LOGINAs Raj pushed the door open, Lylah slipped past him, her irritation palpable.
She fell into the sofa as her head rested between her palms. This was utterly a nightmare for her. A nightmare she desperately wished she could wake up from. "Ly, check out the rooms and choose one", Raj offered. "Don't call me that", Lylah rolled her eyes. She rose, snatched her luggage from his grip. "What's your problem?", Raj yelled. Lylah abruptly turned, nostrils flaring. Her vision blurred as her lips wobbled up and down. "What's my problem?, what's my problem?", She mumbled the latter. "Are you really asking me this?", she yelled in addition. "You are my problem", Lylah cried, pointing her index finger at Raj. "I hate that I have to see you every single day. And I also hate the fact that I'm stuck with you for this whole week in some stupid suite", She threw her hands up. Raj's face darkened, his eyes narrowing as he took a step closer to Lylah. "So that's how you feel, huh?" he spat, his voice low and venomous. "You think I wanted to spend a week with you in this suite? You think I'm enjoying this?" Lylah stood her ground, her eyes flashing with anger. "I don't care what you want or don't want, Raj. What I care about is getting through this week without losing my mind." The air was thick with tension as the two glared at each other. The suite, which seemed luxurious and inviting just , only felt suffocating and claustrophobic to the duo. Suddenly, Lylah's phone buzzed, breaking the silence. She hesitated for a moment before snatching it up and answering the call. "Hey, Mom," she said, her voice tight with emotion. Raj's eyes widened in surprise, and he took a step back, his expression softening slightly. "Lylah, maybe we should—" But Lylah held up a hand, silencing him. "I need to take this," she said, her eyes flashing with warning. And with that, she turned and walked away, leaving Raj standing alone in the suite. Raj watched Lylah walk away, still feeling a surge of anger and frustration. He couldn't believe she was being so unreasonable and dramatic. "Why was he even surprised?", he thought. This was Lylah for Christ sake. The same girl that got mad because he played too often. Same girl that got mad because he was too close to another girl, same girl that couldn't check her temper because he gave his stuff to girls or he was holding another girl's hand bag. Yeah, Lylah was that level of dramatic. As he stood there, he heard Lylah's voice rise and fall as she spoke to her mom. He didn't care what she was saying; he was still fuming from her behavior. Maybe for once he needed to let her know all that he felt too. After all, he was also human. "Lylah", Raj whispered as he saw her approach. Lylah's gaze pinned him down, making him bite his lips. "Can we just talk things over?", he asked rather politely. "There's nothing to talk about", Lylah curtly replied. Lylah sauntered past him grabbing her luggage in the process. "Ly!", Raj exclaimed as he grabbed her wrist. "Let go of me" Lylah tried to free her wrist. "Come on, Lylah, can't we just put the past behind us and move on?" Raj asked, his voice laced with exasperation. Lylah's eyes flashed with anger. "You think it's that easy, Raj? You think you can just waltz back into my life and expect me to forgive and forget?" Raj shrugged. "Why not? You're clearly still hung up on me. Maybe if you just admitted your feelings, we could—" Lylah's face turned red with rage. "How dare you," she spat. She threw soft punches against his chest, ready to go all cold turkey on her old love. "You think I'm still hung up on you? You're the one who cheated me, who broke my heart into a million pieces." "You made me believe in you so much that it blinded me, ignored everything I didn't like about you, for what?" Raj's expression turned smug. "Ah, come on, Lylah. That was just a mistake. I was young and stupid." Lylah's eyes widened in outrage. "A mistake? You call destroying our relationship and breaking my trust a mistake?" Raj shrugged again. "I didn't mean to hurt you and besides, it's not my fault you're indecisive", Raj mumbled. Lylah yanked her wrist free. That was the final straw. Lylah's face twisted in anger, and she pointed a shaking finger at the door. "Get out," she screamed. "Get out of my suite and out of my life. I never want to see you again, I hate you." Raj's eyes widened in surprise, but he quickly regained his composure. He smirked at Lylah. "Your suite?" he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "You always hate me and yet, you never wanted to fumble this dick. You was crying because it's over" "Your peanut dick ain't shit so get out", Lylah cussed. "I'll give you space for a while, but remember it's our suite so don't think this is the last you've seen of me." And with that, he walked out of the suite, leaving Lylah shaking with rage and hurt. She just couldn't believe she had ignored all the signs before. Or maybe it was just stupid of her to think he was just testing her all this time. Meanwhile it was just his true colors starting to show. If