LOGIN“Yes, you have to. The mate bond deserves that respect in the least. If you want to reject me, do it looking me in my eyes.” I had no idea how he moved so fast — probably courtesy of his Alpha abilities — but he stood before me. His fingers lifted my chin so my eyes could meet his gaze. “Reject me by looking me in the eye.” His eyes searched my face. I shook my head as I struggled to hold back tears. He pinned me on both sides, my eyes widened in slight fear when I saw the frustration and anger. “Reject this!” He growled before slamming his lips into mine. Scarlett Melton was moved from her old pack by her stepfather who moved to Stone Shadow pack to find the family he abandoned a long time ago. Being a weak Omega with a health condition who has been bullied, abused and insulted all her life, she does not expect to be mated to the first son of the most powerful Alpha who’s also her stepsister’s brother-in-law. She is happy about the bond but her manipulative stepfather has other plans and now, she has to give Baron Salvatore a good reason why she rejected their mate bond even when her heart and eyes are saying otherwise.

“W-what are you doing h-here, Ben?” Blood had drained from mom’s face. I looked at the man who just entered. “What is happening, mom? What is it?” I had to ask. I glanced at the boys, especially Aaron, everyone was paying attention to what was happening right that moment. Someone else followed behind and before I could see who it was, I heard… “Mate!” I turned to see Baron growl out those words and when I looked at the door again, it was a girl who was almost same age as I was. Her wolf’s eyes flashed as well as soon as she stepped in, her gaze quickly picked Baron from amongst us. Slowly, they walked to each other. “Well, well, well… Who would have thought?” This man who mom had called Ben raised a surprised brow as his gaze latched on Baron and this girl moving towards each other. “Wait, I don’t understand a thing going on right now.” Dad said, his eyes on mom. “Who is this man, Elizabeth?” The man’s gaze tore away from these mated duo and landed on me. He looked at mom, then at me. When he faced mom again, he asked. “Is this her?” Speechlessly confused, I stared at them both. “Do you know me, mister?” A small frown appeared on his forehead. “You didn’t tell her.” “Why are you here, Ben? What are you doing here after so many years?” Mom was stricken with disbelief and some kind of root-deep pain clouded her gaze as her tone went from shock to being accusatory. “What do you mean what am I doing here? Don’t I have the right to come see my family?” This man called Ben retorted, an annoyance growing in his voice. “Family?!” I could not believe my ears. “Family?” Dad’s expression was plainly showing his confusion. “Can someone explain something and stop with the drama?!” Aaron impatiently spoke. Silence ensued, it was deafening as we all waited for either this strange man or mom to talk. Especially mom. She looked like she was about to cry and would rather be anywhere than where she was right this moment. She blinked her eyes, I could suspect she struggling with tears. She went to take a seat on one of the sofas. As though on cue, we all followed her. Lucas sat beside her, ready to be supportive. I loved him for that but right now, I needed to know what was happening and why this man was talking about family. Trenton, Aaron, Zach and me all occupied a long sofa. Dad took his sit beside mom. I saw Zach drag Baron away from the strange girl and had him sit with us. Baron gave him an annoyed look but sat with us nonetheless. On another day, another time and atmosphere, it would have been laugh-worthy. But now, it was not. There were lots of things to discuss, like for instance, why this man would not stop staring at me as though he couldn’t believe I exist. “Katherina.” Mom raised her sad eyes to meet mine. I didn’t like the way my heart skipped when she called me in that tone. I almost didn’t want to answer her. In fact, I wanted to chase these new people out of the house and let things go back the way they used to be. But that would be considered the irrational, coward’s way out, so I responded. “Yes, mom.” “Ben here is your father.” “What?!” My voice mixed with others in the room to exclaim in shock. “You said your dad is dead.” Aaron looked at me. “That’s what she told me.” I replied. “Elizabeth, what’s going on? You told me you only have a daughter. No other family.” Dad was in disbelief and hugely surprised. “Katherina is my only family, no matter what is happening or who has decided to come into the picture.” Elizabeth replied reassuringly. “But you just said…” “I know what I said, David. Ben here is her father and it’s up to Katherina to do whatever she wants with that information. As for me, I already have a family I love and adore, I don’t need anyone else.” Mom’s tone was getting firmer by the minute. “He’s your…” “He’s nothing to me!” Mom lashed out on Dad. “You hear me, David, he’s nothing to me! You’re my husband, these boys are my sons and Katherina here is my daughter. You guys are the family I have.” David kept shut, studying mom. “You can’t say that, Elize.” This man began. “I’m still…” “One more word from you, Ben, I will have you thrown out. You’re nothing to me! You hear that? Read my lips Ben, you do not exist me! You stopped existing the day you…” Mom swallowed the rest of her words. A tear escaped. “Get out.” She ordered in a low yet chilling tone. “I’m here for you and our daughter. I’m going nowhere.” This Ben insisted stubbornly. Angrily, mom stood on her feet. “I said get your pathetic ass up from that seat and get the hell out of here! Guards!” She screamed when he was proving stubborn. I was dumbstruck. Speechless. Not knowing what to say. Two guards came running into the general living room. “Yes, Luna.” They bowed. “Get this