Lily’s POV

I walked slowly inside the room as I closed the door gently behind me. I knew Alpha Darius' stare was on me as I looked up at him. He was seated at the edge of the King-sized bed placed in the right corner of the big room, close to a large window that flooded the room with rays from the moonlight which made the room bright.

I couldn’t help but admire the beauty of the room, the room was neatly arranged as an Alpha’s room should look like. I never had the opportunity to enter the room ever since Alpha Darius moved in after his father’s death. I knew life wouldn’t have been the same if he hadn’t lost his memories during the war which led to the killing of his family. I walked closer towards the bed as I pressed my feet against the soft carpet covering the floor.

We looked at each other in silence for a while before I finally lowered my gaze to the floor as I tried to figure out why he invited me to his chambers. My heart began to beat fast as he walked closer to me, and my mind flashed back to when he kissed me on my lips along the hallway and I quickly stepped backwards.

‘What is he up to this time?’ I asked myself with confusion etched on my face. I wondered if he had begun regaining his lost memories of my relationship with him before the war. As I closely examined his eyes, I noticed that the look on them was not a pleasant one.

His eyes were burning in anger as I looked at him. I felt a sudden panic surge through my body as I wondered if he was going to punish me for the kiss. If I could remember he was the one who kissed me first, he made the move first.

I couldn’t figure out the reason behind the anger etched on his face. He looked at me fiercely as if he was going to tear me apart the next moment. I tried to hide my fear as I still managed to keep a straight face as though I didn’t notice the anger etched on his face.

“Is there anything you are hiding from me, Lily?” He asked, his voice low but deep breaking the silence in the room.

I moved two steps away from him close to the door as I tried to create a breathing space for myself before I answered his question.

“I don't seem to understand what you mean my lord” I replied, my voice barely audible.

Confusion was etched on his face as his countenance changed slowly, his facial expression seemed to soften a bit. He walked towards the window and looked out into the garden filled with beautiful flowers as though he could find the answers to the question he asked me on the flowers.

“I mean
Why do I feel different around you? Why does my wolf tend to get excited whenever you are around me?” He queried, his gaze still fixed outside the window.

“I have no idea what you are talking about, my lord.” I replied sharply, my heart was beginning to beat fast. I knew it was a lie. I clearly understood what he was saying because I also felt the same way whenever I was around him.

I knew he was my fated mate, but he had no idea because he lost his memories. I can't start telling him the truth since he doesn't remember anything about me before he lost his memory, we used to be close friends.

“Why do I feel like you are hiding something from me, Lily?” He asked, raising his voice a bit as he turned to look at me. He relaxed his back on the window while he faced me as he folded his arms across his chest. He looked me straight in the eyes as though he was going to compel me to tell him everything I know.

“I mean you are not the only female in this palace but my wolf always yearns for your presence, my wolf is always excited to be around you. I know something is not right, I just can't figure out what is actually happening to me.” He remarked.

I felt the urge to speak up but it was as though the words got stuck in my throat, I just stood looking at him in silence. I couldn't even look him straight in the eyes, my gaze was still fixed on the floor. I feared he might sense that I was lying to him.

“I’m sorry my lord, I don't know anything about what you are talking about” I lied again, my tone laced with fear. I was already getting anxious.

He moved away from the window towards me and placed his two palms on my shoulder. I was lost in thoughts as images of the sweet memories we shared before he lost his memories started flashing back.

“Do you mean you don't feel anything whenever you are around me? My presence doesn't stimulate any feelings at all?” He questioned as he looked at me closely in the eyes as though the answer to his question was written in my eyes.

“I don't feel anything at all.” I replied, my tone laced with certainty. I felt a pang of guilt as I uttered the statement. I began to feel uncomfortable lying to him and I felt suffocated in the room, I just wanted to go out of the room and take in some fresh air.

“This is a misunderstanding, my lord.” I asserted, my voice soft and calm.

Confusion was etched on his face as he looked at me suspiciously, it was as though he wasn't impressed by my response. He took his palms off my shoulder. The thought of Selene suddenly came to my mind.

I knew she wouldn't be happy if she discovered that Alpha Darius invited me to his room. She had tried her best not to allow him to remember any memory of me at all. She always ensured I kept my distance from him as far as she could. She made life so unbearable for me in the palace and always treated me differently from other maids working in the palace.

The thought of what she might do to me if she finds out Alpha Darius invited me to his chambers elevated my heartbeat. I looked at him and noticed that he wasn't ready to let me go out of his room. I began to think of how I could leave the room without upsetting him.

“What about the kiss?” He questioned suddenly, his voice interrupting my thoughts. “How did you feel when you felt the touch of my lips on yours?” He continued, as he lowered his tone.

The words hung in the air as my body stiffened, I wasn't expecting him to mention anything about the kiss. I just wanted to run out of his chambers. I had a feeling that whatever he was hitting at might not end well for me.

He moved closer to me as he pressed his thigh against mine, he touched my chin gently and lifted up my face and my gaze met his own. My body stiffened and my heart began to pound loudly. He lowered his face against mine as he moved his lips closer to mine. I closed my eyes.

