Chapter 4

I reach the hallway of my dorm and see a group of girls standing down it and talking.

“Oh that’s her… look at what the cat dragged in” the brunette girl says.

“Yes, clearly the Academy lets any type of riff-raff walk through its doors these days” the blonde girl responds.

It then dawns on me that they are speaking about me. I know I’m the first non-noble wolf to attend but I didn’t realise how noticeable it was that I was one.

They turn to whisper and laugh at me. I put my head down as I start to walk past.

“Hey bitch! I was talking to you” the brunette girl shoves me so hard that I fall over and onto my bags. Other girls hear the commotion and peep their heads out of their rooms giggling to themselves.

“Oh I’m sorry, hello it’s nice to meet you” I respond.

“Nice to meet us, yeah it better be nice to fucking meet us! You need to know your type is not welcome here and everyone knows that” she glares at me.

“C’mon Celeste, let’s go sort our room out for this year. I don’t want to waste another second on a lowly wolf” the blonde girl says as she begins to walk away.

“My name is Zena and you better not forget it bitch!” The brunette girl follows her friend down the hallway to their room.

Great, first time I meet nobles and I end up on the floor already. Better yet now half the dorm know who I am and I’m sure they will follow her example. This sucks already and term hasn’t even begun. I gather my thoughts and collect my belongings, walk to the end of the hallway and take the stairs to the third floor. At least I’ll be out the way of dumb and dumber. I reach my room number 38. I go to use my key to open the door but it opens instead. Inside a girl is unpacking her stuff, she looks up to see me and smiles.

“Oh hey, I’m Lila, you must be my roomie” she walks towards me to grab my bags and help.

“Oh erm hey, I’m Nova, yeahh I’m your roomie, I’m pleased to meet you” I smile at her which she returns. We take the bags to my room. The flat we have is massive, with a large lounge, open kitchen area, with two bedrooms with king sized beds and en-suites.

“Wow this is huge” I look around the bedroom I have been given.

Lila giggles in response “Ah this is small for us nobles but it’s comfortable enough”

I look at her realising the difference in what we are used to living in I hang my head in shame.

“Oh did nobody tell you yet? I’m not a noble” I start to pick at my fingers worried about her reaction.

“Ohhhhh so you’re her the new girl from Black Diamond pack right? I hear you’re a telepath that’s super cool you know!!” I can hear the excitement behind her words, I look up to her smiling at me.

“You don’t hate me for not being a noble?” I ask.

“Of course not my family, the Weston’s don’t give a shit about if people are noble or not. I’m not like the other stuck up bitches that we have to unfortunately share a dorm with” I go to sit on the bed as I tap it lightly for her to join me and the smile starts to grow on my face.

“Soooo, what can you do Lila?”

“Oh you know nothing that cool I’m just ridiculously fast and strong, you know something pretty basic but useful I guess. Our family is know for the intel we are able to gather as we can get in and out of places quickly and stealthily” I listen to her as she talks.

“Omg wait you’re not reading my mind right now are you?!” She gasps

“No I put up a mental wall so I can’t read others minds whilst it’s up. I must admit it’s pretty draining though keeping it up a lot of the time. If I’m surrounded by too many people and I let it relax or fall I end up vomiting” I explain

“Ouch! Well good luck having to keep it up 24/7 in this place, if you ever need anything just let me know okay? Now let’s get your stuff unpacked and I’ll whip us up some lunch” we both get up and start to unpack. Once 90% of the unpacking was done Lila excused herself to go make us food and I take it as a chance to call my mother.

“Hey mum how’s it going? Just letting you know I’ve landed and got to the Academy okay”

“Nova I’ve been worried you didn’t arrive safely, luckily Elder Michael messaged me when you landed he said you ran off to the toilet in a hurry?”

“Oh yeah, about that, I relaxed my wall whilst I was taking everything in and it made me sick”

“Nova you really do have to try your best to keep it up, especially now you’re constantly surrounded by people. I hear they have a woods nearby go there when you need a break”

“I’m sorry to worry you mum, but thanks for the advice! How are you holding up?”

“Well the house is certainly quieter and Alpha Mark has been storming around the pack house ever since you left. Luna Sophie has been trying with all of her might to keep him calmed down, but she’s not always around so sometimes the pack get the brunt of his anger”

“He’s such an idiot of a man, I can’t lie I’m glad I don’t have to put up with him anymore” we both start laughing at my comment.

“Well I’m unpacked now and going to eat the lunch my roommate has made for us, I’ll make sure to text daily”

“Okay love, I’m glad you’ve made a friend already I hear the nobles can be a lot to handle, speak soon”

“Byeee”

I hang up my phone and make my way to the lounge. Lila made fajitas for us, my favourite. Now I know I’ve been able to make one friend here it should make my time a little easier.