there was one thing she hated about herself so much right now, it was the fact that she was so indecisive. She needed to change and she would.Lylah Jeurgens walked down the hallway, her heels clicking softly against the plush carpet. She had stayed at this hotel before. The layout was familiar and comforting. As she approached her room, she slipped her key card into the slot and pushed open the door. The familiar scent of fresh linens and the soft glow of the lamps welcomed her back into her sanctuary. Lylah smiled, feeling a sense of comfort and relaxation wash over her. A small smile tugged at her lips. But that serenity was short-lived. The familiar scent of mint and wood hit her like a ghost of the past. She didn't even need to look to know he was there. He sat at the mini-bar, a glass in his hand, the liquid swirling as he twirled the glass. "So, where did you vanish to after your little moment with Mr. Replacement?", Raj muttered before draining his glass. Lylah just picked up the tv remote from the cobalt carpet, her gaze caught on his familiar blue baseball cap. She bent down to pick it up, but then she pau
The elevator bell dinged and Lylah sauntered out, but not without an exasperated sigh leaving her lips. "Good morning Miss Jeurgens", May greeted. Lylah only managed a smile. As she passed by May's desk, she realized she didn't know her way around and so paused. She swiftly turned, eyes on her joined fingers. Lylah lifted her gaze, finding warmth in May's chocolate eyes. "It's on your far right sweetie, second floor, glass doors", May winked. "Thank you", Lylah mouthed. Lylah sighed, her mind wandering off once again. She thought of how nice this would be if they were still together. It would be their mini-vacation. "And that would give him more reason to neglect his work since he got you", Lylah's subconscious told her. This was exactly what Mark had warned her about, because of which Liam had thrown digs at her. "Welcome", a dark curly lady greeted. "Your name please?" "Lylah Jeurgens", Lylah smiled. The lady who seemed to be in her early twenties, wrapped the tag arou

Lylah's lingering gaze rested on the glowing crystal chandeliers as she stepped into the hotel lobby. Those pieces always attracted her. "This is exquisite", she thought. Her smile faltered immediately her gaze found Raj's, already on her. She swiftly looked elsewhere, looking at anybody but him. She steadily approached the receptionist desk, ready to lodge in and have a good rest. "Good evening ma'am, welcome to Golden Tulip. My name's May and how may I be of service", the receptionist smiled. Lylah's eyes locked onto the receptionist's warm smile, grateful for the distraction from Raj's piercing gaze. "Good evening," she replied, her voice smooth and confident. "Yes, we have a reservation for two bedrooms" The receptionist's fingers danced across the keyboard as she searched for the reservation. Lylah's gaze drifted around the lobby, taking in the elegant décor and the soft hum of conversation from the other guests. Raj stepped up beside her, his presence making her hear
"What's he doing here", Lylah repeated. Raj simply threw a smirk at the young lady. He enjoyed getting a reaction out of her every single time."Lylah, please join us", Mark pointed to the empty seat next to Raj.Lylah reluctantly walked to her seat, then finally sat down, trying her best not to offer Raj even a glance. She didn't want to see his stupid smirk again."I have an urgent assignment for you both", Mark cut to the chase.Lylah's eyes narrowed as she sat down next to Raj in Mark's office. She couldn't believe she was being forced to work with her ex again.Mark smiled, not quite oblivious to the tension between them, but he making money off his capable employees was more important. "So, I'm sure you're both aware of the upcoming conference for publishers. We've been invited to attend, and I think it's a great opportunity for us to network and learn more about the industry."Lylah's gut tightened as Mark dropped the bombshell. "I've decided that Lylah will be attending as
Lylah's eyes focused on the Tv screen as she tried to become fully engrossed in the movie she was watching. But her mind kept wandering back to the events of the previous day. The meeting, Raj's condescending attitude, and his blatant flirting with the new intern had left her seething. She tried to shake off the feeling of unease, focusing instead on the romantic comedy unfolding on screen.Just as she was starting to relax, her phone buzzed with an incoming call from her office.Lylah's eyes narrowed, her mind racing with the possibility that it might be Raj trying to provoke her again. She felt her anger simmering just below the surface, threatening to boil over. She contemplated on either sending the caller straight to her voicemail or answering the call."Lylah speaking", she answered curtly."Miss Jeurgens, this is Kim, Mr. Prose's secretary", the lady behind the voice announced.Lylah swallowed, waiting for the lady to continue. She had already submitted the Liason Project. She
