Grayson's pov:

She stared at me like I had just handed her a weapon.

But she reached forward anyway and slipped her fingers past the collar of my shirt. The brush of her knuckles against my neck was light but fuck, it lit me up like gasoline meeting flame.

She tugged it out from underneath my shirt. The ring dangling from it slid down and clinked softly against my sternum, warm from my skin.

“Family ring?” She asked, pulling it gently between two fingers and observing the crest.

  • From my Bully to CEO   Chapter 46

PASTSELENE’S POV:Detention day three was in an empty classroom with blank sheets of parchment in front of us and pens we were using for anything but writing.Mr. Garrison had handed over this detention to Ms Woods, which, insanely enough, made me miss him.At least he left us alone in his detentions. Not that I was thinking about being alone, I reprimanded myself quickly when heat rushed to my neck all of a sudden. After what happened in the records room yesterday, what I had let happen, I didn’t even want to think about being alone at detention, too afraid I would find myself with Grayson again somehow.I still couldn’t come to terms with what had actually happened. Why didn’t I stop him?And as much as I tried to deny it, I was the one who initiated whatever happened yesterday. My head was spinning and I spent the entire last night turning in my bed, waking up from indecent dreams, all of them starring him and then ending up thinking about the actual thing. The heat of his body

The brush of her knuckles against my neck was light but fuck, it lit me up like gasoline meeting flame. She tugged it out from underneath my shirt. The ring dangling from it slid down and clinked softly against my sternum, warm from my skin.“Family ring?” She asked, pulling it gently between two fingers and observing the crest. The dark green background with a V enclosed by another, inverted V.I nodded. The space between us was suffocating, the air charged wrong in all the right ways. She shouldn’t be holding it, shouldn’t even be this close to me, but here she was with her hand splayed against my chest, staring at me with a look I couldn’t decipher.“You’re proud of your family name,” she said matter-of-factly. “Why hide the ring like this?”I stiffened. I should’ve brushed her off. I should’ve leaned back, put distance betwee

  • From my Bully to CEO   CHAPTER 44

PASTGRAYSON’S POV:Detention day two was in the records room on the second floor.Which was ridiculous, because I was pretty sure they were inventing new locations just to torture us. I hadn’t even known the school owned a records room. And staying true to its non-existent reputation, the room was a mess. The place was about the size of a classroom, lined with floor-to-wall shelves sagging under the weight of forgotten files. Dust hung so thick in the air it scratched at my throat with every breath. It was the kind of room that made me think arson might not be such a terrible idea in some cases. The others had disappeared behind different shelves as soon as Mr Garrison had walked out the room, warning us that he’ll be checking back in fifteen minutes.Theo went straight to Maya, and within seconds they were knee-deep in the most recent calculus problem they were solving in class. Josh and Nathan had sulked off together to find a secluded spot where they could hide and do nothing in

PastSelene's Pov:Maya shrugged. “It’s better down here. You should try it.”His frown melted instantly into a grin directed at her. “You’re supposed to be reshelving, Saeed.”“Not like you and the boys are doing anything groundbreaking down there,” she shot back.Theo’s eyes glinted. “No, not really. They’re making forts from books.”Maya snorted. “Wow. Real mature.”He laughed before his gaze finally landed on me and he turned serious. His posture straightened.“Well, uh,” he began, scratching the back of his neck, “I just wanted to apologize. To you, Selene.”My eyebrows shot up.“Excuse me?” I said, pushing myself up on one elbow so I could stare at him properly.Theo shifted his weight from foot to foot, looking like he’d rather be anywhere else. Before he could speak, Maya sat up, folding her legs underneath her, cutting in.“Do you want me to leave?” she asked, tone deliberately casual but her brows lifted in question.Theo shook his head immediately. “No. You can stay.” He

PASTSELENE’S POV:The first detention task was to reshelve the library.Which, honestly, made the whole thing feel a lot less like punishment.Additionally, Crescent High’s library was a mini mansion in itself and I already lost the boys after one aisle. It was a relief like no other. At least I didn’t have to spend the next hour staring at their smug faces. If I got lucky, maybe all five detentions would be here.Maya shoved a fat history volume into the stack I was holding with more force than was necessary and I groaned under the weight. My arms were starting to hurt.“I said sorry,” she rolled her eyes at me.“I can’t believe I have to waste five hours of my life because of you.”“Nobody asked you to follow after me back then,” I pointed out, pulling another history book from the fantasy section. “You could’ve stayed behind and saved yourself all that trouble..”She cut me a look, like I committed a crime by being logical.“Oh, right. I should’ve just let you implode in front of

PastSelene's pov:Grayson's pupils dilated, fingers curling around my fist as he freed himself from my grip almost effortlessly.“Are you fucking insane, Hale?” He asked, voice gruff.“You saw me talking to him after class,” I shot back, refusing to back down, “and you decided to make a joke out of me.”I was sure of it. Grayson was the only other person in the class that day, after everyone else had left, lingering behind for some reason or another.“Despite what you might believe, Ninety Eight -” Grayson drawled, lip curling in a sneer. “I don’t spend every waking moment thinking of you.”Heat flooded me but this felt different from the rage I was feeling. His grip on my wrist tightened, his thumb pressing deliberately against my pulse.“Then stop touching me like you do,” I hissed, yanking my wrist from within his grip.I hadn’t even fully thought out my words before speaking them and I only realized what I said when I noticed the dark flicker in his eyes. He let me go as if I bur
