“ Get out!” My voice thundered against the wall, while I waited for her to stomp off, I had seen her. Nina stood there and oddly, at that moment when I thought that I didn't love her, that it was going to be fine if I hurt her, my heart had thumped harder, and I felt bad at the betrayal. Dezreel’s face contorted into a frown as she clawed her nails to me, holding my wrist. “What are you talking about?” She frowned. “ You know what you promised my grandfather, that you were going to give him a grandchild soon, that was your end of the bargain, so why exactly aren't you keeping it?” I stalked to the window, the dark slamming back into me, while I wondered what Nina would be doing right now. Would she be asleep? On the couch, like she had been for years now? Would she be waiting at home for me to give her an explanation? My little fluffy bear. I thought it was gone, I thought staying away was going to kill whatever emotions I had for her, but I just couldn't do it. It was a deal, a bargain, and I had to see it through. When Dezreel's hands wrapped themselves around my waist, I squeezed my eyes shut, fist clenched while I tried not to shove her away. She would report to her grandfather and everything I had done so far would go down the drain, this was a little price to pay for what I wanted. I could do it. I didn't know what Nina was going to say, or how she was going to feel about the publication on the TV, but I knew that she needed something strong, something to kill the love she had for me. I knew that I wasn't supposed to keep the secret from her, I shouldn't, I wasn't supposed to, but I couldn't help it. Love could be found with someone else, and I could build my company to how I wanted it. Love wasn't going to make me powerful, it only made me weak. “ You should leave. I have made the announcement today and everyone knows about it already, and that is pertaining to your father also, so leave” I peeled off her hands off my waist, fastening the belt around my waist while I sauntered to the edge of the table when her voice came through. “ Where are you going? To that woman, you call a wife? You made an agreement with me, and you can't break it right now!” She raged. I turned around on my heels, rage coating through me as I swirled around, pinning her against the wall with a hand around her neck. “ Haven't I done what you wanted? What you and your father wanted? I have made the announcement, everyone knows. She will sign the papers, and you will get it soon. So get out” It was aimed to get her to shake in fear but when she rolled her tongue on her lips, eyes closed again. I shoved her off my office, storming off, until I couldn't hear her voice anymore. The first sight that greeted me when I walked in was the dinner, cold and stale and no one on the couch. My heart raced while I walked toward it, a dainty note leaning against one of the covered dishes. From Nina. ‘I have something to tell you, a surprise you would love to hear, happy anniversary’ My heart plummeted so fast that I stormed in, searching for her. She wasn't on the couch like always, waiting for me. She wasn't anywhere to be found, and today had been our anniversary, the day that we got married. Our fifth anniversary. “ Gladys…. Gladys, “my head swarmed with thoughts while I meandered to the kitchen where the housekeeper had her back turned to me. A sullen look on her face. “Where is my wife?” I asked, my eyes searching all about as I waited for her to give me an answer, she didn't move an inch from where she stood before directing my gaze to the ring I had given her. That shone even brighter than before. I stood, not moving an inch, wanting this to be false. “ Who owns that ring?” I asked, in denial, it couldn't have been hers. Nina would never walk away without her ring, she would never leave it for me to find this way, but when my hands grasped the cold steel, the stone on it illuminating my eyes. I knew it was hers. “ Where is she? Where. Is. She?!” I wrapped a hand around her neck, yanking her up. “ A helicopter, a helicopter, took her away,” she answered. I placed her down, trying to think. A helicopter, a helicopter, there ought to be just someone I knew who had one. Richard. Would Richard side with Nina over me? His friend? His best friend? Would he do such a thing? My feet swept through the room, my eyes glazing through as I yanked the door open, papers flung across the room, ones that caught my eyes and when I picked the divorce paper up, I shook my head. She had fucking signed it. I knew…I knew…that I wanted this, but I didn't want her gone, not from my life. I sank to the ground, my eyes sweeping around when I saw something crumpled against the door. A paper that had been crumpled into a ball. Pulling open the ruffled part, a chim erupted in my