Diego's POV

I shut the door behind me. The clicking of my heels recedes as I pause in front of the mirror. The thrill of the previous night was still alive in my chest. The way they looked at me, admiring me and craving me. It was a gay club, but there were still men who had eyes for a pretty lady like me. Unbeknownst to them, I was a man, hiding under the pretense of a lady, a crossdresser and proud of it.

I pull off my blonde wig and let the fake lashes fall off my eyelids. As the fake strands fall away, I'm left with my natural auburn hair, wild from the hours of dancing. I let my hand slid into my hair, feeling its crispy nature on my smooth palm. I place the blonde wig back to its place on my head, admiring my looks as I stared into the mirror.

There was something exhilarating about last night. Some of the men looked like they could tear me apart, and then, there was him. I close my eyes, the memory of him hitting me like a whirlwind.

The man that sat near the bar in a place that looked like a secluded booth. I had no idea of his name. But while I danced, I stole glances at him and his eyes never left me even for a second. There was something unsettling about the way he looked at me. His eyes were dark and piercing like he was dissecting every inch of me. His hair slicked back and tied in a knot. He was older, well dressed and exuded an aura that made my heart race.

And there was that moment I threw my fingers at him, a flirty sign that he should come over. He looked at me and in a second, he turned his face away, making me feel unimportant. I guess he wasn't the type to pick interest in a woman when they are a variety of men to choose from. I hurried away from the stage, feeling slightly embarrassed.

I shake my head, trying to pull the thoughts away. It was just an eye contact, nothing more. If he had come closer, maybe I would have got the chance to slip my hands down my body, to show him more, to tease. But something told me he wasn't like the others.

I removed the rest of my makeup, leaving the wig on my head. My lipstick smudged against a tissue and I heard a knock on the door.

“Who's there?” I raise my voice, slightly irritated. I wasn't in the mood for company. The only answer I got was the continuous knocking. I turned towards the door, unlocking it with my keys. Before I can twist the doorknob, it suddenly bursts open without warning.

I can barely react before a fist slams into my stomach, knocking the air out of me. I stumbled backwards, falling against the dresser and knocking off my makeup kit. Pain shoots through my ribs and I gasp, trying to catch my breath.

They walk into my room, mischievous smiles visible on their faces. It's them again. They never leave me alone and it was worse today, I was alone with no one to save me.

“You think you're special, huh?” A voice sneered, accompanied by a kick to the chest. I groan in pain, lifting my hand in defense. But before I can try to block them, a hand connects with my face, causing me to double over and crash further into the dresser.

“Please stop,” I beg, struggling to get to my feet. They laugh at my words and one of them cups my chin roughly. I winced in pain, trying to wiggle from him, but his grip is tight, his fingers sinking into my delicate skin.

“Look at this little fairy,” one of them mocks, grabbing my wig and yanking it off my head. “You really think you're a woman.”

The quintet of bullies erupt in another laughter, cruel and mocking.

“Leave now or I'll call the cops,” I struggled to say, despite the fact that I felt intimidated by them.

My heart dropped as I felt their tough hands tearing the fabric of my dress. I try to shout, but a hand goes over my mouth, muffling my screams to nothing. They are stronger than me and my tiny punches does little in helping me.

A heavy knock descends on my head and they throw me to the floor. I'm disheveled, parts of my cloth ripped from my body. I scramble on the floor, reaching for the torn pieces as tears threaten to fall from my eyes. I can't fight them. I've never tried to. All I can do is endure.

“Dance for us,” one of them jeers, interrupting my moment of self-pity. He shoves me forward with a kick from behind. “Do your little dance, princess.”

I try to get to my feet, but my knees buckle, weak from the harassment and insults. I feel the burning sting of tears at the corner of my eyes. I refused to let them fall. I won't give them the satisfaction they craved.

“Don't be stubborn. We said dance!” The tallest of them pulls me to my feet. My fists curled into balls at my sides and I clench my jaw. I want to punch them in the face, but I lack the guts to make the move.

They circle around me like vultures and I'm left helpless in their center.

“Leave me alone,” I manage to mutter. A hand slaps me hard across the face. I staggered backwards, clutching my burning cheeks with my palm. I tasted blood at the corner of my lips.

That was the height of it. I bit one of them, sinking my teeth into his flesh. He winced in pain, pushing me off his body. I fell to the ground and all five of them descended heavily on me, kicking slapping, punching.

“How dare you!” He spat, all of them battering me in my own room. My face reddened and I struggled to breath. There was no escape route from them.

The door opened quickly, causing the men to freeze. They exchange nervous glances, scurrying out of the room and leaving me alone with the intruder.

“Get up.” The intruder commanded. “Follow me.”

