Chapter 3 - Bad News

PRANGGG

Her feeling right now was like being hit by a lightning strike that was so powerful, that it made her jolt in surprise without realizing it. Slowly, Charlotte wanted to get up from the sofa she was sitting on, intending to pick up the broken glass. However, swiftly the mother named Tiana immediately prevented it.

“Charlotte, are you alright? Are you hurt?” asked Tiana very worriedly.

"Why did you come to me? Later on, your leg will be injured."

"I'm really worried about you. What's wrong with you? It's not like you usually act like this." Tiana stepped through the broken glass, then sat down next to her.

Charlotte was silent for a moment, her eyes looked confused with herself at this moment. She wasn't the type of woman to be careless in any way.

But right now, her feelings were so mixed up that she wanted to cry now all of a sudden. Even her chest seemed to be pierced by a transparent thorn until it was tight.

"Charlotte?" Tiana waved a hand in front of her daughter's eyes.

But Charlotte didn't answer at all. She only showed the response of hugging her mother tightly, putting on a slightly frightened look on her face.

"What's wrong with you? Has something happened to you?” Tiana showed empathy by stroking her daughter's back rhythmically.

Suddenly a housekeeper entered the living room. Tiana stared at the assistant for a moment.

"Please clean this broken glass, don't leave any left behind!" Tiana asked the housekeeper firmly.

"Okay, Madam." The household assistant swiftly took a broom and started cleaning up the broken glass.

Back again, the mother and daughter continued their conversation which had been delayed before.

"What's the matter with you? You must tell all your problems to your mother!” Tiana repeated her urgent thrust at Charlotte.

"Suddenly I have a bad feeling," said Charlotte, shaking until cold sweat started running down her neck.

“What do you mean by a bad feeling? Is it possible that you are not ready to get married tomorrow?” Tiana frowned.

“I feel like something bad has happened to me and Gabriel. Our wedding won't go well tomorrow,” said Charlotte, shivering in fear as she tightened her embrace.

"Relax, Charlotte. Tomorrow your wedding will definitely go smoothly. The security guard must be very tight because the guards are watching you in every corner of the room.”

"But mother, the longer my feelings are not because of my marriage problems. But it's like something bad happened to Gabriel."

"Come on, think positively! Gabriel will definitely be fine, after all won't he be home soon after visiting Mr. Alexander?"

"That's true, Mom.”

Drrt…drrt…

At the same time, Charlotte's phone suddenly vibrated, Charlotte swiftly picked up a phone call from her best friend.

"Violet, why did you call me all of a sudden?"

“Quick, you have to see the news!” Violet's voice sounded panicked.

"What's the matter?"

“Prince Gabriel is missing!”

Charlotte stood still as if she had been hit by a powerful lightning strike until her cell phone slipped from her hand. Her eyes went wide, her body began to become so helpless that she almost collapsed to the floor. Fortunately, Tiana swiftly restrained her daughter's back.

Charlotte suddenly remembered the nightmare she had about Gabriel's death right in front of her. Remembering that, she was even more terrified that her dream had come true. It's just a little different from the situation in the dream.

"Mom, what should I do?" Tears began to flow from her eyelids.

"Here, you better sit quietly and tell mom well." Tiana led her daughter to sit on the sofa again.

“I can't calm down, Mom! I can't possibly be calm if the man I love was…”

Charlotte couldn't continue her words, scratching her head furiously until her hair was a mess. Starting to be crazy afraid of really losing her future husband on the day before the wedding.

Charlotte quickly pressed the button on the TV remote to watch the exclusive news currently being broadcast live on every TV channel in the country. The news shows a crime scene where a plane crashed near the coast. Seeing the bad news that shocked the whole country, made the mother and daughter so shocked that they almost fell limp.

Falling to the floor, her screams broke until it felt like she couldn't get her body up.

Meanwhile, Tiana was also so shocked that stroking her chest felt tight now.

“How did this happen to my future son-in-law?”

Charlotte without thinking immediately put on her coat to get ready to leave her residence. No matter how messy her hair looks, the most important thing is that her mind is only focused on the prince she loves.

"You want to go there?" Tiana asked.

“I had to see it firsthand with my own eyes. I'll make sure Gabriel is found safe, he's promised me he'll play the piano with me when he gets home. He never broke his promise.” Charlotte sobbed while wiping her tears using the sleeve of her coat.