I suddenly heard the loud sound of the door and I quickly opened my eyes. It was Selene, she stood at the door with a shock expression clearly written on her face as she held the door knob.

One year laterThe sunrays peered into my eyes through the curtains. I opened my eyes, rubbing my fingers on my face. “Good morning, sweetheart. Breakfast in bed!” Darius cheered, placing a gentle kiss on my forehead. “Good morning, my love. Isn’t this too early.” I smiled, grabbing the cup of coffee on the tray. I took a sip and dropped the cup back on the tray. “You need to eat well so the baby won’t be hungry, I know you are strong enough to hold your hunger but our baby isn’t.” He said, kissing my stomach. My baby bump had become so obvious that I couldn’t hide it in my gowns like I used to. Darius placed his ear gently and listened to the baby’s movement in my belly. “He is kicking fine, just like his dad.” He teased, kissing me on the lip. Everything happening around me felt like a dream. I never believed that I could be happy again in my life. My life flashed before my life the day Selene had stabbed me through the heart with a sword. I never believed that I would be a

Author’s POVLily and Amaya ran breathlessly towards the main building as they got out of the secret passage. She hadn’t recovered from the shock of seeing Selene yet. Lily stopped for a while as she tried to catch her breath. The compound was filled with injured and dead guards as they continued walking towards the main building. Lily was worried about Darius, she hadn’t set her eyes on him since he left the event hall. “Do you think she is okay?” She asked Amaya who was shaking like a leaf in fear. “He should be okay. Alpha Darius isn’t someone who could be taken down easily.” Amaya replied, it was obvious that her mind wasn’t on what she was saying. They continued to walk in silence till she sighted Darius from afar, he was slaughtering the masked men with his sword. He killed the last man and began to walk towards the, his shirt soaked with blood. “Where is that asshole? Come out and meet me, let me take your head off.” He roared. Darius was referring to Alpha Malik, he ha

Lily’s POVThe event was going smoothly until we had an uproar from outside the palace. Darius stood up immediately and walked towards the exit of the event hall. The noise grew louder as Darius went outside the hall. The crowd began to murmur amongst themselves as they all wondered what was happening. I could see the confusion written on their faces. “What do you think the problem is?” Amaya asked, confusion written on her face as well. “I have no idea what’s happening,” I replied, my eyes scanning the crowns for some clue. I waited for Darius to return but I didn’t see him after some minutes. Suddenly, I heard the sound of glasses being shattered and I stood up from my seat immediately. I knew at that moment that all was not well, I became scared when Darius didn’t return on time. Lucien ran in after a few seconds and began to scream. “Run for your lives! We have been attacked.” He screamed.I could see blood stains on his clothes as he walked towards me. My heart missed a be

Author’s POV It was the day of the event and the palace bustled with people. The sun shone brightly on Lily’s face making her skin glow differently. Everyone had something to do including the guards and the maids. Lily walked gracefully with her beautiful glowing flowing behind her to the event hall. Everyone was stunned by her beauty and elegance. Her beautiful gown accentuated her fine shape and the event hall lightened up immediately when she entered. Her presence in the hall wasn’t one that could be ignored, she drew everyone’s attention with her graceful steps as she strode towards the chair that was already arranged for her. The chair was placed next to Darius’ chair; he had ordered the guards to arrange the chairs that way. He was speaking with Lucien, his most trusted guard. He was so engrossed in the conversation that he didn’t know that Lily was standing behind him. He almost lost his balance when his eyes met Lily’s when he finally turned back. “Oh my goddess, you are

Lily's POV“Where are you going?” Darius asked as I stood up from the couch and began to walk out of the chambers. “I’m heading to my room,” I answered without turning back to look at him. I had already had enough, I couldn’t wait any longer. I just wanted to be in my room.“Are you okay, Lily?” He asked again, I was sure he noticed the pain in my voice. “I’m fine,” I replied sharply. I couldn’t believe Darius was seriously asking me if I was okay after what the chief had just revealed. I walked back to my room with a heavy heart, my legs felt weak as I climbed the stairs. I was still trying to process what the chief maid had said. I couldn’t believe that the chief maid could collaborate with Selene after everything she had done. She was well aware of the way Selene had attempted to kill me countless times but she failed. The news that shocked me more was Alpha Malik helping Selene to escape from the palace. I wondered what the hell they were planning. It was obvious to the bl

  • Forbidden Love: The Alpha Rejected Luna Second Chance    Chapter 165

Darius’ POVI pondered over what I had planned to tell Lily. She had declined once and I was sure she was going to do the same again. I decided to summon the courage and ask her anyway. That was the only way I thought I could save our relationship from crumbling. “I’m sorry for everything that has been happening lately.” The atmosphere in the room was tense. ‘That was an uncomfortable way to start my conversation,’ I thought to myself. I realized that I had just made things more awkward between us. She smiled weakly without saying anything. “I have not been myself lately, Lily. I’m not comfortable with the fact that you have been avoiding me since Selene escaped from the palace.” I started. I didn’t expect her to give up on us so easily because of the asshole. I had missed her so much, I find myself thinking about her every time. “I’m sorry, my lord. I was overwhelmed by everything that happened. I’m scared of what Selene might do next, my lord.” She mumbled with a shaky voice.
