Leo hated this feeling.

From the sidelines, stuck in his ankle brace, all he could do was watch and lately, what he saw made his blood boil.

Ethan Blackwood. New signing. Flashy smile. Even flashier footwork.

And always, always hovering around Maya.

Leo watched him during drills, the way he’d casually sling an arm around her shoulders, whisper something that made her frown, linger just a little too long.

Leo clenched his jaw. The worst part? He couldn’t say anything. Not officially. Not personally.

So he stewed. Quietly.

Maya noticed, too.

Ethan was good. No denying that. But he was also exhausting.

He flirted constantly. Made every conversation a performance. And never seemed to register that her short answers and stiff smiles were not encouragement.

After training one afternoon, she slipped into the analytics room, headphones in, eyes locked on a rival team’s midfield patterns. Just her, the screen, and blessed silence.

Until the door creaked open.

“Still grinding, Davies?”

The locker room before the Blackburn match was quieter than usual. Not because the players weren’t focused but because there was something deeper hanging in the air. It wasn’t just about winning anymore. It was about exposing a traitor.Maya sat in front of her locker, adjusting her shin pads slowly, her hands steady even though her stomach was tight. Around her, her teammates prepared in silence. Everyone was tense. Not just with pre-match nerves but with the feeling that something wasn’t right. Something was lurking behind the scenes. In her mind, Coach Vance’s last words repeated over and over:“Decoy plays, subtle. Very subtle. And the moment we see a reaction, we switch immediately.”This was dangerous. If Blackburn had the leaked set-piece plans, they’d be ready. They could use that information to turn the match against them. But Maya knew the risk was necessary. They needed proof, clear and undeniable proof that Liam Hayes had leaked the tactics. And that Scarlett Thompson was

Right after the charity match, things went strangely quiet. On the surface, everything looked calm. The newspapers praised the match, calling it a "historic display of unity." Photos of Maya and Leo smiling together were everywhere. The press was eating it up. But behind the scenes, Maya and Leo were burning with quiet fury. They had finally confirmed it, Liam Hayes was the leaker. Scarlett Thompson was the one pulling his strings. The time for guessing was over. Now, they had to act. But if they were going to make a move, it had to be smart. Fast wouldn’t be enough. They needed to be exact, and they needed to win. That night, they met in Leo’s apartment. It was a modern place, big and expensive, but lately, it had become something else. It wasn’t just his home. It was their war room. A safe place to plan.Half-eaten takeaway food sat forgotten on the table. Leo leaned over his laptop, playing a clip from the match. It was a zoomed-in, blurry shot of Liam’s face right after Maya took

The day of the charity match arrived with bright skies and a crisp breeze. It was the kind of perfect autumn morning that made Manchester feel alive. The whole city seemed to buzz with excitement not just from the fans, but from the players too. For Maya and Leo, though, this wasn’t just a game. It felt like they were stepping into another carefully planned mission. Every move would matter. Every glance could reveal something. They were here to perform not just for the crowd, but for the people hiding in the shadows. The stadium, usually used for top-tier matches, was surprisingly full. Isabella Knight’s media team had done their job well. Posters of Leo’s return and headlines about the historic ‘Manchester United City’ match were everywhere. It was marketed as a moment of unity but beneath the surface, something deeper was unfolding. In the VIP box, Sir Alistair Finch sat tall and proud, smiling wide for the cameras. He was surrounded by Adidas executives, acting like a man who had f

The file landed in Maya’s inbox like a punch to the stomach. Her team’s set-piece plans; every formation, every player movement, every backup variation laid out in sharp detail. It wasn’t just information. It was a weapon. And the message attached to it hit harder than anything she’d faced on the pitch:Your secrets are my currency.Maya stared at the screen, her heart thudding. This wasn’t gossip. This wasn’t about photos or whispers behind her back. This was a direct attack on her career, on her team, on everything she had built with grit and sacrifice. She turned off her phone, the screen going black and cold, reflecting the panic in her eyes. This wasn’t an outsider. This wasn’t a nosey reporter. This was someone inside the club, someone with access. Someone she probably smiled at that morning. The thought made her sick. Her first instinct was to scream, to demand answers, to burn everything down. But she didn’t. She had spent years learning how to hold her fire. How to think unde

They stood by the back gate of the club grounds as they head towards the parking lot, the sky above them dim with evening light, the air thick with the lingering scent of grass and sweat. Most of the players had already gone home. The car park was nearly empty. It felt like the world had gone still around them.Maya zipped up her jacket, her fingers trembling slightly from the cold.Leo watched her quietly. “We’ll catch them,” he said, his voice low but steady. “Scarlett, Liam, whoever’s pulling the strings. They won’t stay hidden forever.”Maya gave a small nod. She wanted to believe that. She did believe that. But it didn’t make the weight any lighter.“I know,” she said. “But it still feels like we’re walking blind. Like they’re always one step ahead.”Leo glanced toward the road, where his car sat waiting. “Not for long.”There was silence between them for a moment.Maya took a slow breath. “You ever get that feeling like… everyone’s watching, even when they’re not?”Leo looked at

After the friendly match, everything moved fast. Reporters had come ready to stir up scandal but instead left with headlines about “team brilliance” and “unexpected club unity.” Maya’s daring assist and Leo’s stunning goal were all over the news. For once, the story favored them. Sir Alistair Finch looked proud. The Adidas reps were smiling. Even Isabella Knight, usually cold and hard to impress, seemed thrilled with the positive press. But underneath the smiles and headlines, a quiet war was still going on.Maya and Leo shared a few quick, relieved looks after the match, but deep down, both of them were still tense. That screenshot showing a private chat among Maya’s teammates haunted her. It wasn’t just a leaked message anymore. It felt like a knife in the back. Someone close to her, someone inside her circle, had betrayed her. That evening, Maya called Chloe.“I need to talk,” Maya said. Her voice was low and strained. “In person. Somewhere quiet. It’s serious.”Chloe didn’t ask ma