man out of this place and don’t ever let him in.” Then she swiped at her tears and made to leave. This Ben of a guy tried to hold her back before the guards could get to him. He received a punch. It was Lucas, he was angry. “Don’t ever touch her.” Mom had seen him throw the punch. She got emotional and hugged Lucas who was taller than her. He hugged her back. “Thank you, darling.” “This is not over yet, Elizabeth. I’ll do anything to have you back.” He yelled as he was being dragged away. The girl who had come with him gave me a strange look, then stared at Baron briefly before following them out. I stared at mom, watched Lucas console her as my emotions were in turmoil. I could not help but ask. “Why did you tell me he was dead?”SCARLETT Enisa was even fun to be with than I thought. She made the class less boring, cracking jokes and performing a mimicry of the lecturer’s pattern of speech in low tones.Even Katherine couldn’t help chuckling at the solo performance. Students let out relieved sighs and groans once the bell rang for lunch. I helped Katherine gather her books and carried her bag. “Sure you can carry both our bags?”“Of course. You don’t need to stress much given your condition.” Katherine eye rolled, but there was smile in her eyes. “I’m pregnant, Scarlett, not handicapped.”“No shade to pregnancy and pregnant women, including you Katherine, but I think pregnancy should be classified under temporary disability, until the woman gives birth.” Enisa commented, carrying her own bag. “Disabled people aren’t allowed to do some certain kind of activities because of their condition. Same goes for pregnant women. I heard doing little things like wearing your own shoes or bending to pick stuff from th
ENISAI drove into the school compound, parking in the garage meant for the students. I climbed out, with my school bag slung on a shoulder, watching as the Salvatores made their grand entrance into the compound and wheeling into the garage built specifically for them. Aaron and his mate who was also a second year student and pregnant came out of their car. She was the only student who’d gotten pregnant and not received backlash from fellow students and snide remarks from lecturers. No one would dare insult the mate of a Salvatore. The rest of the Salvatore brothers all emerged from their individual cars greatly envied by students and lecturers alike. Then I saw him — Baron Salvatore. Aaron’s twin brother and considered the bad boy of the family. Complicated, headstrong, mysterious. But no one could deny his attractive features. He was tall and built — just like all the Salvatore brothers — with a powerful presence only an Alpha wolf could possess. Honestly, no male in the Sal
SCARLETT My ears perked, but I still didn’t turn to meet his gaze. We were too close. His breath fanned my nape, erupting desires. But I had to remember I was mad at him. For his question, I didn’t say a word. If he wanted to talk, let him. But I was hoping he would. “You’re not saying anything.” He spoke again. This time, his hands were caressing every part of my body. My stomach pinched harder in lust, I gulped, fighting it. I even tried to move away from his scent and block body contact, he only held me firmer. His hand roved and strayed. Ailya perked in my head, responding to the every touch of our mate. By the time he turned me to face him, I was a hot mess, silently seeking for more of what he could offer. “I love you, Scarlett.” His voice was low and husky. “I mean it.”Then he captured my mouth. Heat exploded and coursed through every part of me. The next couple of minutes were full of urgent needs and kisses and mate bonds arresting us both to surrender. Anger dissi
SCARLETT “Baby, please, open up. I’m sorry.” It was past midnight and he was still at my door, banging loudly and begging to be let in.I’d cried to the point where I was exhausted. My eyes were red and puffy, they were hot too. My head throbbed badly, I felt a bit feverish. I was currently lying under a thick duvet. My nose was a bit congested. I wanted to call Katherine…no, it was too late. Moreover, I’d dropped my phone in his room. Breathing was a becoming a little difficult, so I had my pump close to me, just in case I needed it. Trisha. That was her name. The name of the girl he couldn’t forget.I could understand what it felt like to lose one’s mate. I didn’t know what I’d do if anything fatal should happen to Baron, regardless of his attitude, the mate bond was that strong. But did it mean I wasn’t enough? And that when he’d said second chance mate, I was just replacement for the real girl he wanted? Loving me because of the mate bond was unfair. It meant that without
BENThat stupid bastard! He was going to pay for what he had put me through. All of them, every one of the Salvatores would regret crossing paths with me. Only I knew this was a job I wouldn’t be able to finish myself. I needed help. The only way to deal with an Alpha was to involve another Alph
My jaw dropped open in shock. Tears ceased immediately. How…how did he get here? “You dare lay your finger on my mate?!” Baron lunged forward with another brutal kick as Ben was struggling to stand. The latter was currently bleeding from his head and nose.Baron pulled him up by his shirt, raised
SCARLETT The whole room was looking at me. They were waiting for my explanation. Patiently waiting for me to talk. It was later that night. The doctor had come to check on me again and had advised to not let me sit on hard surfaces until my spine was completely healed as, right now, it was quite
SCARLETT “Oh my goodness, Lucas. That’s crazy.” My stomach hurt from laughing. These Salvatore boys were hilarious and fun to be with. Lucas and Zach were unhinged.Aaron had this serious personality, but there was also this funny part to him I believed he didn’t let out much. We were all in th
