-AVERY-

I ROLLED AWAKE slowly. I was disoriented for the first few seconds because my surroundings were unfamiliar. Then the events of yesterday came flooding back. Dante, stalking me to my house, and how I had scooped up in Adam's penthouse.

I rubbed my eyes and yawned as I stood up to go and wash up.

When I went down for breakfast, I met Adam in the kitchen.

"I'm an early morning person," he said apologetically, handing me a hot cup of black coffee.

"Me too," I said and thanked him for the coffee.

"Did you sleep well?" He asked. "I know yesterday was eventful for you."

I nodded. "I did. I'm sorry for intruding on you and Emily's time together. She told me you had made elaborate plans to spend the weekend together."

"I did make plans," He nodded. "But she chose to be here for you. And I chose to be with her. So it's not your fault."

I sighed and took small sips from the cup.

"You look like you're going out," he said to me. "Work?"

I shook my head. "It is the weekend, and I don't have

NADIA WAS HALF expecting Konstantin to show up any moment, so when he finally did, she was not really surprised. He barged into the house. All the guards in the mansion already knew him, so he was not restricted at all. He entered Nadia's room without knocking. His face was red, and his tattooed head was gleaming under the lights."What is this I am hearing?" He growled."What did you hear?" Nadia asked, not bothering to get out of bed."I heard you had something to do with that Mancini bastard!" Konstantin said. His breaths were coming out in heavy puffs."Adriano and I were lovers," Nadia said. She hid her alarm very well. "Years ago. Many years ago, before he went to America and became a self renowned businessman."Konstantin looked at her. His small eyes glinted and shone in anger and disbelief."Where did you hear what you heard?" Nadia asked nonchalantly. She wanted to know where he had heard the "rumor," so she would know who had betrayed her."Where is heard it doesn't fucking

DMITRI WATCHED WITH an unlit cigarette in his mouth. The doctor looked more beautiful in real life than her photos. It had taken him a little bit of problem to locate her. It was like she knew what was coming if she remained in her apartment, so she had moved away. But she had not moved to any place that was easy to locate. In fact, the house was not in her name. It was under the name of someone who bore no connection to Avery. A 13 year old, and the house looked like it.It looked like a house it was straight out of the coloring book of a child. And it was located in a local town. He was a distance away, watching through some binoculars. He put it down, looking around. The place was some miles away from the big city.Maybe she came here to relieve stress. He tried lighting the cigarette, but his lighter was faulty, so he tossed it into the grass and put the cigarette into the pack. He watched from a distance as the car in front of the doctor's house drove away.So she still got visit

AVERYIRIS LOOKED UP at me as I came in. Her eyes were wide, asking questions but also just happy that I was here. I sat down beside her and leaned in, "What are you reading?"She shrugged and pushed the book aside."You don't like reading?" I asked. "I do," she said, scrunching up her nose. "But this book is too big. And it doesn't have good pictures."Chuckling softly, I closed the book and placed it on the shelf. "How was school today?" I asked."Fine, I guess," she said, spinning around to watch as I poured her a cup of lemonade. "We had to take a spelling test.""Were you prepared?" I asked. With what Enso told me about Adriano, I doubt he would have had the time to help her prepare for the test, so I was slightly surprised when she nodded, her pigtails bouncing."Miss Beatrice helped me every night before I went to bed," she explained as I placed the cup on the table."Beatrice?" I asked, smiling.Iris nodded. "She gave me things to spell and made sure I got it right. She is a

AVERYIT HAS BEEN a few days since Kelvin came for his appointment. The heart tug i felt for Jean Carter had receeded back to the void where it belonged, and I was grateful. I found myself watching the garden and taking care of the sprouting leaves and flowers.Jean was right. Gardening was therapeutic, and for a therapist like me that hardly got anyone to talk to, I found myself speaking in low tones to the new plants as they came to life. I watered and shaded them from the sun. I was not an expert, but what I did was working because they grew very well.I decided that it was time for me to begin to take in some new clients. It had been only Kelvin i redirected to this place, but maybe it was time to open for more. Maybe as the days went on, and I healed more, I would eventually move back to my office even though I was enjoying this house and the environment a lot.I went through my work email, making notes on the clients that I would invite to this place. I was just 2 more people. I

"DOCTOR AVERY QUINN," Dmitri said under his breath. Yep, that was the same woman."The bitch," clarance snarled. "She disappeared some weeks ago, it think she relocated but no one knows where. I want you to find her, and then... do your job."Dmitri kept his face bland and emotionless. He nodded, "Tracking will cost an extra fee." He said."Do you think money is an issue?" Clarance snarled. "I just want it done, and quickly.""Is there a time frame?" Dmitri asked. "That will add an extra fee too. I like to do things at my pace.""I do not care, just have it all done before 2 weeks," Clarance replied.Dmitri thought of any other excuse that he could use to defer the job because it was a conflict of his interest. But the more he thought about it, the more he figured that it would be better for him to take the job if he wanted to have any chance of resolving this."Well, what do you say?" Clarance asked. "You are already here. You can not fly all the way from Russia, and then reject the

THE NEXT DAY, Clarance reached for her phone as soon as she woke up. As expected, there was an address from an unknown number. She was suddenly in a good mood as she got out of bed. She had a long warm bath. When she came out, Martin was awake. He had come in the night after Clarance was asleep, and he hadn't touched her. He looked at her with a suspicious frown on his face. "Where are you going?" He asked. Whenever Clarance was happy like this, it meant she was not up to any good."I have an appointment this morning," She replied, drying her hair in front of the mirror."An appointment," he repeated. "Which appointment?""Since when did you start monitoring my movement, Martin?" Clarance asked. "I said I have an appointment, just take my word for it and trust me, okay?" She leaned in and kissed his cheek before walking to the room that housed her clothes.Martin was still very suspicious. He had been with Clarance long enough to know when she was up to no good, and this was one of su
