ARIA

The alarm rang, dragging me out of a fitful sleep. I rolled over, squinting at the bright digits, and groaned. My stomach twisted unpleasantly, reminding me of last night’s regrettable choice. Never, ever — not even for Mr. Grey — should I have eaten something so unhealthy. I’d woken up more times than I could count, running back and forth to the bathroom.

Dragging myself upright, I clutched my stomach, wincing, and shuffled to the bathroom. My reflection in the mirror was… a mess. Hair sticking out at impossible angles, eyes half-lidded, skin blotchy from restless sleep. I brushed my teeth and splashed my face with cold water, hoping some of the fog would lift.

Shower done, I dressed quickly. I settled on a black leather pencil skirt with a sharp front slit, paired with a brown sleeveless turtleneck and black boots. A slim belt cinched it all together. Looking at my reflection, I paused. The clothes fit perfectly. The first time I was hear, the clothes were all slightly bigger.

ARIA Brother? I blinked looking around probably to look for her relation when she headed straight towards our table."What an introduction, with a head" Knox said"Come on that's not the right words to welcome your sister”I blinked at the duo as I noticed the resemblance in their eyes. "No hugs? No dramatic gasps? I’m hurt," she said touching her chest with her free hand"This is a pack dinner and–”“So how else would I arrive, Alpha, if not memorably? Grand entrances are my love language.”I heard a few wolves choke before they returned to their feast."What a nuisance! Who in the name of the moon Goddess arrives like that with a pack dinner?” Mason said with a scoff but the young lady ignored him.“Leons" Knox called exhaling through his nose."Knox" she grins, putting the head away on a platter and omega was holding before sitting.Leona's gaze slides before finally landing on me. Her brows lifted slightly "You must be her"Huh?"The infamous human mate of my brother. She said sh

ARIAI shifted closer to the source of heat only to be met with a hard surface. Not like I cared because I was loving the heat.Suddenly, I felt the surface moving. Huh? I felt something soothing on my shoulders, exactly where I had been bitten and marked. I meowed loving the feel.“You’re awake” Knox voice made me open my eyes to come in contact with a pair of gray ones looking down at me.Heat creapt up my cheek as reality dawned on me as I instinctively shifted backwards. A reaction I regretted cause I missed the feel of his body. I let my eyes roam anywhere but him.I could feel his palm caressing the mark and the pain, I must say, had reduced greatly. I barely felt it.“How are you feeling?”“Much better” I replied, finally meeting his gaze.“Let’s go eat” He said while standing up the bed.“But I had eaten before falling asleep” I uttered, though I wouldn't mind filling my stomach to the brim.“You’ve been asleep for quite a while and besides, it's time for dinner in the pack ho

ARIAKnox didn’t say a word the entire walk back to the house. He just carried me silently in a bridal style while I cling to him weakly. He pushed open the bedroom door and carried me inside. Then he laid me slowly and carefully on the bed. “K…Knox?” My voice cracked in an attempt to break the silence. He slowly looked at me with… ‘Is that pain or regret in his eyes’ I thought. If it was the later, then it wasn't directed at me as I could feel him through the bond.He scanned me with his eyes and then wiggled his left hand. It turned to paw with fur and claws.I held my breath, trying to think of what he was doing as he dragged it across his right palm, slicing skin open. Blood welled instantly. My eyes flew wide. “W..wait, what are you—”“Drink,” he said, as he took his right palm towards my mouth. I wanted to argue but I remembered when Celina kidnapped me and Knox cutting his palm and forcing his blood into my mouth to save me. I remembered how that had healed my body.I swallo

ARIAI didn’t know how long I had been running. My feet hit the ground in uneven thuds as every step felt heavier than the last. Sweat slid into my eyes and stung as I wiped it with the back of my shaky hand.“Just… keep going,” I muttered to myself, though my voice sounded like gravel.‘But where should I go? I don't even have any sense of direction’ I thought. My legs wobbled, making me miss a step and stumbled, as my knee hit a rock. “Ah!”A small cry slipped out. I pushed up anyway with my arms trembling beneath me, even though my muscles were craving to lie on the ground.I kept up my pace tiredly and soon a branch scraped my arm. “Ow!” I hissed, yanking myself away as a burning sting bloomed across my skin.My vision went fuzzy again. I blinked rapidly, but everything swayed like the whole forest was turning.‘Don’t stop. Not yet. At least not here.’ I sang in my head as I dragged myself forward. I noticed some shapes ahead. I blinked to see the figures clearly. ‘Was I finally

ARIAHeat, fire was all I could feel before I even opened my eyes… as well as the throb under my clothes spreading through my chest and shoulder. My skin felt like it was burning from the inside out. My fingers gripped the sheets, with my knees pressed against the floor. My head throbbed, my chest throbbed and the mark throbbed.Knox hadn’t been here for three days. Three long, silent and torturous days. I could feel his absence, and it pressed into me harder than the fever did. I could almost hear the echoes of his voice in my mind calling to me, but there was nothing. Just my imagination.Pain and guilt twisted together in my chest, as I pressed my hand to the mark. I wanted him. I wanted him near me. I wanted him to tell me it was okay, tell me he wasn’t mad. But he wasn’t.My chest ached. My throat ached. My heart… my heart felt hollow. He hates me.Of course he does.I should’ve told him sooner. I should’ve… shouldn’t have hidden it. Maybe if I hadn’t… this wouldn’t be happening.

KNOX Pain has a strange way of arriving. Sometimes it doesn’t crash into you… it just lay there like someone placed a stone on your chest when you weren’t looking. And when you finally notice it, it’s already too late. That was exactly what happened when I lifted my head from that file and met Aria’s eyes. And all I could think was how the hell didn’t I see this? How did I touch her… want her… mark her... mark her without knowing the blood she carried?‘Mate,’ Fenris whispered from somewhere deep inside me desperately. Mate is hurting…My jaw locked. My teeth ground together so hard it hurt. Mate. That word felt like a slap in the face. A joke.No.She’s... gawd... she’s a Crescent Hunter.Fenris whined, She’s ours. She’s not them…But even his voice trembled like he wasn’t sure anymore. My chest tightened. Every memory I had of Crescent Hunters began with blood and ended with bodies. Her people were the monster under the bed my pack had never been able to chase away.Aria sat on the
