Chapter Four

Later in the night of that same day...

Sitting with her legs crossed over each other on the couch in the hotel suite she shared with her husband, Alessia Kings, kept swiping her thumb across her phone screen. Her head was bent close to it as her fingers began tapping away at the screen rapidly and quietly.

"Amore mio(My love)." Her husband, Fernando Kings, called sweetly coming out of the bathroom as he ran his fingers through his damp hair but got no response from her.

Entering the living room, he sat next to her and leaned in for a kiss on the neck, placing his head on her shoulder. While she was scrolling through pictures of young men on her phone, a troubled expression was noticeable on her face.

"Not this again, love." He said, his voice rasping slightly. She looked up at him with big brown eyes filled with worry.

"Fernando, leave me alone. If I don't do this, how is our Bambina(Baby) ever going to find her life partner?" She whispered and he let out an exasperated sigh and pulled her closer against his chest so her forehead was pressed against his collarbones.

"Amore mio,(My love) relax. I think we should give her some time as she said, we can't keep cajoling her to go on blind dates that will eventually yield to nothing." He sighed and Alessia pushed herself up looking at him with a disgusted look on her face.

"Some time?" She asked incredulously, raising a brow at him.

"She'll be thirty in a few months from now. How can you tell me to relax?" She exclaimed, pulling away completely from him.

"How old was I when I had her?... Twenty." She asked but answered her own question before he got the chance to.

"And you know we would have had more children if it weren't for the serious complications I had during her conception." She explained and Fernando frowned deeply and rubbed his temples as the memory of his wife bleeding and screaming at the top of her lungs while trying to deliver their baby girl flashed through his mind.

"I know, my love." He replied, rubbing her arm gently as she leaned back onto his shoulder and took deep breaths.

"But don't you think we should wait till she's ready?" He questioned after watching her try to calm herself down with deep breaths.

"You know, today at Esmeralda's wedding Riza and Carlos said something that hurt me." She admitted and Fernando nodded, waiting for her to continue, which she did.

"Camilla was admiring the wedding dress she gifted to Esmeralda saying she looked beautiful which I also agreed with. Then Riza made a comment, saying she couldn't wait till it was her turn to get married and was sure her wedding dress will look more beautiful." She paused and Fernando nodded.

"Okay, that's not a bad thing to say." He commented but Alessia shook her head slowly.

"Fernando, you know she didn't mean that. She was only trying to taunt us." She reminded him, making her husband frown in thought.

"I know, but that isn't hurtful enough." He stated and she looked at him with a pointed stare before letting out a breath and sitting up straight.

"Yes it wasn't hurtful enough but what Carlos said was what hurt me." She told him and Fernando furrowed his eyebrows.

"What did he say?" He questioned, curious to hear her response.

"After Riza said that, he laughed and told Riza that she might have to wait for a long time and that they'd probably be in the grave by the time that happens," Alessia revealed, looking down at her lap and Fernando sighed, before squeezing her thigh lightly.

"Did Camilla hear him say that?" He queried and Alessia nodded.

"What did she say?" He questioned, still holding onto her thigh.

"She chuckled and told him that she was being careful so she wouldn't end up like his daughters who were divorced with children and living with him." She answered, causing Fernando to chuckle softly.

"That's my Bambina (baby). Always ready with her witty comebacks." He praised, his grin widening until he saw his wife's facial expression change into one that indicated that she wasn't satisfied with the response he gave.

Quickly faking a frown, he cleared his throat, "Umm, I mean...I..."He trailed off searching for an escape route in his mind but couldn't find any.

"Oh come on, Amore(Love)...that was a good one. Those people need to learn how to keep to their businesses and shut their mouths sometimes and who better can make that happen than Camilla?" He confessed making the blonde-haired woman by his side shake her head in disagreement.

"Carlos is your brother Fernando, we shouldn't encourage our daughter to disrespect him, his wife, or family." She retorted and he let out a scoff.

"They should also learn to stop taunting my daughter. It's not like men don't want her, she's just not ready. Besides, she caught Esmeralda's bouquet today so that means she too would soon be married so there's nothing to worry about." He defended and she rolled her eyes.

"Now I see why Cammy is still single. You don't see it as a problem. And just because she caught some flowers doesn't mean she'll be married soon. That's all superstition, we need to do something ourselves." Alessia retorted.

"Oh come on Amore mio(My love), she already has one parent pestering her to get a guy and settle down with him, I don't think I need to join the cue." He countered and she scowled even deeper.

Before he knew what was happening, she stood up, took off her robe, and walked over to the bed.

"Goodnight." She said as she laid herself on the soft mattress and pulled the duvet over herself.

"Amore mio...(My love)." He called in a pleading tone as he also stood up and walked to the bed, and leaned down to her earlobes.

"Okay, I'm sorry. Can I at least get some sweets tonight?" He asked as he slid his hands under the duvet, reaching for her waist when she suddenly hit his hand.

"Ouch! That was painful." He grumbled rubbing his hand which was now out of the duvet.

"You'll get some sweets when your daughter gets married and starts having kids." She replied and wrapped her arms around her body tightly.

"Che cosa?!(What?!)...Ma potrebbe volerci un'eternità.(But it could take forever.)" He groaned dramatically and she smiled fondly at his antics with her back facing him.

"Ah, so you know it could take forever?" She smirked and he rolled his eyes.

"Fine, I'll start pestering her just like you do." He grumbled and she pulled away the blanket and stood up to face him.

"So can I now have some sweets?" He asked with a smirk on his face, trailing his finger on her bare shoulder to which she slapped his hand away before giving him her infamous smile.

"No sweets tonight, Fernando, we have something much more important to spend our time on." She replied, much to his disappointment.

"Arggh…fine, I'm listening." He said tiredly and she took out her phone which she had placed under her pillow, her fingers tapping and scrolling through the screen of the phone before she finally showed him a picture of a young man with light blue colored eyes wearing a tuxedo black wool grain de poudre, with his dark brown hair slicked back and a charming smile on his thin lips.

"Isn't this Alexander Cena, Owner of Xander's Jewel?" He asked and she nodded, looking very pleased with the information before handing her phone to her husband who clicked his tongue in annoyance as he looked down at the photo.

"I don't know about this, Amore mio(My love) Setting up a blind date between these two is like a recipe for disaster. You know how much Camilla dislikes him." He muttered, handing the phone back to Alessia.

"Yes, I know but look at him, he's very handsome, rich, educated, well-behaved, and most importantly, he is single. He will be the perfect match for our Bambina(Baby)." She said excitedly and he frowned at the idea.

"But she still dislikes him." He reminded and she scoffed.

"They could make cute grand babies for us, Fernando." She insisted and he laughed.

"Amore mio(My love), that's not even going to happen in a dream with that stubborn daughter of yours." He replied, shaking his head in amusement.

"Oh, it will come true...with my plan." She said with a mischievous sparkle in her eye, causing him to raise his eyebrows in confusion.

"Your plan? What plan?" He questioned but she only grinned in return.
