Chapter 005
Nicole
As our argument unfolded, Sylvia massaged her temples in exasperation before fixing us with a scornful glare. "Enough with the drama, both of you!" she shouted, jabbing her index finger in our direction. "And you, Nicole! You need to get yourself together! I don't want to seeing you marry Nathan Monroe while you're covered in bruises and kiss marks!"
"But I don't want to marry him!" I remained resolute. No one could coerce me into marrying a man I found so repulsive.
"Oh, certainly, my dear! Don't try to challenge me!" I hadn't noticed that it was my stepmother gripping me, not Kendra. "I'll arrange a meeting for the two of you to meet and become acquainted." she proposed with a smug tone, giving my arm a forceful shove as she let go of me.
''No! I am not doing it!'' I shook my head, narrowing my eyes into splits. The decision that I had made remained unaltered.
''Really?" Sylvia scoffed, pulling out her phone. "You're causing too much trouble! I'm calling the hospital now to stop your niece's treatment!" she threatened. But before she could dial, Kendra snatched the phone from her hand.
"Let me do it, Mom," Kendra said, smirking maliciously at me. "Let's see how long you last."
Stunned, I stared at her as tears began to form in my eyes. How unfortunate to have a family like this in my life. If only I had the funds for Andrea's medical bills, I wouldn't be here enduring their blackmail. I wouldn't be suffering at their mercy.
I couldn't stand by and let Andrea die. Camille had protected me when the two malevolent witches came to our home. Beyond repaying my sister's kindness by looking after her daughter, I held deep affection for Andrea. I fervently hoped that no harm would come to her, as she was the only family I had left.
"Stop crying!" Sylvia yelled furiously. "I'm sick and tired of all your drama! I want to know your decision now!" As I hesitantly nodded, she raised her hand to halt Kendra from dialing the hospital's number. "Hold on, sweetie. Let's hear Nicole's decision first."
No longer wanting to be trapped with these two greedy witches, I made my decision as I wiped away my tears.
Taking a deep breath and holding my chin high, I replied, "Fine. I'll marry Nathan Monroe."
At that moment, I didn't care about who the man was or what my future held after the marriage. My sole focus was on ensuring Andrea received treatment; she is more important to me than my own life at this point.
Yet, I couldn't help but wonder why Kendra no longer wished to marry him. Was it due to the rumors of his unattractiveness? Or was it because she was pregnant with my ex-boyfriend's child?
I didn't really care about the situation. As long as Sylvia sticks to her word and supports Andrea's treatment, I'm okay with marrying the guy, no matter how he looks.
…………..**********................
My face was devoid of emotion as I gazed at my reflection. The white dress, a piece from Kendra's previous designer collections, was chosen for me. They refused to spend any additional money, justifying that my future husband was monstrous and the wedding would be far from luxurious or grand. They described Nathan Monroe as not only unattractive but impoverished as well.
I never would have imagined that I'd end up marrying someone I'd never met. The anxiety was overwhelming. What if Nathan discovers I'm not Kendra? What if, aside from being unattractive, he was also a murderer? The thought that he might kill me upon learning I was his fictitious wife terrified me.
My mind was swamped with thoughts, amplifying my unease. The mirror before me now showed a gamut of emotions on my face: fear, regret, nervousness, and dread.
'No, no. Don't harbor such thoughts, Nicole.'
I took a few deep breaths and composed myself. This was the only way to save Andrea, and to be completely free from my stepmother and stepsister’s evilness towards me. I would no longer stay here in this house and tolerate their bad attitude after the wedding.
"Nicole, let's go!" came my stepmother's voice from outside my room. I let out a deep sigh before rising from my seat, where I had been in front of my vanity mirror for nearly an hour.
Following Sylvia and Kendra downstairs, I frowned upon seeing my stepsister's appearance. She looked so elegant and stunning that one might think she was the bride. She donned a gorgeous off-the-shoulder old rose gown, embellished with diamonds. Unlike her, who had a make-up artist enhance her beauty, I had only dusted on some face powder and a light swipe of lipstick.
I let out another deep sigh as I walked towards the main door, only to be startled by the sight of a line of cars behind a white limousine, with a guard standing by.
Is this the vehicle designated for my transport to the event? I believed Nathan Monroe to be impoverished. How then could he afford such luxurious transportation?
Turning to Sylvia and Kendra, I saw they were just as shocked. Their eyes were wide, mouths agape. "Mom! What's all this?" Kendra shouted, her feet pounding the ground. "You told us Nathan was poor!"
"He is! I'm not sure about this, sweetie. Let's go and see for ourselves. I'm certain these cars aren't Nathan's. Let's see how dismal and shabby their wedding seems to be. Come on, sweetheart!" She took Kendra's hand and hurried her towards the limousine.
The guard promptly assisted them, apparently mistaking Kendra for the bride instead of me.
As I approached the limousine containing Sylvia and Kendra, a guard halted my progress. "I'm sorry, Miss, but the cars at the back are for the guests," he explained politely, gesturing towards the vehicles behind the limousine.
I simply nodded and remained silent as I proceeded, noticing the two women laughing irritatingly while observing me enter the car behind theirs.
