Chapter 45

This is how William became part of the assassins.

William's POV

As I slept beside my mate Anna, I came to realize something profound: I was part of a very strong family. It took me a while to understand this, but I am an integral part of this family. I often wondered how I could help them. While I slept, the moon goddess came to me. I knew she never appeared unless there was something important to convey. I found myself standing in the woods, arms crossed over my chest, simply observing. I was pondering why I was there until I heard her voice. I turned to see her: she had white hair cascading down her back, white eyes, and a white dress with a tribal mark on her forehead.

"I know you're wondering why I summoned you here, William, but I am forming an assassin group to aid Mercury's family. I know you well, William. It will be tough, but Anna's sisters, Luna and Kayla, are in dire need of help. A significant war is imminent as they seek to dethrone the king, who refuses to step down. Kayla is still struggling with her feelings for her mate. It will be challenging, William, but I believe you are the one to lead these men to glory. You will not only grow stronger but also make them stronger," she explained.

As he stood there listening, William pondered how he would navigate this new role, having been out of this world for many years.

"Moon goddess, I have not been involved in this for years. How will I disclose my past to Anna? Will she comprehend the gravity of what I must do? Will she allow me to aid her family?" I questioned. The moon goddess chuckled, aware of the intricacies of this family she had crafted, where the girls were fierce defenders while the men were even more formidable in matters of protection and family.

“My child, you should know better than to even think she wouldn't understand. These men have already helped Luna. They are making their way to you. One has found his mate. I cannot tell you who it is; I cannot stand in the way of this, not this time. Go and talk to Anna; she will not stand in your way.” Well, since she put it that way, I will need to talk to my mate as soon as possible. If the moon goddess has her way, these guys will be here in no time at all. “Go back, and when you wake up, talk to her; she will understand everything.” That was it; she was gone. I didn't understand why she picked me, but if she wants me to do this, then so be it. I was back in bed sleeping, but the sun came up way too soon. I had to get to my alpha duties so I could do paperwork, make a few phone calls, and check emails. I was in my office when Anna came inside with a stack of pancakes. She placed them in front of me. I ate, then grabbed her to sit in my lap, kissing her softly on her forehead.

“Anna, we need to talk about something. Last night, I had a visitor. The moon goddess came to me and told me to talk to you; you would understand. You see, long ago before we met, I was part of a group called The Assassins. It's the reason why someone grabbed me to hunt me down because of what I had done. There are going to be a few men coming soon so I can train them. It's only going to take a few days to train, and the reason for that is to help your family. They're going to be at war soon in the kingdom, and they will need our help. I know I should have told you about my past, but I didn't want to remember it. But now it's coming back to haunt me.” She sat there listening to me with a look of understanding. I didn't know if she would burst out laughing, slap me for not telling her – she had never raised a hand at me before – or if she would just get up and leave. She didn't do either of those things. She leaned into me, kissing me softly on my lips.

“I knew you had a past, everyone does even i do, but i would never hold that against you, you did what you had to do to live, If the moon goddess came to you about this, then its important to me as well, ‘if these guys going to be here, then we need to prepare some rooms for them, but let it be known, they will not disrespect you or this pack, or i will kick their a$$.” i could only smile at her then told her that they will not be sleeping in beds, they will be sleeping outside, that's how they are, she nodded without even asking questions, but i knew her all to well, she's going to want to help and learn at the same time, she didn't even have to ask, i knew her to well.

‘Yes you will be able to join in on the training, like i said it only takes a few days, then we will be off to find Luna and the rest of the group, if you want to join us on the travel you are more then welcome to, we will just need to get the beta to watch the pack while we are gone,” she nodded then kissed me cheek, grabbing the empty plate she left the office without saying a word, we didn't have to talk, we understood each other, That's what i loved about her, she always loved to train to get even stronger, i never stopped her, she even trained the pack to use guns if they needed to, some rather fight in wolf or bear form, Now all we have to do is wait until these guys get here, i got up and started looking for the things i needed like Swords, and daggers, i knew i needed to soak them in silver and wolfsbane, so i went into a room that was only made for this, putting on gloves, i placed what i needed in the poison, i remember those days when i had to target someone to get paid, it was hard sometimes, it was apart of my life i wanted to forget, But if the moon goddess wants me to do this, then so be it, 

Anna's POV

I knew my mate had a past. I just didn't know how serious it was. But when he told me about what he used to do before, they took him to hunt him down like they did with me because I'm a white wolf, I remember it like it was yesterday. I shuddered at the thought because it still gave me shivers down my arms. The next few days were brutal. The guys came out of the blue, emerging from the woods with a hard wind. William was out there waiting like he knew they were coming. They started training right then and there. I didn't know William was so good with knife-throwing, but he was. He even did a backflip, throwing a knife at a dummy that stabbed it right in the head. I asked him to show me how he did it, so he showed me. It took a couple of tries, but I did it. By the third day, we were ready. William asked his Beta, Guss, to watch over the pack until we get back. We packed a few clothes and then sped off. We got close to the hotel where Luna and the girls were staying for the night. We were told not to show ourselves, but I knew my sister. She would smell my scent and know I was close, so I had to use the scent masking spray. We got the room three doors down from them. One of the guys kept sniffing the air, and I knew he was smelling his mate. It makes me wonder which girl it was. Was it my sister? Or was it the others? He knew he needed to get the job done before he could claim her. We rested for a few hours. For me, I was excited. I haven't seen Luna in a few years since she's been off to school. She's my niece, and I love her. Let's just hope that soon we can see everyone. I'm hoping I will get to see my parents once they get back. The family dinner was a little odd without them. But dad was right. It was time for him to fully retire, and that's what he did. Now my brother, Isiah, is fully in control. Let's just hope they figure out what's going on.
