EVA'S POV
I watched in wonder as he turned into a beam of golden light in one moment and was standing close to us in the next.
Loud gasps filled the room, and everyone bowed their heads. I could see the king’s features clearly now that he was standing close to me.
I couldn’t help but note an uncanny resemblance between him and Alex. Was he related to Alex in some way, or was this a mere coincidence?
Displeasure was eviden
ALEX'S POVI felt so frustrated the moment he called himself my father. Where was he all this while? Where was he when my mother was lying in the hospital? The knowledge that he had abandoned my mother tore me from the inside. I could forgive him for leaving me, but how could I forgive him for deserting my mother; that too when she needed him the most. If he was a normal human being, I could still understand. But, he was a powerful Golden Shifter, someone who is supposed to have immense power. Then, why was my mother left to die alone in the hospital? Couldn’t he have cured her with his powers?
EVA'S POVI let out a sigh and got up. Now, we would have to walk through those winding passages again. Just a few minutes ago, I was feeling exhausted, but now I felt light and happy. Perhaps it was the effect of Alex’s powers. It was so ironic. Wasn’t it just the last year when Alex had absorbed some of my powers, and I had to guard him so that we could hide his ability from him? And, now, I am the one who has to be careful of his powers. It felt like the roles had reversed. It wasn’t such a bad thing. I wouldn’t have
ALEX'S POVI didn’t feel like leaving Eva alone, but she was already tired. Her legs would ache if she had to keep walking through the passages. It wasn’t convenient for me to carry her either. It seemed a bit awkward to carry Eva while Victoria walked. Moreover, it was the King’s order. I still had to figure things out and didn’t want to piss me off, at least not yet. I slowly extracted my arm from Victoria’s hold, trying extra careful not to seem rude. I decided to make the most of the situation by gett
EVA'S POV“Come and sit, Eva.” Alex’s father said, motioning to a chair beside him. My legs shook slightly as I walked to the chair near him. God, why did this table have to be so long? I left a few chairs in between and sat across him. “Eva, I want to talk about something important.”“Yes.”
THIRD PERSON’S POVMr. Frosco dragged Victoria to her room and shut the door quickly. He gripped her by the shoulders and lifted her chin so that she was looking straight into his eyes.“What do you think you were doing, Victoria?” His voice boomed in the room.
EVA'S POVI was falling freely and was about to hit the ground. I clutched my belly tightly, hoping that at least my baby would be saved. I waited for the hit, the impact, the pain. Instead, I felt like I had landed on a warm, soft cloud. I looked down to see that I was mere inches from the ground. I was lying on what seemed like a cloud of golden light. I got up and landed on the floor. My jaws hit the ground when I saw that cloud of light transform into Alex right before my eyes.
ALEX'S POVFor some reason, I felt irked by Eva’s question. I didn’t like the fact that she was confronting Victoria. Shouldn’t it be the reverse?Victoria looked around for a few seconds. She was a bit flustered at being questioned. I was about to say something in her defense, but Victoria started speaking. “I had just gone for a stroll by the waterfall when I could sense the blazing forests on the other side of the waterfall.
ALEX'S POVMy room detection power seemed to be working again. I could sense the direction of the dining hall. I noticed subtle changes as I walked through the corridors. The ambiance had turned several shades darker. That must be their way of indicating the time to rest. I sucked in my breath when I entered the dining room. It was large and could accommodate at least 300 people.