My instructor was extremely impressed by the way I acted my script flawlessly.“A standing ovation for Miss Carter.” She stood up, and other students stood up, giving a round of applause.“You're meant to go places.” She smiled at me as soon as the play was done. “Are you interested in our show in Paris?”“I'm still thinking about it.” I responded with a smile.“Good. I hope to see you there.”As she left, I took a deep breath, unsure if I would be able to make that trip. Money wasn't a constraint, but time and freedom. I was stuck here doing my uncle's work, and until the mission was resolved, I couldn't leave. It was almost evening and I suspected that the children would be on their way back. Like Bruno said, I had to make sure I came back before the children returned.I clutched my bag and walked out of the training school. A red car with tinted glass seemed to be following me. I didn't give it thought as I presumed the driver was headed in the same direction as mine.I shrieked as

I woke up to the faint morning light slipping through the window, and my phone lying on my chest. I gasped as I glanced at the clock which read 6 am. I stayed up during the night, waiting for Anthony's call, but it never came. I swiped through my call logs and my fears were confirmed, he actually didn't call me.I dialed his line a couple of times, but got no response. I took a deep breath, brushing off the negative imaginations that I had about Anthony in a room with a woman.A knock sounded on my door as soon as I got out of bed. I opened it to see Bruno standing there with a transparent file in his hand.“Goodmorning Miss D…” He froze, staring at me like there was something abominable on my face. He wore a surprised look, and his brow was slightly raised.Oh shit. I cursed and slammed the door. My heart began beating at an accelerated rate. ‘How could I be so careless?’ I chided myself.I tried hard to steady my raging heartbeat as I stared at the mirror. I had taken off my wig, br

I would have minded my business and gone downstairs if the grunts didn't get louder. It sounded more like sounds of anguish. I followed the direction of the sound, taking calculated steps, so that if it was something dangerous, I could easily run away.My jaw slacked slightly as I met Vincent in the room, squirming on the floor while placing a piece of cloth over his chest. Before I could turn to leave and pretend like I never saw this, his eyes locked with mine. They weren't the calm grey eyes that I knew. They were slightly reddened as though he had been crying.“Quick. Get hel…” Before he could complete his statement, he passed out.My mind raced as I moved closer to him, pulling the cloth that was placed on his bare chest. It covered a small wound. The injury looked too small to cause so much pain. I was torn between getting help or just leaving him there to die. After all, he was my rival.“Boss, you called me, just hold on.” I heard a man say as he hurried into the room.I had s

DiegoThe twins were still on my mind till evening, especially Ted. He had been so expressive. It wasn't like I hated his sister, but he just seemed like an easier nut to crack.I dropped the empty glass that I had given Ted to drink water with in the kitchen. I decided to save Bruno the stress of washing it and just decided to wash it myself.Bruno had warned me about wandering the halls. His reason was that Vincent hates it. I decided to have a little peek outside the house, just to have a clue of where I would be spying. There wasn't much outside, except the flowers planted around, the wide space and a small bungalow by the side which I suspected belonged to the security men who manned the gate.I was about to check out the backyard when I heard a loud horn from outside the gate. A man approached and slid open the gate. Vincent parked his car and walked towards the house briskly, ignoring my greeting.Even though his movement was hurried, it didn't stop me from noticing a red stain

Vincent's POVMy grip on the steering wheel was tight, almost as if I wanted to crush it. I hit the steering a couple of times as I tried hard to control the rage brewing in my chest. My boy was angry at me. Those tantrums he threw bore into my soul. I hoped he didn't hate me the same way I hated my father while growing up. I still hated him till now.I knew I could sacrifice the whole world for my children. They were all I had. I hit the steering one more time as I recalled the incident at Pixie land. My assistant had chosen the place carefully as a place to spend quality time with the kids.Just the first night of being there, someone infiltrated our suite and tried to stab Ted with a knife. Of course Ted is a deep sleeper and was still sleeping when I dragged the man out of the room. That posed a lot of threat to my kids and I had to withdraw them instantly. If only Ted knew that I was caring for him and not being harsh and strict. We left as soon as the ugly incident occurred.I d

  • Entangled in the rival's hold    Chapter 12

“Mr. Vincent doesn't like people wandering the halls.”I paused midway as I heard Bruno's voice. I turned towards him and he had the same warm smile on his face.“Oh. I'm so sorry,” I muttered as I strolled back towards the dining table. I had already walked towards the far end of one of the corridors before Bruno interrupted.Bruno gave a satisfactory nod at my apology. “I know you may need a tour around the house, but Master Vincent hates when the workers roam about places besides their area of work.”“I totally understand,”He nodded his head the second time. I wondered if that's what he does all day. Cook, clean and smile. He was a valet and a chef.I felt like throwing more questions at Bruno. Questions that would allow me to know more about Vincent and how I can carry out my job perfectly. I stared at Bruno from over the counter, I couldn't afford to ask him directly about what Vincent normally does.“So, how is work here like?”Bruno chuckled as he heard my question. “My work i