Chapter 136NicoleAs Nathan locked eyes with me, his hand found its way to my most intimate spot. He teased my slickness with his finger before suddenly pushing it inside, causing me to jerk. He pulled it out and pushed it back in repeatedly, all while keeping our gazes locked. "Damn," he murmured through clenched teeth. "You're so warm and tight. I can't wait to feel you again." I struggled to speak. "N-Nathan," I stammered. "We can't do this here. What if—" To my surprise, he smiled softly. "Ssshh... just trust me, okay?" I nodded, and he withdrew his finger, letting out a small chuckle. Then he leaned down and kissed me gently, but I could still sense his desire. He positioned himself at my entrance, and I gasped as he lifted my legs, holding them firmly, making me yelp. I felt so vulnerable, but I knew he was doing this to go deeper. I swallowed hard, and he entered me. A small scream escaped my lips. His hardness filled me completely, and he began to move slowly, driving m
Chapter 135NicoleAs I got closer to the bed, I noticed the thing Nathan was holding in his hand again, and it made me curious."What's that?" I asked, and he turned to me with a grin. He opened his hand, revealing a diamond ring resting in his palm. His eyes locked onto mine, filled with determination. "I want to marry you again, Nicole," he whispered. "I want to do it right this time. Will you marry me?"I felt tears start to form in my eyes as a wave of emotion washed over me."Yes," I replied, nodding with a smile, and I could see the relief etched on his face. "I will marry you again, Nathan."I sat on the bed and leaned down to kiss him. After I pulled away, he slipped the ring onto my finger and kissed my hand gently. He sighed softly, looking at me with happiness, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear before giving me another sweet kiss."I love you, Nicole," he murmured, pulling me closer and deepening the kiss.Just as I was about to respond, a nurse walked in to check on
Chapter 134NicoleI couldn't believe my own eyes. Is this for real?If it was just a dream, I really didn't want to wake up. Nathan tried to move his finger again, but he was still so weak. I gently stroked his hand, a soft smile creeping onto my face as tears filled my eyes. "Nathan, you're awake," I whispered. He looked at me with those deep eyes of his. "I had a dream," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "And in that dream, you called for me. Many, many times."I ran my fingers along his cheek, noticing a tear forming in the corner of his eye, which I quickly wiped away. "I've been thinking..." he hesitated, his voice raspy. "What if you haven't forgiven me? I couldn't just leave you like that, could I?"My lips quivered, and I fought back tears. He looked at me, his eyes pleading. "Nicole," he murmured. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything I did to you. I'm sorry for hurting you."I shook my head. He was pleading like he was on the brink of death. He had put himself i
Chapter 133NicoleAfter I assured Dad and Andrea that I would visit them at home once things had calmed down, they left. Andrea had a scheduled monthly appointment with her doctor, necessitating their immediate departure.Shortly thereafter, Nathan's father arrived, prompting us to stand up abruptly. Mr. Monroe appeared utterly devastated, which was understandable given that his son was fighting for his life. He must have learned about the situation from the news.Landon was the first to approach him, his hands shoved into his pockets. Mr. Monroe seemed to lose his ability to articulate words as he leaned against the wall, staring blankly into space with a vacant expression. The once arrogant and authoritative Mr. Monroe was no longer visible; instead, I saw a man consumed by worry, fearing that his son might leave him without a chance to ask forgiveness from him.My throat tightened painfully. Had Nathan's life not been at risk, he would not have paid him a visit. Now, they were end
Chapter 132Nicole"Nicole, my baby," Dad called out, but I acted like I didn't hear him. I got up from my chair and moved to a place where I could let my anger out without being seen. But he quickly approached me, wrapping me in a hug. I shook his arms off forcefully, and he sighed, letting his hands fall to his sides. "I'm sorry. I regret not treating you right and fairly. I was too caught up in my feelings for Sylvia," he said, wiping away a tear."What exactly do you want from me?" I asked, my voice shaky. "Is it because you found out my husband is rich? Are you after his money? Can't you see he's in bad shape now? It's not the right time to come here!"He shook his head vigorously. "Nicole, please... just let me explain first?" he pleaded, looking straight into my eyes. "No!" I shot back. "I'm here to apologize and to thank your husband for saving my business. I owe him so much, and I regret listening to Sylvia," he continued."So, she matters more to you than I do! I am your
Chapter 131Nicole"You, fucking asshole!" Nathan growled, and I could feel him getting ready to charge again. That's when Homer fired once more. I snapped my head around in horror as another bullet hit Nathan's other shoulder, his scream piercing the air. I was sobbing now, my chest heaving. "No, please! Don't shoot him! Oh my God, Nathan!" I screamed, wishing Nathan would just stay put."You're such a fool. Haven't you learned your lesson?" Homer smirked. "Those were two bullets you just took!""Nicole! Nathan!" Landon's voice suddenly boomed as he burst through the door, pulling me back to reality with a rush of adrenaline.Landon's here! Homer jumped in surprise, and I saw my chance. But before I could act, Nathan was quicker. While Homer was distracted by Landon's entrance, Nathan charged at him, slamming him against the window, causing Homer's head to hit the wall as Nathan gripped his neck. However, Homer had the advantage since Nathan was injured. He shoved Nathan's should
