Chapter 71: She's my girlfriend, and not yours.

Damon's POV

My alarm beeped at four in the morning, and that was when I realized the night had passed—it was already morning.

I stayed by Ava’s bed all night. I only managed a few hours of sleep, and for the rest of the night, I was wide awake.

Watching her sleep, checking the heart monitor. I wasn’t a doctor, but I was alert enough to know when the monitor was beeping incorrectly.

The only times I stayed away from Ava were when the nurses came in to check on her...

Bianca had offered to stay the night with her, but I told her to rest at the reception. She had already done so much. Besides, I had nothing else to do—or better yet, I couldn’t bring myself to do anything, knowing Ava wasn’t yet on her feet.

I turned off my alarm and stayed by Ava’s bedside. I wasn’t going to work today. The last time I went to work while Ava was still in the hospital, everything went chaotic. I wasn’t going to risk that ever again.