"Then I will accompany you there."

"No need, mom. Just stay here, let me deal with it."

Charlotte hurriedly walked quickly towards the exit of her residence.

“But if something even worse happened, would you be able to handle it?” Tiana shouted loudly from behind.

“I believe Gabriel is still alive. This news is not entirely true, after all, this is still under investigation by the royal investigation team,” said Charlotte pretending to be tough, but actually she wasn't ready to face it if reality didn't match her expectations at this time.

Full of confidence, Charlotte stepped out of her residence, then entered her black sedan driven by her private chauffeur. She ordered the driver to take her to the crime scene listed on the news. It didn't take long, the sedan stopped at the crime scene, Charlotte ran out to a group of reporters who were covering the current exclusive news. She dispiritedly watched as many members of the National Intelligence Service were investigating the crime scene area. Looking at the body of her sweetheart was not found earlier, making her limp fall to the ground kneeling staring blankly.

Suddenly Violet, her closest friend, ran up to help her awaken a body that had no energy left.

“Did…he…really disappeared?” Charlotte threw her question nervously.

“Charlotte, we better get out of here!” Violet clasped her hands a little forcefully, but her hand was pushed away roughly.

“I ASK YOU ONCE AGAIN! WAS GABRIEL REALLY NOT FOUND?” shouted Charlotte, her emotions very unstable.

“Regarding that….since getting information on tracking the downing of the royal plane, all members of the royal police team or the National Intelligence Service immediately mobilized their troops to jump in here. But the bodies of Prince Gabriel and his secretary were nowhere to be found."

Her sobs were getting louder and louder until she was almost unconscious. Her vision was a little blurry from the shock she was in.

At the same time, the Prime Minister also just arrived here until her hands continue to tremble in fear looking at the crime scene area. There are several bodies of passengers on a jet plane consisting of several royal guards, pilots, and co-pilots. Their bodies were all lifeless and stiff. She swiftly approached Charlotte who was already helpless accompanied by Violet.

"Was Gabriel really nowhere to be found?" asked Agnes urgently.

Charlotte didn't answer at all, she could only cry out in resignation, so Agnes started to growl, clenching her right hand tightly.

"So, he really just disappeared? Why didn't you protect him properly?" she grumbled, shaking Charlotte in annoyance.

“So, you think that I, as his fiancé, failed to take good care of him? It's not all my fault though. You don't have the right to reprimand me at a time like this," Charlotte avoided raising her eyebrows.

"Why didn't you stop him from leaving? You could say that you should prepare for your wedding!”

“If I were you, I wouldn't let him go that easily. Surely I'd rather protect him until the wedding day than abandon her!”

Charlotte's body stood up straight, slowly approaching Agnes's body with a smirk.

“Now I want to ask you, Prime Minister Agnes. Do you still have feelings for Prince Gabriel?” asked Charlotte, emphasizing it.

“What nonsense were you talking about just now! How could I snatch Prince Gabriel from you!”

"Maybe it's because I always thought negatively of you in the past that I'm acting like this. Let's just see!”

“If I still have feelings, I definitely won't let you marry Gabriel!”

Hearing the heated debate, Violet took the initiative to stand between them, interrupting the argument before things got any worse.

"Come on, you two shouldn't argue anymore! We'd better focus on praying for Prince Gabriel's safety now!”

“Praying for his safety? Gabriel and Lucas were clearly nowhere to be found! If they was found, they would most likely not be saved!” dodged Agnes out loud.

“How dare you say that!” Violet snapped, clenching her hands.

Tired of engaging in heated debates. Charlotte preferred her gaze to the ocean with broken tears. Constantly blaming herself.

Seeing her best friend going crazy, Violet quickly hugged her to calm her down.

“Charlotte, brace yourself!”

"I can't stand to hear the bad news that happened to him. I regretted what I did to him at that time. I shouldn't have made that fight and better make the most of our time of intimacy. Because I loved him so much for the rest of my life.”

Now Charlotte felt very sorry for what she had done just a moment ago. If she could turn back time, she wanted to change everything and wouldn't treat her future husband so harshly that she hadn't seen each other for a few days. Since this incident had just happened, Charlotte couldn't do anything else, she could only cry.

Her nightmares, warning her in advance that something bad was going to happen to her future husband in the near future. Regret at the end is very painful.
