Chapter 7: The Woman who knows

last update Veröffentlichungsdatum: 13.08.2026 22:40:46

POV: Evana

I’d never seen the old woman before.

She lived past the eastern boundary, where the trees grew close together and patrols rarely bothered walking that far.

I’d only gone there because I needed somewhere quiet. Somewhere no one looked at me like a problem still waiting to be solved.

The forest was peaceful.

Until her voice cut through it.

“You shouldn’t be here.”

I turned.

An old woman stood between the trees, she had silver hair loose around her shoulders, leaning heavily on a wooden

POV: EvanaThe first guard reached for my arm.I stepped back. “Don’t.”He stopped. The chamber went silent around us.I looked at him. Then at the elders. Then at Arthur.Nobody was going to move me like some animal they’d finally managed to corner.“I said no.”The council member frowned. “You don’t understand the danger you’re in.”“I understand it perfectly.” I looked him dead in the eye. “You’re afraid of me.”“That isn’t the issue.”“It is.” I took a step forward. “You don’t want to protect me. You want to control me.”Murmurs rippled through the chamber. The elder raised his voice over them. “You are an untrained Moon-Blood.”“And I’m still a person.”“You could lose control of your abilities.”“Then teach me.”That silenced him.“Teach me what I am,” I said. “Teach me how to control my wolf. Teach me how to use whatever strength I have. But don’t lock me away because you’re afraid of what I might become.”“You are being emotional.”I almost laughed. “Of course I’m emotional. I

  • HE CALLED HER PLUMP, NOW HE’LL BEG TO KEEP HER   Chapter 15: The Last Moon Blood

POV: Evana The word stayed in the air long after Marlowe spoke it.Moon-Blood.I’d heard it before, in the old book, in my dreams, in the whispers that had followed me since my eyes first turned silver. But hearing it from the oldest member of the Alpha Council made it real in a way none of that had.Too real.I looked around the chamber. Nobody laughed. Nobody questioned whether I’d imagined it. They all knew. Everyone in this room seemed to know something about me that I didn’t.“What does that mean?” My voice came out smaller than I wanted.Marlowe studied me. “It means your mother belonged to one of the oldest Luna bloodlines in werewolf history.”“My mother?” My mother had been a healer. Ordinary hands, ordinary remedies, ordinary quiet grief that never explained itself.“She was both.”“She never told me.”“She couldn’t.”“Why?”He exchanged a glance with the other elders, then sighed like the answer cost him something. “Because your mother spent most of her life hiding what s

  • HE CALLED HER PLUMP, NOW HE’LL BEG TO KEEP HER   Chapter 14: The Council Knows

POV: EvanaThe emergency summons arrived before breakfast.I was still at the long dining table when a messenger walked in carrying a sealed parchment, marked with the Alpha Council’s symbol pressed into dark wax.He didn’t look at me. He looked straight at Arthur.“Alpha, the council requires your presence.”Arthur broke the seal and read it, his expression shifting the further down the page he got.“What is it?” I asked. He folded the parchment. “An emergency gathering.”“About what?”His eyes came up to mine. “Us.”My stomach dropped.Us. That word didn’t belong in the same sentence as the council. They’d spent a year ignoring me entirely, no seat at meetings, no consultation on pack matters, expected to stay in the manor like something decorative whenever Arthur met with the elders. Now, suddenly, they wanted me there. That alone told me something was wrong.“Why do they want me?”Arthur’s jaw tightened before he answered. “Because they know.”“Know what?”He lowered his voice. “

  • HE CALLED HER PLUMP, NOW HE’LL BEG TO KEEP HER   Chapter 13: Silver Eyes

POV: ArthurThe moment her eyes turned silver, my wolf went completely still. Not calm. Still, the way a room goes still when something older and far more dangerous than you walks into it.Silver eyes.I’d read those words before. Not in any pack record, not in anything ordinary. In my father’s private journals, in a passage I’d read once and never let myself think about again.“When the Moon-Blood awakens, the eyes shall carry the color of the moon itself.”My stomach dropped.No. It couldn’t be.I’d spent a year telling myself Evana was an ordinary wolf who happened to be my Luna who is fat. I’d been wrong. Completely, dangerously wrong. She looked frightened. Not weak, she was never weak, not anymore, maybe not ever. Frightened because she didn’t understand what was happening inside her own body.I took a step toward her. She stepped back immediately. That hurt more than it should have.Mate, my wolf snarled, wanting to close the distance, to pull her in and put myself between her

  • HE CALLED HER PLUMP, NOW HE’LL BEG TO KEEP HER   Chapter 12: Evana’s First Choice

POV: EvanaI woke up that morning without wondering, for the first time in years, whether Arthur would approve of how I looked.Usually that was the first thing I did, replay whatever he’d said the day before. Too big. Too soft. Too much. Words that had started as insults and slowly turned into a voice inside my own head, one I hadn’t even noticed I’d stopped questioning. That morning was different.I stood in front of the mirror. My body hadn’t changed overnight. Still curvy. Still fuller than the slim, polished women Delphine liked to parade past me at every gathering. Still the woman who’d spent a year trying to shrink herself for someone who’d never once bothered to actually see her.But for the first time, I didn’t hate what looked back at me.I touched my own reflection.“This is my body,” I said out loud.“Not Arthur’s, Mine, And I was done apologizing for it.”I pulled on my training clothes and walked out to the yard.A few wolves turned to look when I stepped onto the field

  • HE CALLED HER PLUMP, NOW HE’LL BEG TO KEEP HER   Chapter 11: The Dead Alpha’s Secret

POV: ArthurI didn’t sleep. The letter stayed on my desk until dawn. Every time I closed my eyes I saw the same line.My death was not an accident. For years I’d accepted the official story without question. My father, killed in a territorial conflict. The enemy attacked. He fought. He lost.Simple. Clean.Nothing about it felt clean anymore. At sunrise I went to the archive beneath the council hall. Only the Alpha, the Beta, and a handful of elders had unrestricted access, and I used mine for the first time in years.I pulled the file with my father’s name on it.ALPHA ADRIAN WOLFE.The official death report. Cause of death: severe internal injuries, blood loss. That matched what I’d been told. The dates didn’t.The territorial conflict had ended on the seventeenth. His medical examination was dated the nineteenth. His death certificate said the eighteenth.Three different dates.“That can’t be right,” I said, to no one.I dug further. The medical report carried a signature that belo
