LOGINAs Raj pushed the door open, Lylah slipped past him, her irritation palpable.
She fell into the sofa as her head rested between her palms. This was utterly a nightmare for her. A nightmare she desperately wished she could wake up from. "Ly, check out the rooms and choose one", Raj offered. "Don't call me that", Lylah rolled her eyes. She rose, snatched her luggage from his grip. "What's your problem?", Raj yelled. Lylah abruptly turned, nostrils flaring. Her vision blurred as her lips wobbled up and down. "What's my problem?, what's my problem?", She mumbled the latter. "Are you really asking me this?", she yelled in addition. "You are my problem", Lylah cried, pointing her index finger at Raj. "I hate that I have to see you every single day. And I also hate the fact that I'm stuck with you for this whole week in some stupid suite", She threw her hands up. Raj's face darkened, his eyes narrowing as he took a step closer to Lylah. "So that's how you feel, huh?" he spat, his voice low and venomous. "You think I wanted to spend a week with you in this suite? You think I'm enjoying this?" Lylah stood her ground, her eyes flashing with anger. "I don't care what you want or don't want, Raj. What I care about is getting through this week without losing my mind." The air was thick with tension as the two glared at each other. The suite, which seemed luxurious and inviting just , only felt suffocating and claustrophobic to the duo. Suddenly, Lylah's phone buzzed, breaking the silence. She hesitated for a moment before snatching it up and answering the call. "Hey, Mom," she said, her voice tight with emotion. Raj's eyes widened in surprise, and he took a step back, his expression softening slightly. "Lylah, maybe we should—" But Lylah held up a hand, silencing him. "I need to take this," she said, her eyes flashing with warning. And with that, she turned and walked away, leaving Raj standing alone in the suite. Raj watched Lylah walk away, still feeling a surge of anger and frustration. He couldn't believe she was being so unreasonable and dramatic. "Why was he even surprised?", he thought. This was Lylah for Christ sake. The same girl that got mad because he played too often. Same girl that got mad because he was too close to another girl, same girl that couldn't check her temper because he gave his stuff to girls or he was holding another girl's hand bag. Yeah, Lylah was that level of dramatic. As he stood there, he heard Lylah's voice rise and fall as she spoke to her mom. He didn't care what she was saying; he was still fuming from her behavior. Maybe for once he needed to let her know all that he felt too. After all, he was also human. "Lylah", Raj whispered as he saw her approach. Lylah's gaze pinned him down, making him bite his lips. "Can we just talk things over?", he asked rather politely. "There's nothing to talk about", Lylah curtly replied. Lylah sauntered past him grabbing her luggage in the process. "Ly!", Raj exclaimed as he grabbed her wrist. "Let go of me" Lylah tried to free her wrist. "Come on, Lylah, can't we just put the past behind us and move on?" Raj asked, his voice laced with exasperation. Lylah's eyes flashed with anger. "You think it's that easy, Raj? You think you can just waltz back into my life and expect me to forgive and forget?" Raj shrugged. "Why not? You're clearly still hung up on me. Maybe if you just admitted your feelings, we could—" Lylah's face turned red with rage. "How dare you," she spat. She threw soft punches against his chest, ready to go all cold turkey on her old love. "You think I'm still hung up on you? You're the one who cheated me, who broke my heart into a million pieces." "You made me believe in you so much that it blinded me, ignored everything I didn't like about you, for what?" Raj's expression turned smug. "Ah, come on, Lylah. That was just a mistake. I was young and stupid." Lylah's eyes widened in outrage. "A mistake? You call destroying our relationship and breaking my trust a mistake?" Raj shrugged again. "I didn't mean to hurt you and besides, it's not my fault you're indecisive", Raj mumbled. Lylah yanked her wrist free. That was the final straw. Lylah's face twisted in anger, and she pointed a shaking finger at the door. "Get out," she screamed. "Get out of my suite and out of my life. I never want to see you again, I hate you." Raj's eyes widened in surprise, but he quickly regained his composure. He smirked at Lylah. "Your suite?" he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "You always hate me and yet, you never wanted to fumble this dick. You was crying because it's over" "Your peanut dick ain't shit so get out", Lylah cussed. "I'll give you space for a while, but remember it's our suite so don't think this is the last you've seen of me." And with that, he walked out of the suite, leaving Lylah shaking with rage and hurt. She just couldn't believe she had ignored all the signs before. Or maybe it was just stupid of her to think he was just testing her all this time. Meanwhile it was just his true colors starting to show. If there was one thing she hated about herself so much right now, it was the fact that she was so indecisive. She needed to change and she would."Where were you?, you are almost late", Faye pointed out the obvious. "I'm here now, ain't I?", Lylah sighed as she took off her dark glasses.Lylah's eyes were bloodshot and heavy, the whites tinged with red, a telltale sign of a late night and too little sleep. Dark circles etched beneath her eyes like shadows. The skin underneath was puffy and dark. The spark that usually lit up her face had dimmed, leaving her gaze dull and lacklustre, giving her eyes a perpetually sleepy look."Ooh, what happened to you?, you look a hot mess. I leave you for a while and I can't find you anywhere. Oh right I found you close to twelve hours later, which is like now", Faye dropped the bomb on Lylah."Why are you making a mountain out of a molehill?, not like I didn't call you severally before?", Lylah rolled her eyes.Faye scanned her friend up and down, she almost looked like she got no sleep at all. This was no way to look presentable for a presentation.Well definitely not the type of upper eche
