Liz POV My head is pounding, and someone is screaming obscenities by my side. I try to remember where I am. The last thing I remember is Deimos walking out on me. Leaving me in the hospital to heal alone. I have hopes that the person beside me is Deimos, but they sound far too chipper to be him. I open my eyes one at a time and blink several times, trying to clear the haze from them. I moan loudly at the bright light that is shining in my eyes. I turn my head to the side and see a man with golden hair and bright blue eyes grinning at me. “And the Princess awakens,” he says cheerfully. “I thought I was going to have to be your knight in shining armor and kiss you to get you to wake up.” I cock my head to the side and try to make sense of the man who is cracking jokes beside me. He has a headset on his head and a gaming controller in his hands. He is pressing buttons on the controller while he stares me in the eyes. There is a loud boom that comes from across the room,
Deimos POV By the time I return to the pack house, Tracy has been moved to the dungeons below and is waiting for me. She is tied to a chair with silver wire with a grim look on her face. Tracy is trying not to show her fear, but I know she is scared. I can smell it in the air around her. “Tracy, Tracy, Tracy,” I say as I circle the chair. “You should have known you would get caught.” Her cold eyes look into mine and she doesn’t flinch when she sees Duko pressing to the surface. “I don’t know what you are talking about.” “Normally, I wouldn’t bother to perform torture myself,” I say as I flip a knife in my hand. “But this time, you have hurt something that belongs to me.” Tracy lets out a snort of laughter. “She doesn’t belong to you. You have yet to mark and mate her. She is nothing to this family.” I twist the knife in my hand so it is facing down, and I slam it into the top of her hand. Tracy screams out in pain as the blade pierces through her and into the wood
Liz POV Ace has stayed true to his word and hasn’t left my side. Deimos still hasn’t returned to see me, and I have given up hope that he will. Maybe he has decided being married to me is more of a hassle than what it is worth. I try not to show my disappointment over the fact that Deimos hasn’t returned, but Ace seems to be able to detect it on my face. Ace continues to glance at me out of the corner of his eyes while he continues to play his stupid video game. Finally, he drops the gaming controller in his lap and turns to me. “If you are going to pout the whole time I am here, then I will have to do something to make you smile.” Leaning back against my pillow, I roll my eyes before turning my head away from Ace. But my actions aren’t enough to keep Ace from continuing to bother me. This guy can’t catch a hint. Ace sits on the edge of my bed and begins to tickle my feet through the blankets. It catches me off guard and I kick him in the stomach. Letting out a terrib
Liz POV I feel much better after all of Deimos’s blood has been fed through my body. I dare to get to my feet and look in the mirror. The cuts and bruises that had marred my body are gone, and I look almost normal. There is a glow to my skin that was not there before. I lean closer to the mirror to inspect my skin closer. When someone behind me clears their throat. I jump in fear at the noise. I quickly spin around and see Stella standing in the doorway with a smirk on her face. “I see you are feeling better,” she says, and she genuinely looks relieved, which is more than I can say for her brother. Deimos didn’t even bother to hang around to see if I would heal from his blood. “I am, thanks to your brother,” I say, plastering a fake smile across my lips. “Don’t give him all the credit,” Stella says as she crosses her arms over her chest. “He left you here alone.” “That’s not true.” I jump to defend him. “He had work that needed to be done. He sent Beta Ace to sit
Liz POV Stella parks her car in front of the pack house and turns to me before getting out. “I think you should stay away from Deimos until the feelings subside.” “I can control myself,” I say shortly. I do not intend to avoid Deimos to make things easier on him. “It isn’t you I am worried about,” Stella says quietly, like someone is listening in. “Deimos is a grown man,” I remind her. “I am sure he can control his urges.” Stella takes in a breath and holds it for a moment. “I just don’t want to see you get hurt.” “I can handle myself,” I tell her. “I might be easily breakable, but my feelings are not.” Stella only nods in response. We both get out of the car, and the scent of Applewood hits me like a ton of bricks. A slight breeze is in the air, carrying Deimos’s scent directly to me. My mouth begins to water, and I want nothing more than to find him. I begin to walk in the direction of the scent when Stella grabs my arms and pulls me in the direction of the pack
Deimos POV My dark tattooed skin looks deadly against Elizabeth’s pale white skin. My fingers flex around her neck, but I don’t squeeze. I hold her head so she can’t look away from my eyes. I expect her to be afraid, but she is not. Instead of fear, her eyes are filled with lust. I have to remind myself that it is only my blood in her veins that is making her feel this way. She didn’t feel the bond between us before. Our lips are dangerously close to meeting. I can feel her breath against my skin, and her scent of roses is driving me insane. “You should leave,” I tell her, but I do not release her neck from my hand. “Why?” She whispers in response. “Because you only feel this way because of my blood,” I remind her with a low growl. “I am not leaving,” she breathes out seductively. “You don’t know what you are asking,” I warn her. “I know exactly what I am asking for,” she responds. Elizabeth looks up at me from beneath her lashes and licks her lips. Running my
Liz POV I know I should feel embarrassed because Stella just walked in on our little play time, but I can’t focus on anything but Deimos’s fingers in my core and his breath on my neck. My hand is still tightly gripped around his wrist. I know I should stop what we are doing, but the tingles spreading across my skin make it hard to end it. Plus, it isn’t like my hand on his arm is keeping him from sliding his fingers between my folds. I loosen my grip around his wrist but don’t let go. Holding onto him gives me the illusion that I am in control of the situation when we both know I am not. “Someone else could walk in,” I whisper, trying to contain the moans escaping from my mouth. “That’s what makes it fun,” Deimos laughs. “The risk of being caught.” I have to admit he is right. The thought of someone walking in and finding Deimos and me together is exciting. I can feel myself getting wetter just thinking about being caught. Deimos pushes my hair off my neck and nibb
Liz POV My heart is pounding in my chest as I follow Nico out of the gym. There is a car waiting for us outside. I hesitate to get inside when Nico opens the door for me. “Tick-tock, Liz,” Nico smirks. “You don’t want to keep me waiting.” Swallowing the lump that has risen in my throat, I slide into the back of the car, and Nico pushes his way in beside me. I scoot across the backseat, trying to put as much distance between Nico and myself as possible. I am pressed against the vehicle door, and Nico slides close enough that our legs are touching. He lays a hand on my leg, and I have to fight the urge to vomit. “Don’t touch me,” I hiss at Nico. Nico laughs loudly and squeezes my leg before signaling the driver to take off. The driver hammers on the gas, and the tires screech as the car lurches forward. I assume that Nico is taking me back to the pack house, but the driver passes it without slowing down. I turn and watch as the pack house disappears behind us, and my