head while I burst out into cackles. “Hahaha. You are a mess, Ryan. She was fucking pregnant, that was the surprise she had intended to tell me”. I broke into a race, sliding into the Porsche while I navigated through the city, I had to get her back. Tell her I was sorry and be a better father for our kids and a better husband for her as well. I killed the engine in front of Richard's house, the white mansion springing into view while I tapped at the door earnestly. The door cranked open, revealing Reina, who stood at the door. “ Nina, where is she? I know that you are holding her in here, please…please ask her to come out. I need to speak with her.” Reina's face was a sea of disbelief as she leaned closer. “What are you talking about?” I leaned back, watching her closely, but I knew that was an act. “ I need my pregnant wife, don't tell me you are going to keep her away from me right now.” A voice rang from inside. “ I hope you didn't just talk to my wife that way?” Richard stood beside her. Grateful at his appearance, I tried to walk in when he pushed me back. “ You messed up, don't come into my house.” he said to me. I nodded. I knew that I had. “ I know… I know, but give me the chance to talk to Nina, to explain things and I will never go back on my word.” Reina fidgeted, staring at me. “ What are you talking about? We dropped her off at your company, what are you talking about right now!” I ran a hand through my hair, a scumbag that's what I was. “ The housekeeper said a helicopter took her from the house and I thought you both were the one. Richard… Richard '' I stared at him. Disgust ran over his face, he was disgusted at me. “ You have one, so I thought you did, and I came straight away for you to hand her over.” I panted heavily while explaining. “Reina isn't here,” he announced and my world darkened. “ I made a mistake and I thought you would learn from it, but it seemed you didn't.” I shook my head, headache splinting through. “ You won't understand, I had to do it. I had to do it. It was necessary” His hands shoved me against the wall. “Whatever you did was at the detriment of her happiness, you hurt her and you broke your promises. We are no longer friends, Ryan. I don't want you close to me”. His hands loosened around my neck while his door shut to my face. Slipping on the ground, I yelled out as my knees kissed the ground. “ I will find you, Nina. I will, no matter how long it will take. I will get you back.” I swore.Ryan's POV “You can opt out. It isn't compulsory that you do it, if you aren't fine with it” I explained to Nina who was by my side. If I was asked to explain the thoughts that had besieged my head while I laid there, it would have been that of her and our kids, I couldn't just take it. When I sat, back against the wall, a burnt that would always serve as a memory of what had been done. I thought of Nina, her tears and how uncomfortable they made me. How I didn't want her crying at all, I didn't want that beautiful face of hers tainted with tears, no one deserved that, not even me. When she pulled away, saying to Richard, I couldn't help but watch. “ I am ready to do so now. I will address them all, as his wife.”“ I don't want you in there, Nina,” I insisted. “ You will be their target, they will want to hunt you down, I don't want you getting hurt” I reached out for her, a hand stretched out at her, one I waited for her to accept, but she didn't. “ I will do it,” she insisted
Nina's POV That ache in me worsened shortly after Ryan had left, and I couldn't bring myself to do anything, no matter how hard I tried to, I could feel it, like it was tearing me down. My gaze swept across the room, while I stared at Gladys, who was trying to talk to the kids. They were listening just fine, attentively if I was asked to put a tag over it and I didn't know what was wrong. I was supposed to be okay, celebrating also, but I couldn't bring myself to, not with Rivolty out there, and we didn't know what else he was capable of doing. The sound of my phone ringing blazed through the air, tearing everything in me apart while I stumbled across to place it over my ear. I dragged in a breath, my brows knitted when I saw who the caller was. “Yes, Reina, good morning” my hands weaved through my hair, while I tried to mask my earlier thoughts. Her voice came through, cranky at first, but I could hear everything later on. “ Hey,” she said. “ Are you free now? I am downstair
