Chapter 7

*** Before and during their meeting with Jack*****

Angelina's pov

It was a bit hard convincing Lucy to meet Jack. It even led to a disagreement.

I cried all through the night after our argument. The silent treatment was killing me. I hoped she understood what I was trying to do.

I know that I have done many bad things in the past and I don't want her to find out because if she does, it may destroy our relationship.

 I don't think I will ever forgive myself if she finds out.

Even though it was very hard to make that decision for her but I had to because of my selfish interest and I didn't want Jack to tell her what I have been trying to avoid ever since she started calling me mom.

Talking about Jack, we have a history together and I don't know why he was suddenly interested in Lucy's life because he was the person that wanted to put her up for adoption and I vowed to find out why before things get out of hand.

I gave her all the time to dress up after forcing her out of bed that morning.

When we got to our destination, I noticed that she was nervous and tried calming her down by cracking some jokes but as usual she didn't respond but deep down, I knew that she was relieved a little.

I walked into the restaurant with her trailing behind.  

I sighted Jack at the far end of the restaurant and walked towards him. After settling down and introducing both of them, I was a bit surprised at the attitude Lucy started displaying towards Jack.

I tried calming her down by holding her hands and stepping on her foot to behave but each time she pretended that nothing was going on under the table and continued throwing questions at Jack.

I looked at Jack to see his reactions and I saw pity in his eyes and I knew that if I don't act, I will lose everything in the twinkle of an eye.

I was interrupted by Lucy standing up to walk out on us and I had no other choice than to rebuke her with a high pitch which attracted attention to our table. I was a bit surprised when she listened and sat down.

Jack can I talk to you outside I said while standing up and walking out with Jack following behind.

 What the hell was all that about? I saw the look on your face, you were about to say things which you shouldn't. Why are you here in the first place? I can remember you washing off your hands from anything concerning that girl and suddenly you appear from nowhere and threaten to expose me if I don't introduce you to her as her father. What the hell is happening? I asked

"I came to help you raise the girl," he replied

and who told you I can't do that?. I have been staying with her for fourteen years now and you think I don't know how to raise a child. I said

" What I saw inside there says otherwise" he replied

" Why are you doing this?" I asked

" Did you see that girl's face when she asked me those questions? Do you even have a heart? oops! I forgot you don't have one because if you do you would have at least told her something about your past", he said

And you think it's as easy as you are saying it. why don't you put yourself in my shoes and stop causing unnecessary problems for me? I said

" Instead of quelling, I think we should be thinking of how to convince her about me being her dad" he replied

Shit!! what have I gotten myself into I said to myself

Fine! what should we do? I asked him

Ehmm before I suggest anything, does she have any problem with her classmates in school? he asked

Yes, she once had and I have revolved the issue I replied

 " I don't think you did because someone is trying to get on her nerves," he said while looking through the transparent walls in her direction.

What!!!

" Don't worry dear, I know what to do," he said while walking back into the restaurant and I followed after him.
