ZAHIR. It had to be a dream of some sorts because I didn't believe it was King Zach standing before us. A bigger dream that Serafina was carrying my child. If anyone told me two surprises couldn't coexist, I could easily debunk their statement with these scenarios happening before me. As soon as he set eyes on Serafina, his lips trembled as tears filled his eyes. He moved towards her, his arms spread out to wrap her in a hug but I stretched out my hand, stopping him as he made a move. "How dare you?" I asked, my voice in a low rumble. "What are you doing here? How did you get into my Kingdom?" My eyes narrowed on him. He raised both of his hands in surrender, his expression giving nothing away. "I mean no harm. I am here with good intentions." "Then state it." I gritted out, ignoring Serafina who stood beside me, moving from one side to the other. "I am here to warn you about something," He continued, then his eyes darted towards Serafina. "I am sure she know
ZAHIR. Several men were stationed in different parts of the border. In less than an hour, the human army had filled the whole place, coming with horses, chariots and carriages. They all helped in informing people. They went from house to house, warning the people about an impending attack while the others helped in the evacuation. Some families left with their vehicles while some were helped into carriages and transported to different Kingdoms. It was safer that way. This went on for several hours nonstop but this didn't eradicate the panic that filled my soul. I remained restless, making enquiries on how things were going on functional posts. I was assured not to worry by Steven. "Where are they being evacuated to though?" Steven asked when he returned from his inspector to give me details of what was happening. "They would have to stay in the Kingdoms for the main time. It's the only option we have because Aries is probably on his way here. We can't risk him finding
ZAHIR It was still dusk and the first morning light was yet to appear. The silence was deafening and I was sure that if I screamed, my voice was going to ring around the whole of Lycaronia. I was relieved. So relieved that everyone was able to escape. I had watched Serafina leave with King Zach and Dahlia in the carriage, not calming down until I got information that they were out of the boundaries. It was just me. Even Steven had left with the others. I had ridden him with the duty of taking care of everything until my return, if it ever happened. But I knew I had to end this once and for all so I stayed back and waited for the Prince to arrive. He was going to meet the shock of his life. I mounted my horse and rode to the eastern part of the boundary as King Zach instructed. According to him, he was going to be coming in through that direction. So I waited on my horse, rage boiling through me when I heard the sound of heavy hooves beating and drawing close to the b

CHAPTER ONESERAFINA Dead silent, just like a graveyard. And the main reason for that choking silence was the thick tension that existed in this meeting room; the tension was so whole, you could almost slice it with a knife. The meeting was supposed to have started two hours ago, but they were waiting for the final guest to arrive. Nobody had said anything for the past two hours; they just sat on their seats and you could practically see it written all over their faces that they were trembling deeply within. The Five Great Kings had gathered around for an impromptu meeting due to the never–ending attacks from the Lycans and Wolves. Ever since they got their freedom and were set free from the bondage chains of the humans, they've been getting back at us, hard and brutally.Occasionally, their gazes would swivel to the empty chair at the table, the one reserved for whoever they were waiting for. With every look they took at that chair, you could see their apparent fright
CHAPTER TWOSERAFINA I took a moment to digest the hard–to–swallow pill my father had forced down my throat. But I choked on it, unable to process it as it made absolutely no sense to me. I couldn't believe my ears, it was like I was hearing things, and I really hoped I was. I chuckled sardonically, "You're joking father, aren't you?" I looked to him, expecting a confirmation but he stared at me apologetically and that's when I knew he was being really serious. "Serafina dear, just do it for the Kingdom." He said to me, like it was just a simple thing to do, like it was a simple walk to the stream, like it was writing the alphabet. But in a real sense, I'm going to be slaves to wolves!"What are you saying, father?" I questioned, rising up from my seat. My eyes scanned the rest of the Kings, they seemed unfazed with the literal fact that my father just offered to sell me off to a beast! They were in support of it, they knew about this, they've been planning this for only god kno
CHAPTER THREESERAFINA "Are you crazy, Serafina? What are you talking about? How can you boldly tell me that you've decided to relinquish your title as a Princess so you can be a slave to that feral beast?" Prince Arie blasted, directing all the anger at me like I was the one who made the decision on my own accord. Prince Arie. The man I’ve been betrothed to before I was even old enough to understand I was born of royal blood and betrothals were part of the inevitable things that came with it. Our union has been planned for a long time. I simply can't back out even though it was a loveless union. By now, I was supposed to be married to him; our marriage has been scheduled five times and we've had to shift the date because the constant Lycan attacks made it impossible to plan a wedding. It would also be quite insensitive to do something like that at a crucial time like this when your people are dying. I don't love Prince Arie, I can't overemphasize this enough, but my father
SERAFINA I watched as my royal crown shattered on the floor. With it went my title, my dignity, my pride and everything I stood for as a princess or rather, used to stand for. It all still felt like a bad dream and I held onto that feeling, hoping this would be in fact, a nightmare that I would soon wake from but no, the the nearly–strangulating feel of the collar around my neck and the bitter taste of shame and disgrace that sat on my tongue were too factual and overly real to be a nightmare. It was a reality. My reality. The end of a rope being sharply lashed on my back jolted me out of my thoughts and left behind a sting on my skin. It’s wicked stroke sent me reeling, and I lost balance on my knees and fell to the ground. I let out a shrill outcry of pain and I craned my head upward and amidst the fog of tears that laid in my eyes, I saw his tall figure tower above me, a sinister glare in his eyes that was enough to kill and the whip in his hand. Before