Ryan's POV The Rivolty. The name sounded just like ash when I pronounced it in my lips. It didn't dawn on well with me. I wasn't concerned about whatever it was that they would do, but they played dirty and by dirty, I meant in every single way. They didn't care whatever it was that they were going to do as long as they won the case. I have had a case with them, but it just wasn't okay, although I had won, but it was just by a whim, and they had sworn to make sure it would be my end if anything else happens that would bring us together. Everyone worked with dirt but when your opponent works with blood and dirt, you were bound to be careful and that was the way I was with them. They left a bad name wherever they went. “ Are you sure?” I didn't know my hands were shivering until I felt a hand gripped mine so tight that it stumbled on me that I was. Nina was by my side, and she must have learned that or rather felt my distress because her hands wrapped mine so tight that I could fe
Nina's POV It seemed my ass had glued to the chair at the word that I had just been told. The vault. It was what I know as the paragon of wisdom. What Ryan had said was the reason he had messed up at first, and I didn't know if I were to be glad about it, that he was showing it to me. My hands circled my laps until I was sure that my blood was flowing just right. His hands on my legs, jolted me out while I stared at him. “ You don't have to worry about it. It will be fine.” I wanted to ask if he felt it was worth cheating at first, but I knew that I had to get that away from us at some point. I had to forget that he had hurt me and even though it would hurt, I had made up my mind that I didn't want anyone else so it was the little that I could do. My head swarmed with thoughts besieging it when he drove, slanted out of the usual route we would have taken down a narrow road. I wanted to question him, but this must be the way to vault. His secret paragon of knowledge. When he st
Ryan's POV I watched as she slept off on my chest, snuggling even closer while we took off.I didn't know if I had exhausted her or if it was because of the couple she had talked to not too long ago, but watching her sleep was becoming my new favorite thing to do. I scooped her in my arms, walking in as I placed her on the bed before stepping out. She let out words before going off to sleep. I had watched her warn off that woman and I couldn't stop myself from grinning whenever she called me hers. I loved it when she placed a tag over me. Calling me hers and no one else. I pictured her face vexed when she was told that all she had said was a lie. Picking up my iPad, I swiped on it, running through the work that awaited me. Telling her that I was going to take a break this week was real, but now seeing the pile of work that awaited me made me want to work a bit. Just something to get the mountain of work off my back. Furthermore, there was also my new mega project, which was get
Nina’s POV Hmmph, watch who? She had the nerves to watch us. What happened to her man? What happened to her man fucking her? Or his dick wouldn't just rise for her? I would rather not say a word, didn't want to say any because it would only piss me off even further than it already did. “ Nina, you can't let whatever she just sent get across to you. We shouldn't pay her any heed.” I stopped to take a glance at Ryan. “ What do you want to stay here for? To fuck her? Let me guess, I am not enough for you?” He stopped. “ You know this wasn't what I expected when I said we should come here. I didn't expect that she would be here.”“ That is why you are going to pack up, and we will leave right away.” I explained. “I did nothing wrong by wanting you to myself, but it seems that isn't going to happen” I was already up the stairs when he stopped me. “You know no one else will ever come close, I just wanted you to be home with me and…” “ We will continue this at home. The kids can stay
Ryan's POV “ You have to get them all out, out of my hair” she fumed at me, her eyes flickering open with each minute that passed. I stood beside her, my hands weaved through her hair while I tried to get rid of every little particle of sand left in it.I didn't know what else to do because right
Nina's POV When I finally forced myself up, trying to contemplate if what I had just encountered was a dream. Ryan was nowhere to be found. I could have almost sworn that all that I had felt was real, and it wasn't a dream, but the room devoid of his presence gave me the answer that it was indeed
Ryan's POV My hands stroked the side of her hair so gently as a smile cascaded my face. I watched her chest heaved gently before she nudged into my arms, seeking comfort in it. I knew perhaps she was sore, but I just couldn't get enough of it. When she had given me the go ahead this morning for m
Nina's POV My face palmed against the couch when he drove in, squeezing all of my essence as his breath assaulted my ears. I leaned forward, wanting anything to hold, to grasp, but there was none. I squeezed my hands on the couch, digging my nails in when he pulled out before slamming in with so
