Chapter Fourty-eight

"Are you sure it's okay for us to visit her?" Eugene asked, surprised.

We are currently in the hospital's hallway on our way to Anica's room, which is also in the hospital where she was admitted. Eugene is pushing my wheelchair.

"She's already awake, they're just waiting to be discharged," he said, looking at each room number on the door.

The doctor insisted that we stay in the hospital the second day because I was showing signs of excessive stress and anxiety, which could cause my depression, which could be associated with pregnancy. Eugene agreed right away and was perplexed as to whether it was bad or if I needed medicine.

He's being overly paranoid because of our current situation, I am thinking... Is Eugene all right? With everything that had happened, he was just fine. 'He always says he's fine,' reassures me, but I'm afraid he's just trying to be strong, that he's drained inside him, but he exists as a pillar of his home, so he doesn't want to show me that he, too, is weak.
