It started just a few months ago, against my better judgment, I found myself developing genuine feelings for Kristine.

She and Amelia always believed I had fallen for her at first sight. But that simply wasn't the case; in fact, they couldn't have been more mistaken. I actually fell in love with Kristine a few months ago when I realized she was about to become a CEO of her own company. I've always admired independent women. Otherwise, before now, I never really liked Kristine. If Sebastian had been onto her a year ago, I wouldn't have cared less. I would have left without giving two fucks. However now wasn't the case.

Anyway, since my feelings for Kristine were proving not to fade anytime soon despite our recent breakup, I felt obligated to take matters into my own hands and use the same approach I had done with Annie. This time, however, I would be more cautious.

To say history was repeating itself would be an understatement. Because everything just seemed amusing. I had trusted Kris

~LYDIA~"I entrusted everything into your care, so get it in order, Mitchell," I said over the phone. "I'll be back sooner or later. No, no specific date yet. Until then, manage everything at the office and make sure to check with me first before signing any documents."I heard her affirming response before I hung up the phone.A sigh escaped my lips as I glanced around my new home, which I was still becoming familiar with. The apartment was pristine white, including the kitchen where I was currently standing. After arriving in Puwak City two days ago, Elizabeth had brought us to this place and told us it would be our new home—where we would live until we completed our mission here. It was an average, upscale apartment downtown. At least it could help us maintain a low profile until we finished and returned home.I shook myself from my thoughts and tucked my phone into my jeans pocket before strutting into the living room, where I found Elizabeth working behind a computer. Oh, she's a

  • HIS REGRET; Chasing back his rejected ex-wife    117 ~ Someone from the past

~DAVE~'You're the father. It's your baby.'For the umpteenth time, Sabrina's words replayed in my head, stirring my inner turmoil.I had been sitting behind my desk in my office for a while now, completely immobile due to the news from Sabrina that I still couldn't process. She had broken it to me a few days ago that she was pregnant, and I had dismissed her claim entirely. I didn't want to believe it. In fact, I found it hard to accept. Yet, even after all this time, I still couldn't shake the thought. It plagued me for reasons I couldn't quite grasp. Now I found myself contemplating the possibility. What if she was truly pregnant? What if this supposed baby was really mine? But then again, could I really trust Sabrina?I had always known her to be a conniving woman, if not manipulative bitch. To make matters worse, she had always been attracted to me and wanted me for herself since day one. What if this pregnancy was merely a strategic ploy to rope me into her life? I ran my fing

  • HIS REGRET; Chasing back his rejected ex-wife    116 ~ Yapper 2.0

As usual, throughout the drive to Mia's school, she wouldn't stop talking—more like disturbing Sebastian with a torrent of irrelevant information he didn't sign up for. Well, actually he did, the day he decided to become a father of our tiny gossip. It was as if Mia had upgraded from yapper 1.0 to 2.0 with a degree. I just hoped she wouldn't blurt out anything that could implicate me or ruin this moment, such as accidentally revealing what I had indirectly told her not to tell Sebastian. Cause this felt good. This moment. My heart fluttered with warmth as we drove past the city, and I couldn't help but admire the tall houses, corporate buildings, and roadside shops. I found myself gazing out the window, deliberately avoiding eye contact with Sebastian, who kept stealing glances in my direction. From my peripheral view, I could make out his smile—or was it a smirk?—in response to my attempts to avoid his gaze. He didn’t seem to mind; instead, he focused more intently on Mia, who wa

  • HIS REGRET; Chasing back his rejected ex-wife    115 ~ Conflict

Amelia's expression was a mix of disappointment and annoyance as she approached us, halting just a few steps away from me. Meeting her gaze, I noticed her glaring between I and Sebastian while Mia, oblivious to the brewing conflict, rushed over to embrace her dad she had been so eager to meet again."Daddy!" she screeched with a level of excitement I hadn’t seen from her since the last time she was with Sebastian.Mia had been moody all day and week after Sebastian left, and despite Amelia and I trying everything within our power to make her smile, our efforts had yielded nothing. So, I was somewhat astonished to realize just how much of an effect Sebastian had on her. I knew he was her dad, but still—it was astonishing.I turned in time to witness the genuine and radiant smile that spread across Sebastian's face upon seeing Mia. His expression said it all—he missed her.He swiftly crouched down to her level, opening his arms to welcome her, and Mia happily ran into them. Her tiny li

"Amelia, wait!"I reached for her arm before she could make a move, my gaze imploring as we locked eyes."What?" she sneered. "Let go," she insisted, though she made no effort to shove my hand away. Fortunately, she remained seated with Mia in her arms.I exhaled sharply. "Please, let’s not fight over this. I’ll answer the door. If it’s him, I’ll tell him to leave.""I doubt you would do that..."The doorbell rang for the second time."Amelia, come on," I sighed, withdrawing my hand from hers. "Listen, it’s going to be fine. Just wait for me here. I’ll be right back.""Mommy, who is that?" Mia asked out of nowhere, and I felt my heart skip a beat.Still, I managed to smile and shook my head slightly. "No one, baby. Stay here with Aunt Amelia and finish your breakfast."With that, I cast one last imploring glance at Amelia before heading out of the kitchen. An unsettling feeling stirred within me as I approached the door. I was grateful to have persuaded Amelia to stay back; otherwise,
