(Anastasia's POV)

Like a fish of the bottomless ascending to the surface of bright air and sun, I swim up to consciousness out of a dead blank into a whiter world than I had ever seen. Sunlight bounced off the carpet because there was a fragment of space open in between the currents. I heard voices very near at hand as if just behind my ear, talking together quietly in a business-like way. The blanket was warm under my skin, lying ramrod-straight on my back on the bed.

My vision was still a little bit blurry, as the two vague shapes moved in the corner of the room. I wander my eyes to scrutinize my surroundings. The gray canvas before me turned into a rock-walled ceiling as my vision slowly became clear. Though still only half awake, I glance back at the corner and saw Adam and Caleb having a serious conversation.
