I walked out of the cave entrance, leaving the two terrified men behind. I knew they wouldn't move for a while.

I couldn’t go back to Elias, to the pack when I’m yet to do what was asked of me.

I’d killed onky obe out of the hundreds I was asked to kill. Going back to the pack to report tbis would mean reporting â partial success ând admitting I ignored the Alpha's complete kill order.

More importantly, it wouldn't answer the bigger question: Who was the leader? Who had enough hate and influence to pool three different packs against us?

I circled around the cave, moving quietly through the dense woods. I followed â trail of broken twigs and crushed leaves until it led me deeper into the forest.

I was right. These three wolves were just the representatives. The main force was close by.

A short time later, I found them.

The trees opened into a small, hidden clearing where maybe a dozen wolves were training.

Around the clearing, two guards were stationed at the edges, watching
