a fvcking bullet into your head and boom, there you go." "Saint is my father. Mine." I said sharply, "and I don't think fathers go around, firing bullets in their children's heads." I didn't know why I said that, because Saint D'Angelo was different from every other fathers out there and I know, he doesn't really give a fvck if a bullet got into my head, as long as that doesn't interrupt his plan. Colt sniffed lightly, "You think so, Ariel? Well, we'll find out tonight, won't we?" He leaned closer to me, his lips brushing the lobe of my ear, "There's a reason why he's called the King of the Mafians. Delano. Cannot. Be. Killed. It's obvious you are taking on a losing game." I pushed him off me in annoyance, "It depends on me, not you, Colt. I picked the game. I'll fvcking deal with it. Now, get out...of my room." "I can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve, Ariel." He smirked and waved as he walked out of my room. I scoffed lightly, banging the door close the moment his sorry ass disappeared out of my face. ***** It poked me dangerously and I knew I had to go to the restroom this time around before something dangerous really happened. I walked past the crowd in the dimly lit hall where the party was ongoing and I could feel eyes all over me. Watching me. I didn't have to look to know if was a mixture of my father's men and those other men who were looking for a new toy to play with. I didn't stop, I sharply turned into the corner leading to the restroom and got in, rushing into one of the cabins as fast as possible. Placing my hand into my gown, I pulled out the knife, exhaling deeply when the stabbing stopped. It dropped blood and it was enough proof for me to know that it cut a little flesh by the side of my tummy. Fvck it, all because of that crazy guy who was named 'The Viper'. Tonight was going to be the night which he dies. I went silent, waiting for the expected voice in my earbud. "He's in." One of the men said "Ariel," It was now my father's voice, "This. Is your biggest break." He said.ARIELTHE LION’S DEN11PMHidden in the center of the city, an underground bar for only serious businesses, like mafias, the Lion’s den was the best place for secret meetings. And for someone like me, I have a membership card, even though it’s extremely hard to get.For me, it was easy. It wasn’t the name Ariel which worked for me, but it was the work I did to make that name known. If someone else was Ariel, then that name wouldn’t be important. But it was me.It was me.It was me.I repeated it so many times till it stuck into my brain. My life wasn’t a lie. My identity wasn’t a lie. It didn’t matter what anyone told me. It didn’t matter what happened right now or in the nearest future, I was already the one and only Ariel D’Angelo. Since that night. I walked into the darkest part of the room, sitting on the thick cushion chair as I ordered a vodka. I didn’t like drinking it at times like this, but I needed it to clear my head or else, I could explode from the numerous thoughts rush
DELANOFor someone who claims she hates me and has no emotions, Ariel is pretty inconsistent with her words. She says one thing and does the other, in just a split second. How far does she want to take me before I start losing my mind concerning her? After what felt like an eternity, she finally pulled away from me, her eyes flickering round the amusement park in a second. She sighed, “They are no longer here.” Then, her eyes moved back to me. And they changed. Her lips parted slightly, “Huh…”“What’s going on?” I asked, running my tongue over my lower lip, to let her taste sink in. Or…to hold on to the last I might get of her.“It was my mistake. I’m sorry. Just conclude it…”“Was it a mistake?” My eyes narrowed, “Kissing me…was your mistake?”“It was unplanned. Something came up–““If I’m being used as your shield, I deserve to know thy, don’t I?”She scoffed, “It’s my secret, why do I have to tell you?” “Then, I’ll like a payment.” I closed the gap between us. “You not only stabb
ARIELSome people really act differently from how they looked…or from the stories heard about them. And an example of people like this…is Delano.“What are we doing here?” I asked, my eyes darting towards him.He shrugged casually, passing me an ice cream cone he’d just gotten from the seller, at an amusement park.“I assumed you must have come here a lot since you take care of the children in your father’s house.”“Why would you mention them?” I asked, my eyes narrowing. The children…were a sensitive topic and I would prefer to stay clear of them if we were having a discussion. Everything could be spoken about..except the children.“Don’t tell me you have a bad memory with the amusement park?” His brows shifted. “If you do, we could leave. I don’t mind.”It wasn't a mockery. Just…pure concern. I could see them in his eyes.I blinked, looking away as my tongue went down the ice cream. I needed all the sugar I could get right now.“Winter?”“What do you take me for? It’s just an amuse
ARIELI push Delano away like he burnt me. So hard, he had to catch himself before he could crash into the cushion chair.Gritting my teeth, I said, “You must be out of your mind!”“What?” Delano shrugged, rubbing his fingers underneath his chin as he studied me calmly, without a flinch of fear or remorse in his eyes. Was I the only one feeling flustered by the things he had said?Realizing that, I stepped backwards slightly, feeling too aware of how the hairs on my skin rose up. His head cocked slightly, he was definitely enjoying this.“We are married. It’s such a pain we haven’t had our wedding night yet.”“Don’t speak of such nonsense with me. This marriage is strictly business.” I snapped and walked out of him, rushing up the stairs to my room. The moment the door closed behind me, my purse fell from my shaking hands. I hated this moment. And the fact that his words got to me. I hated it all.By the way…why were we the only ones living in this house?****“I want a maid.” I said,
ARIEL"Ariel. So," D'Leonardo cut the steak on his plate with precised measurement and concentration, you could tell he tortured people in this manner. His eyes moved up to me, "now that you are married to Delano, you can tell us why you tried to kill him at the party, can't you?"Everyone stared at me. His cousins and their parents, Colt and my father, even Delano. He has an expectant look on his face, like he wanted to see what I would use to cover up–but I wasn't stupid. Anyone could tell that D'Leonardo already knows the truth."He did business on my father's port, which is totally unacceptable," I said fiercely and I could see one of his cousins raised his eyes up, a smirk on his lips. I didn't care much about him. He seemed too stupid for me to bother. My age, maybe."Is?" D'Leonardo arched a brow, "Do you mean it's still inappropriate for him to do business there? I mean, you are married."I smiled skillfully, "Business should be separated from family. If Delano wish
ARIELI smiled with no lesser pretension than what D'Caprico threw to me. My smile was graceful and perfect like what I have been trained to be. However, I knew I could never fit into the perfect mafia family. Girls were meant to be docile, quiet, obedient, I was not that type. I was not trained for marriage, I was trained for war. And they would never understand that. Glad, my father hadn't forced me to submission like other empires did, but even that was my choice."How are you doing?" "I'm fine," I replied sweetly, placing my hand on Delano's with nothing less than a sinful smile, "Delano has been treating me fairly okay. Just a day after marriage and I feel good."Delano let out a slight scoff of amusement and my fingers tightened on his shoulders in a warning mark. He'd better stop that sh*t right now."That's good, considering the fact that you wanted to kill him, just a week ago. I can say you guys really changed sides pretty fast. How does your fa

ARIEL"So....Sasha?" Asshole Colt looked at me, taking his eyes away from the road."I didn't think you'd come to my company. You should have given me a call." He said."How then would you know that I'm really interested in you? I prove through actions and not just words." I smiled at him and his l