"You look so bomb, the smokey eye is definitely your style", Faye encouraged. Lylah smiled, admiring her reflection in the mirror. She was pretty, pretty enough and she didn't need one man to make her feel like she wasn't.Not just make her feel, to tell her that she wasn't pretty."Earth to Lylah", Faye snapped her fingers in Lylah's face.Lylah blinked twice, her eyes following the direction of Faye's fingers. She raised her left eyebrow quizzically. "I said we're done here. Where have your mind been?", Faye questioned. "Sorry, I just be doing that a lot sinc-"Stop", Faye interrupted. "Just stop Lylah. Your every single conversation leads back to him, that one. Why do you keep on inflicting on yourself so much pain", she added. Lylah rose up and settled on the bed. She looked up, like those ceilings were the most fancy thing she ever saw.She embraced herself, cause after all all she had was herself. She wanted to cry but she didn't want to do it before Faye. Tears were the mo
Lylah's world was crumbling and she felt like she was on the verge of a breakdown, the great pillar of her life was tumbling down on her and she was struggling to cope. What happened to her?, to them?, she was still in denial, trying to escape the reality of the situation.Lylah felt suffocated in her own skin. But the water was alive, its soft caress wrapping around her ankles like a lover's touch. Lylah sighed, letting her head fall back against the tub. The jets massaged her scalp, a gentle pulse that seemed to sync with her heartbeat. She felt weightless, suspended in a world of warmth and comfort. The bubbles tickled, a playful laugh that echoed through the bathroom. "Glub glub glub," they whispered, a soothing lullaby.Seeking solace, her eyes drifted shut, she sucked in her breath a submerged herself in the tub, letting herself sink deeper, into the peacefulness of it all as the water enveloped her.The bubbles tickled her skin, a strange comfort. It felt peaceful down there
"Are you okay?", he asked. Lylah's eyes looked empty; it was like every single blood had been drained from her face. The moisture in her lips was gone and it had been replaced with a rather dry lip. Her chest felt heavy. "Why do I let this happen to me over, and over, and over again", she mumbled. Her eyes landed on the smug looking guy standing right next to her. Marshmallow friend. "Why is he still here?", Lylah thought. She popped a questionable brow his way. "Randoff at your service ma'am", he replied. Lylah rolled her eyes, she wasn't even asking for his name. He seemed to be following her around and it was starting to feel awkward. She didn't want his attention. The irony wasn't lost on her, the one person she wanted was nowhere to be found. Life had a way of rubbing it in her face, didn't it? "Hey, you don't look too good, are you even supposed to be here at all", Randoff questioned. "Stop it", Lylah seethed. " I don't know you, I don't want your care, why are yo
Lylah frantically rummaged through her closet, the ticking clock seemed to mock her, each passing second a harsh reminder that she was running perilously late for the most important conference of her career. The air was thick with the scent of her sweat, even after washing down for the second time that day, and it was just a few minutes past 12 in the afternoon. Her fingers flew through the rows of clothes, rejecting each outfit with a dismissive swish of her hand. Where was that one dress, the one that made her feel invincible? She didn't want to struggle with her choice of clothes and that was why she unpacked her clothes from the suitcase into the wardrobe. She snatched a glance at the clock on her nightstand, and her heart sank. Thirty minutes. She was thirty minutes late, she had less than 5 minutes to transform herself from a chaotic mess into a poised professional. The sound of her own ragged breathing was the only soundtrack as she seized the cream-colored pencil skirt
Lylah Jeurgens walked down the hallway, her heels clicking softly against the plush carpet. She had stayed at this hotel before. The layout was familiar and comforting. As she approached her room, she slipped her key card into the slot and pushed open the door. The familiar scent of fresh linens and the soft glow of the lamps welcomed her back into her sanctuary. Lylah smiled, feeling a sense of comfort and relaxation wash over her. A small smile tugged at her lips. But that serenity was short-lived. The familiar scent of mint and wood hit her like a ghost of the past. She didn't even need to look to know he was there. He sat at the mini-bar, a glass in his hand, the liquid swirling as he twirled the glass. "So, where did you vanish to after your little moment with Mr. Replacement?", Raj muttered before draining his glass. Lylah just picked up the tv remote from the cobalt carpet, her gaze caught on his familiar blue baseball cap. She bent down to pick it up, but then she pau
